Politics has become the new religion. The way people worship politicans is strange. They put their hope, faith, trust and money into these rich politcians that promise Peace and Security all while its filled with corruption. Modern Religion is the Democrat and Republican Party.

People see Christians behaving not the least bit like Christ and they want nothing to do with it. Maybe start feeding the hungry, housing the homeless and loving thy neighbor rather than railing against all of those things.
There have always been Christians of various churches who do these things, and they still exist. If a perceived absence of such activity exists in some places, I don't think that's what really drives people away n general
When I was homeless and working full-time, it wasn't the government that did anything for my family. It was the Christian church and its people who did. People today only hear the bad but not the good. People are also so comfortable that they think they don't need God without realizing that they would have nothing without Him.
@@Lapusso650 the idea is that everything within physical reality is dependent on time and space. and we know through the big bang / cosmic microwave background radiation that the universe had an origin. and with that origin was the beginning of time (4th dimension). with the idea being that God is an infinitely dimensional being that lies outside of time and was therefore able to create it it is a leap and there is no direct proof and possibly never will be as these are metaphysical claims (for both the theist & the atheist).. and that is where the beginning of faith lies. hope this is somewhat of a sufficient answer

Maybe if you lived in a state with a strong financial security system, you wouldn’t have that issue. Federalism makes it so that states can do whatever they want and harm their citizens with no consequences. Wishing you all the best and I’m glad the church helped you.
That’s an excuse. They have church on other days than Sunday. American culture has made believers to make any excuse for not going or involving the family in faith. Hence the closing. Most have just stopped believing altogether. They think it’s stupid to have faith. Especially the youth.

Instead of being filled with grace, mercy, and thankfulness it’s just about how their doctrines are the only ones that get you to Christ. The ironic thing about “I don’t go to church because it’s full of hypocrites” is a) everybody is a hypocrite to one degree or another, they just don’t realize it. B) It’s never is about going to church, it’s about having faith in Christ that he rose from the dead and following him and through Him you will have eternal life in Heaven because of His love.
The thing is which one has less cost to people: taking time to go to a place of worship with people who actively dismay you or choosing to worship and uphold the values of your faith in your actions rather than when you go? This all also accompanies a more interconnected world online where the church isn’t the only community anymore-it’s viewed more as a school club which engages people, although those people are there to socialize and cheer with there friends, something a church isn’t really a good place for with its traditions.
It’s a combination of things, the scandals, the prosperity gospel, the availability of alternative religions, and the fact people have literally died and relocated. The church buildings were built because there was a worshipping community who needed it. If the worshippers are not there, what’s the point of keeping an empty building?
American Christians have been radicalized to the point that they no longer follow the teaching of Christ. Many of us are Spiritual not Christian because we want to actually do good deeds but not rub elbows with hypocrites at church.
Please correct me if I’m wrong. Just because malls are closing down, doesn’t mean people are not participating in consumerism. Just because people aren’t going to church, doesn’t mean people aren’t spiritual. To blame the lack of attendance on busy lives, substances, and sin is ignorant because these things all existed just as long as religion, if not longer. Churches need to take a good look in the mirror if they want to increase attendance, and not try to hope for tragedy or challenging times to bring in more foot traffic. What did churches do when the world was in lockdown during the pandemic? They held their service over zoom or online. Why aren’t more churches turning to Twitch or RUclips Live to hold their mass? I’m sorry to hear that some religious communities are shrinking, but this sounds like finger pointing. Just because someone has lost their faith in organized religion, doesn’t mean they lost their faith in God. P.S. let us not forget that churches and religious organizations are also exempt from income tax in the U.S.
Spiritual isn’t worth squat. Salvation is not had by being spiritual. I’m Christian so I believe that Christ took on the sins of the world. #ApostlesCreed

This video is more about losing churches than losing religion. As smaller churches close, larger megachurches are opening. As so many "Christians" drive our politics, I doubt religion is lacking participants.
It's Christian belief in general. There's a steady decline in the US of people who say they are Christian. This matches other western countries, although the US is a generation or two behind. And mega churches tend to have a short(ish) lifecycle... they don't tend to last because they depend on a high turnover rate that fails quicker.
Dude you should read about all the stuff in the Bible on that. The main enemies of Jesus were the Pharisees, who followed their religion so uptight but hated it. Jesus showed us a way to get past that, but many have reverted to old habits.
As a devout Catholic born and raised in Chicago This has been happening to Catholic Churches in every diocese across the United States since the late 1970s this is nothing new especially in Chicago
It's because Catholics, by and large, support a certain politician whose behaviors and actions aren't loving or Christian. If being Catholic leads so many to support someone who promotes racism, s*xual ab*se, and sexual violence towards women, I want nothing to do with it. Being religious does not automatically make you a good person, and I think Catholics often forget that...
In all love and respect I have a question, why are you labeling yourself as a "devout Catholic" and not a Christian?? Do you put Catholicism before God's Word? Do you believe in transubstantiation? Do you believe there to be more mediators in heaven other than Jesus Christ?? Do you believe the (RCIA) program is Biblical? Brother get out of that false church and come stand in the correct Gospel don't let yourself be condemned with those who support false teachings and boast in works. "I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting him who called you in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel not that there is another one but there are some who trouble you & want to distort the gospel of Christ. But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received let him be accursed." "For it is by grace you have been saved through Faith, and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God not of works so that no one can boast." "Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord." "And to the one who does not work but believes in Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted as righteous." "And whosoever liveth and believeth in Me shall shall never die? Do you believe?" "The work of God is this, to believe in the one He sent." "There is one God, and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus." This is the same message and program Jesus taught and this is the same message and program the Apostles taught. We shall stand on this Rock of Truth or else we stand condemned. "Anyone who falls on this stone will be broken into pieces, anyone on whom it falls will be crushed."
The trend of traditional church is closing and feel good, watered -down churches that feel more like motivational speakers with smoke machines, coffee bars has been on the rise.
Because its easier to attend the "watered-down" church with 1500+ members, slip in, drink some coffee, worship, go home. I hope for a resurgence of the small, community based traditional church in America
@@Cardinal03I’ve got one of those smaller churches in a relatively urban area. I tried just one of those non-denominational churches with several hundred people in the congregation… the pastor was boring and it was clear there was hardly any sense of community, I read from the book of proverbs and Ecclesiastes the entire time. I much preferred the Lutheran Church which I had tried before earlier, and it’s what I have today. God sent me to the right place!
This is not true. These churches were probably those watered down ones that closed, even though they might be part of a larger traditional Church. Traditional churches like sspx are on the rise.
Not in my Catholic Church and the other Catholic Churches I attend on Sundays. It’s full and crowded. I’m filled with joy when this is the case. I sense that people are still relying to God and seeking hope with Him. Trying to make God to still be the center of their lives.
So happy to hear that. I too am Catholic and our mass is pretty empty… mainly older people go, there’s a big number of young people not going sadly. There have been masses that we have attended where there are only a handful of children, including my two boys…😢

@@Swagtastic225 its not. its all right there in the book of mythology called Genesis, and in many other mythological works as well. I wouldn't attend a church that told me "you have to believe Genesis happened literally." that would be like joining a club that demands you accept Tolkien's works as actual history.
It's not "my god is better than your god" it's "my religion is better than your religion" and in the case of Christianity, it's "become a Christian or you'll be thrown into hellfire".
You are illustrating Romans 2:14-16 Even Gentiles, who do not have God’s written law, show that they know his law when they instinctively obey it, even without having heard it. 15 They demonstrate that God’s law is written in their hearts, for their own conscience and thoughts either accuse them or tell them they are doing right. 16 And this is the message I proclaim-that the day is coming when God, through Christ Jesus, will judge everyone’s secret life. The Bible is the best selling book in history for a reason. There is a reason why you see 2024 on your calendar. Jesus is the most important person who ever lived. All of history revolves around them. You can claim you don't need Him, but in all reality, He doesn't need you. You DO need Him. Your conscience is shaped by the Holy Spirit. Your Creator implanted His laws upon your heart, preprogramming you to know what is right and wrong, but the more you ignore it, the more hateful you become.
Not attending church isn’t the same as not believing in God. I’m no frequent church goer and yet I still pray to God every night. So no, America is not losing its religion.
I think that it is, but probably not as drastically as people think. Because as you said, a lot of people don't go to a traditional church at a traditional time butt still seek a relationship with God and their fellow Christians. Even through other means which our modern world allows. Online services, different servers, non traditional meet-ups, showing up to trusted associates homes, or something as minor as Wednesday night bible studies are just some other methods used.
Definitely true, but it seems that not participating in a church community ultimately leads to not practicing the faith at all, for most people at least
“Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) and let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.” Hebrews 10:23-25 KJV
Thank you for this. I abandoned my faith about 10 years ago and haven't been a church goer since. However, I've had my faith renewed and looking to go back to a church. People love to use all types of excuses to justify their abandonment of the faith and regular church attendance; I am guilty of doing so too. But the reality is that if we believe in the gospel and believe in the salvation that Christ brings to us, then it's our duty to attend the church. Not because the Bible compels us to do so. But because the church is the closest we can get to a heaven on earth experience. After all, the kingdom of heaven will be full of His creations singing and praising the King of Kings. We may as well prepare ourselves for what is waiting for us in heaven.

I’ve been donating at least $20 a week to every church service I attend. I think there is evil in this world, and churches, mosques, and temples can help people resist against this. Sometimes I go 2-3 times a week to religious services. Religion tells people they are valuable and worthy, that there is purpose to life. Secular society has brought havoc on my family and preys on the young and vulnerable. ❤

Sure, they do not pay taxes, but they do pay for electricity, gas for heat, phone service, internet service, groundskeeping, the office person, the pastor gets some money even if it’s not a lot. (Pastors have to buy food, gasoline, clothes, etc.) Sometimes, or even often, the pianist/organist gets paid. So, yeah, until that’s all free, they “need money to stay open”. A small congregation dropping $2 in a collection plate will not go far, especially if that church turns around and donates some of that to those in need.
I have seen churches in the poorest neighborhoods, with the smallest funds, feeding and clothing homeless people. Not just once or twice. Countless times. And they are yet endlessly mocked.

It's crazy how that one lady said the members of her church are her family and she doesn't want the church to close because she doesn't want to lose her family. You see that in many religions. Your local congregation are your "friends", but if you leave the church or move away, your new congregation are your "friends". In this case, if the other members were truly her "family", she wouldn't lose them just because a building closed. They would still get together to do things they love and she wouldn't worry about losing them. That tells me their only joint activities are church related and outside of church they have no real friendship.
Yes, there certainly is a lot of hypocrisy among them just as there was in Jesus” day. The teachings of the churches aren’t based at all on the truth of the Bible or on the teachings of Jesus. It’s a sad fact that many people are unaware of what the Bible really says and therefore don’t know that very shortly God is going to make drastic changes on the earth for the benefit of everyone who wants to live in peace and harmony with everybody else. By means of his heavenly Kingdom government he is going to remove all human governments and everyone causing harm to others. (Matthew 6:10; Daniel 2:44; Proverbs 2:21, 22) As King of the Kingdom, Jesus will bring true peace and security to the entire earth and lovingly care for every individual’s needs. Unfortunately yes, I understand some of the reasons why, what I don’t agree with is what’s replacing it, hedonism, individualism, division across generations and horizontally, substance drugs, behavioral drugs (video games, digital devices, social media), greed. We need community oriented centers to come together again. We’re paying this with our mental and social health.
I don't think that religion is something that specifically needs replacing, many go their whole lives without it. For some born into it, I could see viewing it as a void, but for others, it's not so. To me, so long as we love one another, do what's right, and be supportive where possible, we can all get along.
Sorry but some of those things aren't as bad as you think they are and not replacing religion....matter of fact nothing is really replacing religion at all.

Most people are religious through no choice of their own. We’re all brought up as children and forced through whatever religious identity your parents are in. It’s very hard to have a relationship with the man above when you have not experienced heartache yourself. That’s why it’s not surprising that people stray away from religion and their mid 20s to mid 30s only to return after 35 years old. That’s because, once you’re out of answers or have no control over what’s going on in your life you look for guidance. Which is why we return to religion later in life They’re right, when everything is good the last thing you do is think about prayer. When you have no control over what’s going on in your life when there’s a loss of job, your car break down, someone dies, you search for answers that no man can give you. With the church being for profit nowadays it’s easy for people to stay away. When the churches were getting all the money from the tithes, there were no investments put into the community that supported them. No new housing complexes, no help with assisting them with the medical bills or housing bills. All the money went to furnishing the new home for the pastor, raising their salary and buying their kids luxury cars. It’s also small town churches too. Once they start seeing the money roll in the churches starts to change as it becomes just about money. I’m convinced that people will return to religion, but I do not think a majority of people will return to the church.
True. Good times make people think they don’t need God. Discipline comes from “disciple.” Being a follower of Jesus requires forming habits. All parents rear their children according their beliefs, and everyone has a choice in what they believe (even if forced to attend church). Yet even children from religious households get catechized into secularism because it’s the air we breathe. Many also leave their faith because they fear disapproval of the world rather than God. It takes courage to be religious in a culture increasingly hostile to believers. Religion is inseparable from community. The root words means “to bind.” Thus why it’s said “where two or three are gathered, God is present.” Being off on one’s own is a recipe for spiritual narcissism or apostasy. Not an option for Catholics and Orthodox who must receive the sacraments. People today are worshipping politics, celebrities, fandom, identity, sexuality, or the occult like New Age stuff. Anything that feels good and never requires them to transform. They’ll eventually find it unsatisfying and at least consider traditional religion later.
It is is usually the kids who are forced to be religious because their parents have regrets so they try to project on to you. It is the same with all the religious nuts and preachers. They did things in the past that they have regrets and now they created a persona of their own. Things happen in your life because it is a mind set that needed to be changed in the past, but you made decisions that cause problems and hence why things are happening in the present. For me, religion corrupted my mind set and created problems for me in my life because it fills you with idea that you are powerless in your own path and must accept why those who have more money and power can live a better life. I still need to detox some of my childhood religious ideas, but they become rooted in your mind. It is all socioeconomics in the end. We all want a good and healthy life and to live life with family in peace. That is every rational human being, but in reality these things may not happen for everybody due to factors such as money, being raised by narcissistic and bad parents, unhealthy family environment, bad health. This world can be either heaven or hell for everybody. If nuclear war happens, then it is hell for everybody and human beings caused this.
@ You cannot force someone to be religious. Either you believe or you don’t. You can force someone to attend church or say prayers at dinner but you can’t make anyone believe something they don’t want to
@@AliciatheCho What are you talking about? You can’t FORCE a child to go to Bible Study? You can’t FORCE a child to be Baptized? You can’t FORCE a child to participate in communion? Most people identify as Christians at a young age. Not because of their “revelation” but because of the intense psychological drilling of religion starting at a young age. The same applies to a racist. Most grow up in an environment that fosters their beliefs. Until they leave that environment and come into their own truths. Maybe they stay a racist or maybe they don’t. The same applies with religion. Until someone is able to THINK on their own and reason or conclude as to what they want or believe, you will always have this detachment from parental guidance. That’s why it’s no surprise that younger people are not as religious as older people. Once they have their own experiences that draw them back to religion, then it matters. Sort of a Make Catholicism Great Again movement. I think you're right. It seems the people who are staying faithful, are those who are most conservative in their religious (and political) views. In the northeast where it has historically been Catholic, it’s shaking but in the southwest, there’s been stability if not growth. Glad to hear the parish in the Finger Lakes is growing though
The question more is, what's happening at these churches? Why are people not attending services? what are the pastor/priests teaching when people show up? Does society allow people to take religious days off?
_"what are the pastor/priests teaching when people show up?"_ That's something I've been wondering. I haven't been in a church in decades, so I can't judge any sermons from personal experience. Debatable. They both go hand in hand.
“Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) and let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.”

Church has nothing to do with Christianity and is a pagan tradition.

I’ve been donating at least $20 a week to every church service I attend. I think there is evil in this world, and churches, mosques, and temples can help people resist against this.

Hypocrisy is the Gospel of today's religious adherents. I want no part of it.
Which is why we return to religion later in life
They’re right, when everything is good the last thing you do is think about prayer.
So yes, people are FORCED to be religious, go to college, get married, etc. Study Sociology then it will make sense.

I do wish that the religious folks were right about the world; it would mean that something was coming to save us from ourselves. Unfortunately, that does not appear to be the case at all.
Many need to hear--God, our Creator, has not abandoned us nor this world! The holy scriptures show that God is the Creator and Sustainer of all things, including man (see Genesis 1-2). The perfect world he created changed when the first man, Adam, broke God's law, bringing God's judgment of death into the world (see Genesis 3). As Adam was a sinner, so are all people, and likewise face God's judgment (see Romans 5:12). To rescue us from sin and death, God sent his only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to be the Savior of men (see 1 John 4:14). Jesus is Emmanuel, 'God with us' (see Matthew 1:23). Fully God and fully man, he suffered and died for our sins upon the cross, was buried, and rose again the third day so that we sinners could receive the forgiveness of sins through faith in him (see 1 Corinthians 15:3-4, John 3:16). God's will is that every person would believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and receive his gift of eternal life. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord (Romans 6:23).
(Part 1 of 2)
Jesus is Emmanuel, 'God with us' (see Matthew 1:23). (Part 2 of 2)
@@sdlorah6450 Romans 9:13 So it is written: "Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated." Esau = Emmanuel. Emmanuel = Jesus. God hates Jesus confirmed!
Jesus Christ is returning soon!
Our Catholic parish out in the Finger Lakes is growing, so I think it's really location dependent.
What is happening is their filthy secret is out! They have been blood libeling their way through the centuries.
_"what are the pastor/priests teaching when people show up?"_
That's something I've been wondering. I haven't been in a church in decades, so I can't judge any sermons from personal experience. I can only say the Christians I interact with in the wider world leave a very bad impression. It's like they're being trained to have all the vices and none of the virtues.
A lot of very fearful and cruel people who leave everything they touch worse than when they found it.
The thing is that there are mega churches preaching easy and prosperous things even when not true. The real pastors speaking from the Bible often give the truth and the truth is not easy to hear and people want their ears tickled. The American gospel is an easy gospel. The gospel of Jesus Christ is persecution and suffering. Which one sounds more appealing?
The church is not a building the church can never be closed .
People leave religion, because they are fed up being indoctrinated with sin and damnation, for which there is no evidence.
*While this is sad, Christianity is thriving in the East. Syria, one of the oldest ancient Christian communities, has finally started their mass after the fall of Assad :)*
May Christ protect them from the forces plotting against them.
And it should remain in the desert.
