I really feel for you ... and agree wholeheartedly ... the medications are so dangerous ... my daughter was recently diagnosed with crohn's (perianal) and put on two immunosuppressants (biologics ... remicade and azathioprine) ... the doctor said there is a risk of skin cancer with these medication... and lymphoma ... amongst the most common ... but she reassured me that was mostly in patients who had been on these drugs for "DECADES" ... I did my own research ... there is scientific evidence from medical journals ... revealing small children are diagnosed with lymphoma within a YEAR of taking these same drugs (and various other biologics)!!!! They say my daughter will most definitely get bowel cancer is she doesn't go on these drugs ... but the drugs that will presumably protect her from bowel cancer ... will, most likely, give her some other form of cancer ...
if not ... she may even drop dead during an infusion ... or a day after ... weeks after ... or months ... there is no indicator ... it's just a "risk" ...
so each time she goes for another infusion ... I need to take sedatives to help me cope with the anticipation ... trying to come to terms with that fact that I have no other alternative ... that I am taking my daughter to the firing squad ...
I die a thousand excruciating deaths every day ... consumed with worry ... I cry when alone ... when driving sometimes I scream ... and scream ... and SCREAM ... because I am suffocating with fear for my poor child ... I have damaged my vocal chords ... people often as me if I should see a doctor because they think I have a cold or virus ...
I have spent every waking moment for nearly a year desperately trying to find "hope" ... but there is none ... just horror ...
I can't afford to have a nervous breakdown ... because my daughter needs me ...

Thank you for this. I've suffered from Crohns for 44 years. I was advised by a knee surgeon to lose a lot of weight. I decided go zero carb and just eat meat and eggs only. Water and rooibos tea to drink. Ive lost 32kg in 7 months without really trying at all. But the real miracle happened within a few weeks. I went from running to the loo 15 times a day, terrible pain, losing blood to going only once a week. I rarely have pain anymore or any other Crohns symptoms. I get really emotional just thinking about it. I wish all Crohns suffers could get to try this. Its so very simple and easy to do. So life changing. God bless you all.

I’m almost 53 and have never felt better . I had my CRP (inflammatory markers ) checked and they were zero which is perfect . It takes a bit for your body to heal but I promise you it can . Those of us with autoimmune diseases like Crohn’s need to be more strict. I’ve , after 2 + years , added back in some olives , avocado, pickle, asparagus and iceberg lettuce on occasions. Honestly though , my body prefers and craves meat and fat so that is what I mostly eat . I do take magnesium and liver and intestines suppleness from ancestral (I have no affiliation with them, just really like their stuff ) and vitamin D if I can’t spend 30 minutes in the sun . Super interesting video Doc, this is what I've spoken about a lot on my YT channel. As a Crohn's sufferer for over 7 years I've been through it all with regards to meds and surgeries. A carnivore diet indeed did help in the department of reduced intestinal cramping, but it also makes you feel very fatigued - which improved for me after bringing in raw fermented dairy. I've believed for a long time now that Crohn's is bacterial related, however I can tell you in my experience, that it isn't so much a pathological species that contribute to the symptoms, but an overgrowth of normal/commensal bacteria in the wrong places (such as the small intestine) fermenting foods where they really shouldn't be. Following a carnivore diet for over a year didn't 'fix' me, unfortunately I'm not convinced it gets to the route cause of the problem, which I strongly believe to be either a bacterial overgrowth in the small intestine, or an issue with the autonomic nervous system due to an accumulation of physical and emotional trauma. I'm sure I'm not the only one out there who's onset of Crohn's Disease had seemingly nothing to do with diet, and a lot to do with an external stressor

      @robertcywes2966 4 года назад +4

@@robertcywes2966 If you're referring to the work of Dr. Thomas Borody and FMT (Fecal microbiome transplants) he has done incredible work and saved many lives. Highly respected. Met with him personally at various gastroenterology conferences internationally. Clearly it is not needed for all GI conditions. Primarily it is used for C. Diff patients but also for crohns and UC with varying degrees of effectiveness. I wouldn't rule it out. I've done it for 3 months 5 days /week had severe crohns and UC on heavy meds, anti Tumor necrosis factor alpha, shots every other day .... etc. I put things in remission enough (dramatically)for me to focus on diet and get entirely off meds for at least the last 7 years.
Ones microbiome is indeed created 'downstream' from ones diet and digestive abilities so that is in the end the most important factor to work on. No doubt.

Thank you so much for this wonderful video. I've suffered from crohn's since I was 14 (I'm 29 now.) What you said about the pain is so accurate. Crohn's flare pain is absolutely horrific and it triggers the worst anxiety throughout my body. For me, nothing compares to that pain. Two weeks ago I started a carnivore diet because I am determined to be medication free (currently taking 150mg azathioprine) and I am tired of feeling sick and so dead tired all the time. A couple years ago I was taking full doses of Prednisone, budesonide, mesalamine and azathioprine all together. The side effects on top of the disease were beyond awful and I was mentally drained and defeated by my crohn's. I did my best to live my life and try to ignore and hide the pain and just deal with it but really I cried every day. I eventually figured out that vegetables and fruits made my crohn's hurt the worst and it helped a tremendously to cut them out of my diet. Many times I had kept trying to eat more vegetables because at the time I believed they were the best thing for me. I even tried juicing for quite a while but gave up on that after it continually made my crohn's worse. I am hopeful that a carnivore lifestyle will help me slowly wean off my medicine. But there's a key piece of the Crohn's puzzle that I don't often hear people talk about, and that is stress/anxiety. If there is a high stress situation, I will be running to the bathroom the next day with diarrhea, sometimes having accidents because sometimes I can't run to the bathroom fast enough. So while I think diet plays a large part in Crohn's disease, I am concerned that it is not the only contributor. I grew up in a very stressful, abusive home where I lived in intense fear, anxiety and worry much of the time and I can't help but wonder if that contributed to my disease. I just recently moved across the country to a new state and am free from that stressful life so I am trying to learn and practice controlling my anxiety in conjunction with the carnivore diet. I previously always felt so hopeless about my crohn's ever getting better. But now I have a newfound hope and positive attitude about it and I'm so excited to be doing this experiment. Thank you for being brave by taking a stand against traditional Crohn's treatments. Thank you for giving me more encouragement and hope. My eyes are filling with happy tears just thinking about the possibility of my body healing, both emotionally and physically. :)

Thankyou for sharing your testimony of life with Crohn’s disease. Yes it is a very debilitating disease. It’s much enduring a period of active flare ups. I have had Crohn’s for 35 yrs now. I too grew up in a terribley abusive circumstance which caused I believe the auto immune defended to go hay wire n hence Crohn’s disease was the result. I believe you are on the right track doing as close to carnivore as you can. It’s very hard I know but if you really want to be well n pain free that’s your answer. Cut down your meds slowly as well. ( but I’m not a GP or Doctor, that’s just a personal experience) I am on no medications at all these days. I did have my first resection done about 18months ago it has been great. Very very helpful.

This is great news. I lost my uncle to Crohn's Disease. He was diagnosed at age 18, and had a lot of his intestines removed. He was always taking Metamucil, and eating veggies. He was in excruciating pain, all the time. I wish he was around to try this. It probably would have saved his life.

Thank you so much for posting this. Your assessment could not be more spot on. I am a (former) Crohn's sufferer and basically cured myself over the past few years using the low--to-no carb approach you are describing. It took a while to figure it out after a lot of trial and error and the with help of a nutritionist. But my conventional doctors were just prescribing more and more meds to treat what had become pretty unmanageable symptoms but not actually address or correct the root cause of the problem. I am symptom and med free now and only wish I figured all this out a little earlier to avoid many years of suffering. Thank you again your videos are remarkably helpful and full of useful content. This one in particular articulates and consolidates what took me a long time to figure out. Anyone out there suffering from Crohn's symptoms would do very well to follow this approach and save yourself a lot of misery.

Lost over 25kg of weight, issues with kidneys, liver etc. Ended in a hospital on Christmas Eve where after coming back home and given a bag of steroids and immuno suppressants, decided to fix myself only with the diet. I refused to take any medication( not even a pain killers). I went on SCD/Gaps (food, spore based probiotics, omega 3, detox) diet which helped me to cure within couple of months. Ive been symptoms free since. I do however believe that Carnivore diet will fix it within a month. I am stirict with what i eat and never have any cheat days. Exercise is also part of my life at the fullest. The cure is mainly in food. 😊

About a month ago I did carnivore for 7 days and was astonished at how well I felt and bowels were also good. Went back to IF and on again off again Low carb and bowels are worse than ever. Tried eating Tablespoon of ground flax seed everyday for a week or so. Just about died. I should have gone to hosp. Kept saying to myself " after this cramp!"

I'm not a doctor..but carnivore diet has been our general diet for centuries. Only recently since the 1900s have the colon cancers/diseases increased so rapidly etc.
Processed foods and MAN-ufactured meals are the root cause/effect of most of today's chronic auto immune issues. Crap In Crap Out.
It is NOT caloric problem...it is a CARB/OIL crisis and addiction since birth we all are chained into.
S.O.S. Seed Oils and Sugar... is the disease duo to avoid.....just my 2 cents.
Please consider Sunshine/Steak/Seafood/Salt/Sleep.....in any order 🥩🥚🌞

I have been a Crohn’s sufferer for over 70 years. Being of a more scientific mind, I have also observed how differently my body reacts to the same foods in different countries. I agree with your carnivore approach but would add reaction to food additives such as Round-Up, weed killers, infective and antibiotics which are found in excess in the U.S. I have found that these additives are concentrated by animals in their liver, body fat and butter fat.
I currently am doing well on a diet with organic grass fed bison and Irish butter along with wild fish and seafood.
50 or more years ago I was ineffectively prescribed antibiotics whereupon I replaced my biome by eating oysters (including their digestive system). I also highly recommend sublingual methylcobalimin (B12) as this cannot be absorbed by the intestine in most crohn’s patients.

My doctor told me at one point they have had to put extra warning labels and side effects on some drugs because of my reactions. After having so many problems with drugs and over use of steroids to treat my crohns i decided to try to take control and really find out which foods effect me the most and eliminate them from my diet. Not everyone is the same when it comes to what foods effect us so it was defiantly trial and error for me. i have always noticed i always crave meat when others are going for a snack even if i've already eaten. Very interested in giving this carnivore diet a try but the one concern i have is anytime i currently eat red meat it seems to run right though me i eat more chicken than anything but i've noticed they say to avoid anything with lots of tendons any suggestions i love bacon and sausage and that doesnt seem to give me any problems. would love a video with some food suggestions for people starting on the carnivore diet.

You commented that staying Carnivore is fine, but make sure that it is NUTRITIONALLY COMPREHENSIVE. Please share a video on what that should look like. TY

as an ulcerative colitis patient with moderate success in securing remission (following many of the broad strokes recommended by dr. cywes), i'd like to humbly recommend advocacy for various forms of exercise. i can't explain the ins and outs/biological mechanisms, but exercise (done right!) assists in proper regulation of our immune responses.

Yeah, fat and meat help me so well. I generally have inflammation in the intestines. Animal-based diet helps me a lot. Dairy is perfect also. But raw dairy products. No pasteurisation, only raw dairy products. Grass finished would be best

5:25 my GI specialist and colorectal surgeon told me bad advice for crohns diet. They told me refined white bread, pasta, white rice, meat and potatoes. When I did my own research I found out Maltodextrin, artificial sweeteners, flavors, colors, preservatives, emulsifiers, pesticides and other non food ingredients that we eat is the problem along with food fried in oil, processed foods, any packaged foods and sugar too.
As long as I eat real food all homemade, I’m good.

Dr Cywes, I see you came up through the University of Michigan. I grew up in this area.
I know someone with Crohn's and something called Autoimmune autonomic ganglionopathy (AAG) a rare disease. This individual is being "fed" through TPN. The situation is urgent.
Do you know anyone at U of M, or in this area at all who could assist a complex situation like this? I Know this request is a moon shot but the situation calls for it. Thanks! I'll try reaching out directly.

Carnivore helps, I can't tolerate rendered fats, I couldn't tolerate eggs, but I found eggs that I could eat, and those help, so it depends on what the chickens eart. Bone broth helps. I had pig 1 months ago because I was feeling better, it put me into a flare that I'm struggeling to control now. Just finding what to eat is a real struggle. Carnivore is the answer.. shrimps and eggs is my solution. Beef meat is a bit too tough at the moment to digest and the fat causes issues. Dairy/butter is a no go.

Hi Robert, so far I’m the outlier. Crohns patient for 16 years now. I’ve tried every pharmaceutical (except for the newest option available.) I’ve attempted the carnivore diet and there are immediate benefits. Before starting the carnivore diet I had tremendous trouble with meat products. I ate them, nonetheless. Once I started eating them exclusively I did notice fewer BM’s which was a huge bonus. However, my FCP did not improve over the time that I was carnivore and the loose BMs from fat never let up. I also had more cramping while on the diet. Upon coming off the diet, I felt less cramping, though I did take a ‘white food’ approach. The white food actually helped clear up my chronically bad loose stools. At which point I slowly re-began a food introduction and got myself to where I am today. I’m still not better though I’m not cramping and I don’t have chronically loose stools. The strangest thing now is that when I eat red meat/pork/eggs then I am bloating/hurting. Even stranger, a lot of ice creams are tolerable. I’m about to have FCP retested soon.
The worst part of this disease is that I just don’t know how/what to throw myself at. It’s the biggest puzzle ever.

Thank you for your video on Crohns as the center for digestive diseases is just down the road from me! I just got my blood test results from Dr. Paul Mason who promotes the Carnivore Diet n though I will see him on Thursday for confirmation, I am happy to try both the Lion diet n other options... the strange thing is, I do not have symptoms. Yes i do get ibs on n off but the keto n carnivore diet puts that in remission... maybe it was crohns n not ibs?

Hello Dr. Cywes, first of all thank you for your awesome content, I got in here thanks to my mother. I’ve been diagnosed with crohn disease, I’m been asymptomatic since I was diagnosed and my I’ll focused in the ileum with sore/ulcer specifically to that part of the intestine. I generally keep a healthy diet but not sole carnivore. Maybe it’s time for me to try this diet, it’s like sort of keto isn’t it? I’ve been trying to find more info related to Dr. Thomas discover without luck, wonder please if you can suggest me where to lookout more into it, many thanks 🙏

Hello Dr Cywes, Thank you for this video. My name is Genevieve, I am a Carnivore Coach and Keto since 10 years in Mtl, Canada. My little girl, (daughter of my son) 15 months, very sick with Crohns disease, since 2 weeks... Ste-Justine Hospital, is sure at 80 % that it is Crohns. Do you think eating 100% carnivore at 15 months would be good for her ? Would you recommend something else. Thank you so much for everything you do.

Excellent video, I’m so glad you shed light on those classic “white” and “high fibre” diets that are just so wrong for people suffering with IBD. There is a lot of misinformation out there for people suffering with Crohn’s or Colitis and I think this is probably one of the best and most accurate videos I’ve seen on the internet. I’ve been diagnosed with crohn’s for around 7 years, multiple changes of medications and currently on a tapering course of prednisone. I’m sick of having no concrete answers and am currently trying to heal myself through diet

Check out Dr Ken Berry, Kelly Hogan, and Linda Spath. All are in You Tube and are a really good follow.
I have had Crohn’s for 20+ years, and my daughter decided to “hop onto this carnivore train.” So I decided to hop on w/her. But I’ve had a rocky start as I keep getting nauseous after eating a lot of fat. So I’m thinking my gallbladder may be the culprit. Anyway, after a week of commitment, I decided to go much slower so my digestive track can adjust to the increased fat intake. I’m hoping that I will have better results, as I LONGGGG for my gut to be healed. 😢
I’ve been my own researcher, & doctor every since I was diagnosed, and have never taken any meds....and never will. I’d rather die than let Big Pharma poison me.
So....hang in there & keep up your research. May God heal you!
