- The date was April 26, 1986 at the Riviera Lanes in Fairlawn, Ohio for the $250,000 Firestone Tournament of Champions. The championship match featured Marshall Holman, who won the Firestone 10 years earlier, and Mark Baker. Baker qualified for the Firestone by winning the King Louie Open a month earlier in the famous match vs. Walter Ray Williams Jr, where everyone was missing spares, etc. The championship match featured a little bit of everything in bowling. First prize was $50,000 to the winner. With a win, Holman would top the Million dollar mark for career winnings. Sit back, and join Chris Schenkel and Nelson Burton, Jr. for the call.

Thank you Brian S. for the clip!
What a wild match! Missing single pin conversions, going over the foul line, Holman with a ciggy lol absolutely crazy
Last I checked, it does. AMF owns it now, and the PBA hosted two tournaments at AMF Riviera in '04 and '05.
Holman was unique in that he could hit the ball while sliding and still have leverage.
Marshall told me this week that he was an instinctive bowler he just didnt think about techniqe
If memory serves the pattern for the Firestone was 50 foot flat. This is before resin so they would've been throwing urethane.
Nice picture quality!!!
By the way, did I actually see what I thought I saw in Marshall's hand b/t 4:54 and 4:56!!!
Looks like it. Doesn’t look like it was lit though.
ONce firestone stopped sponsoring event they no longer needed to be at fairlawn which was in close proximity to firestone headquarters.
did marshall test that lane with a cigarette in his hand?
Sure did
Baker "Goddammit" at 7:29 and 7:42!!
Holman F-bomb at 7:00!!!
It actually WAS what I thought it was b/c look what happens at 5:31!!!
I caught it. It wouldn’t fly in today’s PBA
we dont see ball deflection like that anymore
Nike used to make bowling shoes??
Yep, they did.
No,he knowing him got them used
i saw holman wearing Nike..
