@The Weavers of Eternity Paracord - What initially attracted me to this video, is the way in which the knot was tied in the thumbnail. My great aunt had a Chinese infinite ball knot, that was used to suspend a solid six inch ivory ball, that had been intricately carved from a single solid tusk and contained sixteen separate hand carved balls within. That knot and balls kept me amazed and bewildered for all my childhood years. Thanks for sharing and jogging such a much loved almost forgotten memory.

I used hot water after forming and put a weight to press flat the knot till dry. Looks very good after.

If you stitch the cords of the bottom loops together in a few places with sewing thread, they are less likely to snag on things and pull the knot out of shape. 3 or 4 lines through all the loops are sufficient, or 2 if the knot is small.

Ok, this knot, together with another diamond knot, is actually a traditional Chinese oriental kind of shirt button, you can sew it on clothes with the corresponding diamond knot on the other side, put the diamond knot into the top loop of the teardrop, yay button!

If it wasn’t so delicate and held its shape a little better, I’d say it would make a cool keychain or even a zipper pull. But, without like glueing or stitching the cord together or maybe replacing the core with a heavy bailing wire, I feel like it would only look good until the first tug, then it’d just be fubar.
Awhile back, I had some leftover resin and, just for shits and giggles, I hung a snake knot zipper pull (a leftover from watching the zipper pull videos) in the cup of leftover resin, so just the knotted part of a snake knot was submerged in the resin, put it in the vacuum chamber to pull the resin into the knot, then brushed off the excess resin. When it cured, the knot was was completely solid and the untouched loop was still flexible. Maybe something like that, or just brushing resin on it, would make it a little more durable and more suited for a keychain or zipper pull. But, as it is, it just looks too fragile to be anything other than a decoration or maybe a dangly earring, as long as you’re not head banging in a mosh pit or something

I was thinking if the top loop was larger, or smaller with a hidden loop in the back, it would make an interesting neckerchief slide. 😉
