Please be careful, my husband a driver for 20+ years was in a rollover accident a few weeks ago. So, everyday I pray for all truck drivers to stay safe because it only takes a heartbeat and your life is completely changed. Stay safe❤
Delivered fuel oil in Brooklyn for years. Front row seat to the greatest show on earth.
I do it in philly.. people make videos of Kensington and get millions of views.. maybe I should start doing the same, since I’m there 6 days a fkn week.. best part is trying not to step on used needles that are just laying in the streets.
I did that job in the UK for a couple of years. I found it to be the most stressful job ever. Early start trying to get a position on loading bays, calculating how much to put on. Different truck each day, different area each day, tight country lanes, poor directions, unfair work allocations. If your eyes were blue you'd get the cream. Very long routes with poor attention to weight limits, only worked out geographically. Sometimes nowhere to park the truck on return to depot so had to park a mile down the road and walk back to complete paperwork only to find they wanted you to preload as the price goes up at midnight ready for the next day.
Absolutely hated it.
I feel better now lol. 😁
No cursing and swearing when the office doesn't include house color, or side the fill is on? No irritation when you pull up to houses with no name, address number on box or house, or the joy of the unshoveled driveways? How about add ons on the other side of town? My truck has ten million miles on it, and rides like it has concrete tires. How bout yours? I highly recommend this job.
Not possible to have 10 million miles. It took me 13 years to put on 250,000 miles, and that is year round daily driving.
gotta love the add ons.. if you haven’t thought about caving your dispatchers face at least 3 times a week, then you haven’t delivered oil.
@@unclejunior2668 Hi Unk. I just reread my comment, and God do I sound like a bitch🙂. Anyway, it's an important job we have. I just joined another outfit where the trucks are even worse, but I learned three new manual transmissions. Drive safe. Thankyou for the reply.
@@oilburner9989 I was exaggerating. It's just an old one with bungie's and tape all over it. As a newer driver, I know it's common to get the older stuff. Thankyou for the reply.
American Hero right there
Awesome job.. all depends on company you work for! Some companies will hand you a tank and give you 50 stops. Lol
Did this in the mid 70's. It sucked. Low pay, out in the rain and cold all the time, smelled like fuel oil at the end of the day, getting stuck in unplowed farm lanes. I only lasted about a year.
Hi, I’m curious, do a lot of these drivers get laid off during certain times?
Nope. When the oil prices went up we slowed down, but not much
Yes. I work in NYC in a union shop. There are 26 drivers on the list and only the top 6 guys work year round. The rest work from October to April give or take a few months depending on how cold it gets in the fall and how warm it gets in April/May.
Yes I work in Philly.. most of us it’s October-May.. after the season is over you will be glad to get laid off.. you’re working 6 sometimes 7 days a week 70+ hours a week for 6-7 months straight.. it will fk you up.
@@unclejunior2668 you need to find a different job my friend. Nobody should have to work hours like that. These companies don’t care about their employees & work you like slaves!
