    Still using the Sigma Metalytics Original Bullion Set with all three wands. After years of use I can honestly say this is one of the best investments I ever made. I would like to have one of the Handheld XRF Analyzers but the price is crazy high. Thanks for the excellent video Sir., and keep up the good work. Life is good....!!!

    • @chiil034
      @chiil034 5 месяцев назад

      Handheld XRF only tests the surface of the coin. There are gold wrapped tungsten coins that have fooled XRF machines... which is why, if in doubt - cut the gold coin or assay (melt it), then test with XRF.

    • @prettykitty5416

      @@chiil034but those tungsten coins wouldn’t pass a sigma right? Is there and accurate way to test a coin without destroying it?

    Ive been stacking for decades and never owned a sigma until I ordered the investor tonight, I trust my eyes, especially with a loupe, but some counterfeits are incredibly good and incredibly well done. I can sleep better on trades, buys, and sells with this machine. If selling gold especially, having sigma proof sells inventory fast.

    • @joshpointoh
      @joshpointoh 8 месяцев назад

      Yeah, the days of trusting your eyes are over. Fakes can be so good now.
      Look at the watch market, there are fake Rolexes that can fool pawn shops.
      Even videos and audio can be deep faked now.
      I can't imagine what it will be like in a few years when everything can be faked practically perfectly

    I didn't know they came out with a new Sigma; I like that the screen is integrated. I have the Mini Pro, and the only other advantage the Mini Pro has, besides the ones you mentioned, is that I can pair it to any size tablet. So, if I'm after those 1,000-gram bars, I can still use the specific gravity measurement on a tablet because the screen is large enough to accommodate larger bars and rounds.

    The gold coin at 5:20 passed the first check but failed the second check for size so it was considered fake? Isn't the first check for purity to verify it's actually gold? Maybe I'm confused but even though it failed the second check wouldn't it still have value based on weight or are you saying even though it passed the gold check it's still somehow fake both in content and size?

    Have you ever seen a false negative with a sigma tester? I have a 1881 CC Morgan, and I've shown it to several coin dealers who specialize in Morgans, and after looking at it in detail they all claim it's legit. It weighs good. However, on two different sigma testers, when tested on one side it is one space inside the brackets, but on the other side it is one space outside the brackets. And the magnet test is odd too - it seems to slide a little faster than other Morgans, but is still slow enough to give me doubts... I'd love to test it on one of these new Sigmas!

      Quick question. Lets say you keep stacking for a while, buying nice shiny new stuff. When it comes time to sell some of your stuff could you get more of your premium back by selling to individuals rather than to a store? Would those individuals be more comfortable purchasing if they can see it tested by something like this?
      There are reasons for these things existing, not every shop can afford an XRF gun but needs to test buybacks for example.

      yes, rather then engaging the brain a bit more you'll end up buying from the most expensive and sell to those offering you the least (reputable dealers). At least you'll be comfortable.

    • @kevink6420
      @kevink6420 8 месяцев назад +1

      Depends on how much you stack and from where. Buying a sigma, and pursuing private party sales instead of dealers has saved me rediculous amounts of money as a stacker. Thousands of dollars. Also, as stated, if you go to sell gold yourself, or even silver, having a sigma sells your stuff fast and at retail prices. They're worth the price. Get a pro, pro mini, or investor.

    Still way too pricey, for fudge sake you can get a smart phone for $50 all day, and it has more computing power that all the Apollo missions combined,not sure what exactly proprietory process they use, likely its nothing more than a copper coil taking an inductance reading and comparing it to a known library .
    Heck you can get a pocket pinger and a free phone app, I'd argue, just as effective, and still have enough left for $100 face worth of junk.
    Sure for a shop its kinda necessary, thou coinsops operated just fine since the beginning of time without them.
    Good luck with the sales.

    Don't rely on single testing method. Cheap quality fake coin can be detected easily, the hardest one is tungsten core gold coin/bar.
    - Someone told me sigma verifier cannot detect fake coin /w thick gold layer and tungsten core. Sigma verifier uses magnetic field to determine the metal. If the layer metal is thick enough, magnetic field will go though the gold layer instead of pass though the tungsten core.
    - Gravity test (water submerged method), measures the "volume" of the coin. Since tungsten density is close to gold, this method doesn't work on tungsten core gold coin.
    - Actually, ultrasonic thickness gauge + Caliper is the best method to test tungsten core gold coin/bar. Gold is 3240m/s, tungsten is 5220m/s. If it has core tungsten, the display thickness should be much less than the actual thickness.

    Great. I spent $1200 on the original PMV and am not happy with it. It's clearly 10-year-old technology that has advanced considerably (but not adequately) since then. If Sigma Analytics were a consumer-responsive company, they would offer people a trade-in to upgrade to a newer unit that does what it should for the money! Instead, they are selling them at double the price they were introduced at. DO NOT BUY THE ORIGINAL! They are trying to dump them at an exorbitant price for what they do, and you will not be happy. Save your money and buy a newer one. I feel like I just pissed away $1200.00.

    Lotsa HATE being thrown at these machines in the comments section - clearly due to their pricing - which the bulk of the stacker community finds both frustrating and offensive. 🤨
    This creates ill will and prompts many to unfairly malign the capability and utility of these machines.
    In reality this is all sour grapes because we know the machines work and most express a desire to own one…..IF they were priced more reasonably. But because they are NOT, stackers get pissed and start spinning all sorts of tales about how useless and unnecessary these devices are. And yet…..we are all here because a device like this has UTILITY for us, no? 🧐
    A smart company would fix this problem and cut prices BIG TIME and OWN THIS MARKET forever by being the biggest volume seller of quality precious metals testing machines. I don’t comprehend why the manufacturer cannot grasp this. 🤷🏻‍♂️

    I've always wanted to get me a precious metal verifier but originally when they were 750 bucks seems like a lot till covid said in and they were 1300 to 1500 bucks And I thought that was just outrageous. Hopefully with these more models they'll come down with their prices so the average stacker can afford it and you don't have to be a business model to need it. The one thing I would change on that unit is between the keypad and the right hand side of the unit probably where you're going to end up plugging the wands into I would have put them on the top of the face so you didn't have to pull it out of the case. Hey that rhymes, call me MC Silver. 3:14
