Ingredients:
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup horseradish, well-drained
2 tbsp chopped fresh dill or 1 tsp dried
Pinch of pepper
1 sheet of puff pastry, thawed
6 ounces thinly sliced roast beef
4 ounces Gruyere cheese, grated
1 large egg, preferably at room temp.
Instructions:
-Mix together mayonnaise, drained horseradish, dill and pepper. Set aside.
-Roll puff pastry to a 12” x 12” square.
-Spread mayonnaise evenly over puff pastry leaving an approximate 1/2” border.
-Arrange beef slices evenly over mayonnaise.
-Sprinkle the Gruyere evenly over beef slices.
-Whisk the egg until frothy.
-Brush the back edge with egg wash.
-Starting at the front edge, roll up tightly and evenly.
-Wrap the log snuggly in plastic wrap and chill for 1-24 hours.
-Preheat oven to 375°F.
-Trim the ends of the log and then cut into 1/2” - 3/4” slices.
-Arrange slices on a parchment-lined baking tray at least an inch apart.
-Bake in preheated oven for 22-24 minutes.
-Allow to rest on the pan for a couple of minutes and then move to a serving plate.
