Thank you so much for watching our videos and supporting us!
I love how Smithy said "I always do good early then..." And then fail the sentence. It's poetic.
Congratulations Chris 'Common Knowledge' Trott. Some excellent plays!
I’m only halfway through and thumbsed up his thinking it was ironic
@@leavy I knew it was very possible, but only because the last round is bullshit.
And consolidations to Alex "wombat expert" smith for an ok attempt at this game
@@leavy it was a classic comeback
Victoria falls are in Africa as well😂😂
Literally the only one I knew.
For that round I literally thought if in doubt Colonialism, it's probably the English one.
Only know that because of Top Gear lol
@@Pistolsatsean same XD
I think Smith was thinking of visctoria Island, in Canada. Its next to vancouver
You weren't kidding when you said you know nothing about geography! God damn! Victoria is possibly the best known African lake, with Victoria Falls and all.
It is renowned and very well known to be an African name, Victoria.
i think they confused it with Victoria, British Columbia which is right on a boarder of water because smith mentioned Canada
The association with the Nile and all that
Isn't it also the largest lake in Africa?
@@Elzzaw well colonialism will do that
"That's good knowledge, slightly inaccurate but I can appreciate it" - Classic Smithy
"It was like an American president" neither man was ever president
"Its because you're less than half the man I am, Trott" Lydia is the best!
Chris "its common knowledge, everyone should know these" Trott 16:26
Trott may have won the battle but he hasn't won the war.
Always spoilers
@SquidGame You must retaliate with the power of the seas!!
Be sensible and read comments at the end, usually a video's comments should/will talk about events in the video evotech.
Plz continue to collab with the hats
You'll all kick yourselves over not picking the Tasman Sea, once I say the name "Tasmania" and you realise "oh, Tasman + ia = Tasmania"...
'It can't be Ministry of Sound, it was too obvious'
It was so obvious Trott, it was actually true... What a shock! LoL
Why would you think Ireland was a trick question? The Irish border issue is an issue because it’s an EU border? Thought everyone would know that by now given how much it’s talked about?
not everyone gives as much of a shit
yeah i mean for fucks sake... if you're british the only valid excuse for not knowing the roi is in the eu is if you are a child or mentally impaired.
What's an Irish border? I'm from the UK and I've never heard of it.
@@ShaneOfThrones The border that seperates northern ireland/UK from republic ireland. The border that if it is not closed when brexit happens(which they won't), means that anything/anyone from the EU could travel freely through to the UK. (meaning brexit would cause the UK to loose all positives from being in the EU while having all the negatives). Not from anywhere close to the UK and even I know what a joke it is.
@@coast2coast00 eh let it happen, I want the government to suffer.
Lydia really puts the L in Hat Films.
cerperalpurpose HALT Films??
Victoria falls is still in Africa by the way.
Smith notes (incorrectly) that Bell invents bifocals and when it's discovered it was Ben Franklin, he (incorrectly) refers to him as an American President. That's fine, but of course then (incorrectly) disparages the question as "slightly inaccurate". He doesn't know the answers but has the temerity to question the facts presented in the game itself. CLASSIC SMITH.
He was saying that Ross's knowledge was slightly innacurate, not the question. Please don't slate the guy if you don't listen to the video.
@@TheMharr It would seem you say a different video then.
@@Betuor Listen again. Smith says something like 'Oh it was one of the American presidents, good knowledge. Slightly innacurate, but I can appreciate it'. As in, good knowledge for knowing it was one of the old American (non)presidents, but slightly innacurate for not knowing which.
@@TheMharr That is not how I took it and I'm pretty sure that is not how Smith meant it
@@Betuor That's exactly how Smith meant it. Nobody thinks Edison is an ex-US president, lots of people think both Jefferson and Franklin are. Why would he say "Oh so it WAS one of the US presidents" if he was talking about Edison? Especially straight after Ross said who it was.
only ten minutes in and trott is showing off his true intellect
Red Sea, Trott? RED SEA??? WTF
edit: 26:43 uhhh how did this happen
LOL wow.
Ik they're english but good god...
"Who invented the bifocals?"
"Was it alexander..."
"Hamilton." (Wrong)
"Graham Bell" (lol definitely not)
"It was Ben Franklin"
"Ah, so another American President" (Lmao so wrong on so many levels)
what's being English got to do with anything? I'm English and knew that Franklin invented the glasses and he was a founding father not a president...
Trott is one of those people they interview when they want to prove Americans have no basic understanding of anything happening in the world. "Erm, this country is... Africa?"
"They speak Brazilian in Brazil, Spanish in Portugal, and Venus is a gas giant" Honestly I thought our education system in America was terrible but watching these people play these quiz games and consistently miss basic knowledge questions makes me question if the British one is even worse. Lol. At least Trott's got his good looks
Marquinator92 nah I’d say the English system is probably slightly better, but still pretty shit.
@@marquinator92 One of the main differneces IMO is that the British system, or at least the one in England and Wales, is more aimed at specialisation, so even the smarter people tend to not be that great outside 'their area', so to speak. For example, as a uni student, I do great at Geography and History, but keep me away from anything mathematical or scientific, especially anything technical.
@@marquinator92 higher education in the UK is great, the university system and all that. Honestly though the school system is dog shit and has been getting worse.
I love these lads, but the ignorance in this was off the charts
It wouldn't bother me if it weren't for Smiffy being so damn sure of himself!
lol, Smiffy acts so smart...and yet....he really isnt
@@Killingglorie he's just being confident. He isn't claiming to be the smartest person alive
@@Killingglorie you anuses
Smith's comment about Ben Franklin being an American President is what broke me
Ben Franklin impersonator: "I never actually was president"
Smith: "I know but Ben Franklin was"
I think Trivial Pursuit videos are the best because I can read all the ragey comments afterwards for an added bonus
Who hasn’t heard of lake Victoria?!
A lot of people. Is this a trick question?
Max Streuber It's Africa's largest lake, origin of the Nile and was featured in a Top Gear challenge episode.
@@Spekingur Africa, that well-known tourist destination for all. Oh wait.
@@benrodir2 you do a lot of stuff on Africa in primary school and as said above it was in a top gear episode. So I good chance a lot of people heard of it
@@IBoudiaf Depends in what country you live
Thanks Smithy for knowing we speak Portuguese in Brazil!
Trott for the win. I was cheering so hard for him to win... lol That was an awesome vid. Thanks guys.
Lydia is a great addition to the channel, I hope you guys have her around more often
The 'Saturn and the Moon' series of questions was interesting actually, because the answer to one question came back and helped with another. The answer to one of the questions was that Saturn was named after the Roman god of agriculture, then later it asked which of the two answers had the sickle as it's astrological symbol (A sickle obviously being a tool used in farming). If you remembered the previous questions you could have answered it with no prior knowledge.
Can we get Bouphe in??
At 11:47 Smith calls Ben Franklin an American president. I know they're not American but, come on.
Also they implied that thomas edison was as well in the same sentence. I think they're confusing him for thomas jefferson
Are you trying tell me that not all of the founding fathers were president?
probably at least 25% of americans think Franklin is a president so you can't really fault him that much
@@markleyp03 Actually, they were implying that Alexander Hamilton was a US president (11:30). He wasn't either, but at least that's closer than Thomas Edison.
I mean he was technically President of Pennsylvania. Surely Smith knows his way around 18th century American gubernatorial politics. Right?
No one gonna talk about when Lydia said "to felate" then looked at the camera and rose her eyebrows? At 2:49
I love Ross mentioning Alexander Hamilton XD
I’m still laughing at Smiffy saying that Ben Franklin was an American President
People often make that mistake. He was one of the founding fathers, but never a president.
...I came to the comments before I watched the video and NO ONE had mentioned Trott chose Portugal as a Spanish speaking country? NO ONE??
As a portuguese, I was also shocked. But we get used to people outside Portugal not knowing anything about Portugal.
I would say all the comments regarding trot’s sudden mental deficiency includes that
@@uchihaferdinan16 Portugal is the number one producer of cork in the world and Algarve has really nice oranges and I think Coimbra is famous for its university and the country was established in the Requonqista by crusaders.
I think that's all true off the top of my head. Breath of fresh air from an Australian lusophile? (:
@@FreshlyBakedLePain Thank you! Everything is correct! You recieve the official portuguese Internet seal of approval, use it wisely. As a bonus fact, portuguese is the most spoken language in the southern hemisphere.
probably because he immediately corrected himself and pointed out how stupid he was.
The glass harmonica was also invented by Ben Franklin. It's also a big table top instrument, not the same as the small metal mouth harmonica.
*Insert witty joke about Trotts intelligence here*
I was so happy for Trott. He was so sullen when he was losing before his big comeback.
I didn’t know Justin Roiland was apart of HatFilms!
fuck he does look like him doesn't he
I miss BOT Duncan
WarmNut 000
Bot Duncan was a no good rotten scumbag! *spits on floor*
His name was AI Duncan. Way to not even care. (I only remember it because I always read it as AL Duncan)
Only ross believes a gas is more solid than rock
Ever heard of the famed Smiffy Fart(tm)?
Well we all know the moon is a gas giant
Amazing Trott what an amazing comeback
I wanted to read the comments but it's just a bunch of angry people talking about Ireland, back to the video.
Guys, Ireland isnt north ireland. ireland is the republic, north is uk. If its just Ireland, they mean our own country
Ireland belongs to the English, always has, always will, suck it up, paddy.
Pattoe bit racist
Also it doesn't matter which part of Ireland they are talking because in 2014 (and it's still true for the moment) both ROI and UK are in the EU... that is what Brexit is haha
@@Pattoe thats extremely racist. and no, it doesnt belong to the english. it did for many years when ye forced our culture out and made us starve. but in 1916 we lost a war between uk and ireland and said that the uk would rule 6 counties while the rest belong to us. hence when brexit comes into play there will be a wall put up between the north and republic. dumbass
@@4F0xSake it does, because the republic is staying in the eu. while the north will be gone with brexit. that is why a hard boarder is being put up
The Lydia hat films squad works v well together :)
Trott with that win outta nowhere!
7:42 Wow, poor Smithy was just shut down XD XD Don't let 'em get to you Smith, it was a good thought process, haha
Also wooo! What a comeback from Chris Trott! Even though I was rootin' for Ross, watching Trott just take the lead so quickly was quite satisfying!
I love these board game 'ports'. And I also love that you guys are playing them!
I've recently been playing the Master System one because i'm so cool.
Peep everyone’s face at 26:43 HAHAHA. Ross has me dead.
This is my favourite HALT films video.
"Benjamin Franklin, oh so it was like an American President" Good ol' Ben Frank, classically known for being a US President.
To be fair, there's a Lake Victoria in Canada too.
I also eliminated Lake Victoria because it's Canadian :P
Though to be fair, the African Lake Victoria is 460 times larger, and is in the middle of a heavily populated area. The Canadian lake Victoria is literally in the middle of nowhere Newfoundland.
I thought Leicester City winning the Premier League was the greatest underdog story of my lifetime, but Chris Trott coming back to win this game of Trivial Pursuit may have just beaten it.
So true! :D
wow that Stalin and Lenin round was so easy i mean dont they teach anything at school
And the Russian revolution is so memey that if anything that’s what people know about
yes we're taught things at school but that was like 14 years ago and why should I remember all that bullshit? lol
Ross: "Benjamin Franklin!"
Smith: "Oh so it was like an American president."
The Ignorance is palpable.
well they're not from america are they?
Hat Films and Lydia--FUCK YES!
Ah yes my favorite president Benjamin Franklin
The Tasman Sea sits between the Pacific, the Indian Ocean, and the Southern Ocean. I know because I'm in it.
Lake Victoria, aka the biggest lake in Africa is the one none of them know?
Benjamin Franklin is my favorite American President - Alstiffy
"Benjamin Franklin? Well, at least it was an American president." Alex Smith
OMG THE ENDING...WOW. THE UPSET OF 2019
Just realized Trott randomly makes a weird "I'm trying to fart without shitting my pants" face every so often
Smiffy, Trotty, Rossy & Squidy. The new Hat Films.
Ireland joined the EU (EEC) the same year as the UK.. Ah lads..
Bois.
Alien was made by Ridley Scott.
Aliens was made by James Cameron.
"The Tasman Sea is Indian". And the North Sea is in the Southern Ocean, is it, Smith?
Anyone notice that when smith starts winning he starts talking way more and saying more facts haha
Lake Victoria, the source of the River nile
I like how Smith says he was thinking of Victoria Falls which is still in Africa right next to Victoria lake
"Trottimus will get a headstart next round!" *Getsnoheadstart* ...
Lake Victoria was the only one I was 100% sure about, surprised no one got it.
When Smith says Benjamin Franklin is a president and I still think he’s the smartest of the three
i too enjoy "smith sings half of one line of seven dozen different songs for no reason" pursuit
Smithy 'Ohh I was thinking of Victoria Falls' when actually thinking of Niagra Falls xD
Victoria Falls are in Africa xD
This format is not portraying real trivial knowledge. There is no reason for latter rounds to get you more points, because they are basically 50-50 and very easy. To be honest, Trott did deserve to come last, but thanks to disbalanced point system he got his "prize" for being lucky, not skillful. I know, it's a game, but come on...
Chris Trott best comeback 2019
Trrrrrooot! Omg. How?
Sorry. I'm not one for calling people out on RUclips... but... WHAT?!?
Can't wait to se Trott as Spock in season 2 of Star Trek Discovery. What a great role to land, masive congratulations.
Complains that a question is too hard when they don't know it, say they are too easy when they do know it.
the comeback of a lifetime
I screamed so hard when trott won my parents ran into my room, because they thought something was wrong.
Upset of the century!
Just for information Victoria Falls is in Africa. It’s between Zimbabwe and Zambia.
Benjamin Franklin was one of the few Founding Fathers who was never president, Smith.
Lydia is the secret fourth Hat Films member
did not see that win coming, nicely done
As a Michigander, watching Smiff pick Superior as lake in Africa made me chuckle.
Biggest comeback in history
Smiffy, Benjamin Franklin was not a US President. He was one of the founding fathers of the US, though.
Lake victoria is probably the most famous lake in the world
You know, every time Lydia is around, it reinforces my theory her and Trott are banging.
gonna be honest...started this video going "how hard could this be?' but jesus christ I could smoke these guys...
I'm the captain of my high school trivia team so watching these dudes stumble their way through this is hilarious
Edit: this is not meant as a brag, I just enjoy seeing people react to the same kind of questions I have come across in tournaments and jazz. They're actually not terrible 👍
Wow, brag about it
Does captain of Trivia team mean you just knows things??? Like strategy? Team?? Whaaat?
Dylan Pritchard these kind of weird, out dated questions appear a lot so I find it funny watching other people react to them
TripleAGaming I guess I don’t understand the Trivia meta.
@@srkarespeople were giving me crap so I sugercoated it since it wasn't intended to be insulting haha
Trott went from edge lord to wedge lord.
Ive been reading chat and i can see some of my fellow irish got slightly confused with the guys and lydia thinking ireland was a trick question. I seen many fights and i want to help keep peace in chat. If u listen carefully u will here why they thought it was a trick question as ross and trott said "some of it" will leave after brexit. They didnt think ireland was uk, they recognise ROI and NI. I hope i helped to clear things up and i hope everyone has a nice day/night/morning 😁
Sorry, are we just going to glaze over that Trott said that James Cameron made Alien.
Värnen lake is in Sweden
some of these questions trott must have got wrong on purpose
MORE LYDIA!!!!!!!!
Lake Victoria in Canada too :P
I'm gonna pick this name because it sounds imperialistic, proceeds to completely ignore the most obvious imperial name
Lydiaaaaaaa and the Boys! Ilove her
Nice look you gave the camera after talking about "to filate" Lydia
