  • Wild River Country was a place families traveled from all across Arkansas to visit in the summer, but now it sits abandoned with the water slides ripped apart.

I feel like my childhood came to a close when this place shut down for good.

Sucks. I went to this place hundreds of times throughout the 2000’s, and was a huge part of my childhood during several summers. I wish somebody had the funds and audacity to rebuild it.

Same here bro, back in 2000s I went a few times when I was 9 to 12 years old. Miss water river county, definitely heartbreaking. Down memory Lane. Nostalgia.

When I was a kid, I was friends with the manager’s kid, so we’d have exclusive birthdays and stuff there during times when the park was actually supposed to be closed and it would be just us and our families. Was like a little kid’s fantasy, honestly sounds like something a kid would lie about to his friends to impress them, but it was real, and a strange thing to remember as someone who’s almost an adult now. Sometimes I have to check and make sure I didn’t make it up in my head, but my family assures me I didn’t. Can still remember running around the park in the pitch black night time, no lines at any of the slides, and just blatantly disregarding the rules by going on huge slides like the cyclone without a tube. Good times, very good times. It makes me sad to see this is how this place turned out

I’m 12, and I had a friend when I was 11 who’s dad was the manager up until it was put up for sale. :( it’s really sad. We don’t have that many attractions in central Arkansas, so it was nice to have something. I remember having so much fun. Shame it’s gone now. My dad even worked at wild river country.

Hurts my heart to see it declining. I loved that place. Went the first year it opened when I was 5. I always compared other water parks to this one. So many memories of mom and I, school trips, girlfriends and best friends just having a good time. This one hurts almost as bad as seeing my childhood home run down and abandoned.

I worked there all through high school. Theresa was one of my managers. It's so surreal to see the park abandoned....

What no one can talk about is the 3rd world cultures that started taking over the water park. They are loud, aggressive and almost always have at least one fight when a large group is together. This causes the civilized people that hold jobs to come less and less, which takes away income from the park. The same thing happened to the playtime pizza place over by otter creek. Can't have nice things when certain cultures take over. We went there a few times and watched it gradually go downhill because of this until they were closed for tax payment issues. The dance floor that was supposed to play kids music so the kids could jump around and play in innocent fun started having rap music played regularly. All of the stomp and grind dancing made it hard to enjoy the place.

Look for yourself and see what group brought the park down. This is just one example clip.

Had I not been a lifeguard for them in 2019, I'd have been devastated. After having worked there, realizing just how awful of an experience it is, I'm not sure how I feel about its closure
