People forget darnold is very very young at 27. I felt before the season he could conceivably take the starting spot from jj. As a USC alum.... I'm rooting for him. I'm even rooting for guys like Mercedes Lewis who I played HS ball with and the guy is still in the league
1. Justin Jefferson 2. Jordan Addison 3. TJ Hockenson 4. Dallas Turner All either missed this game or left due to injury. Add on JJ McCarthy + Kyree Jackson tragedy. combined with a Sam Darnold led Viking team up against an absolutely STACKED 49ERS SQUAD - Debo - Mason - Aiyuk - Kittle - Williams - Bosa - Warner - Purdy - K. Jusczcyk Yet Minnesota was a yard away from going up 27-7 on SF in the 4th QTR?????? Make that make sense 😂
I'm happy for Sam Darnold. But this an old story. Top college quarterbacks get drafted on to loser teams. No o-line, no targets, no running game, no good coaching. Then their perceived value just tanks. It's a matter of luck that Sam has managed to stay healthy enough to be picked up by a decent team and given a chance (though JJ's injury) to show what he can do. There's a reason why Sam was 3rd pick in the nfl draft. He lead UCS to winning seasons inspite of poor coaching. The Vikings got a deal with Sam Darnold. They need to appreciate what they got.
If he wins us this Strouds game on Sunday I’m buying a Darnold jersey it’s indisputable at that point that he’ll take us to playoffs. We’re cautiously optimistic remember Dobby won 2 games too but I’m LOVING watching him play
Something bout SammyD, I have followed his career because I believe he was talented, yet he lacked something. He needed a Coach like Kyle Shanahan who is Steady Eddie, and now has a real Genius coach in Kevin O'Connell, the QB whisperer!
People forget Kevin won 13 games his first year and even already won the division Jordan Addison is a #1 option on any other team but with us he 2 great thing to have
You overlooked a receiver that is beyond an X factor. Jalen (Speedy) Naylor's skillset is the perfect compliment to Jefferson's and Addison's as he can take the top off any defense with his world class speed. With all three receivers healthy and on the field at the same, the cost of doubling up on Jets and/or Addison will become abundantly clear and will do so in the "blink of an eye." 🧐
So basically Sam Darnold started off with the Jets with three wins then lost nine of their next 10 games ending their season at 4-12 Going from a 72 to a 97 QB rating at Carolina First year, throwing 13 interceptions next year 3. Not sure the amount of games, but on paper has been massive improvement since the Jets. The next few games will tell us what we need to know about Sam Darnold. SKOL!
Does Darnold have a home with the Vikings? Not long term. Either he comes crashing to earth and they move on to JJ next season or he lights it up and he goes off chasing $$$ in the offseason as he is on a 1 year deal and the Vikings can't afford a bidding war to keep him.
This wonderful to see Sam to balling like this go Sam
This is my favorite part of NFL seasons: the feel good story lines
Same here as well I love to see players find true success no matter the team.

If he continues to do well, there's no one that can be else that can be Comeback Player of the Year.
Kirko
I liked Sam on the Panthers but happy he moved on to better places. Vikings are looking dangerous this year
