You are a born instructor. Not sure what you did in your work life but what a shame if you were not a teacher. Thank you Carol...this was so very nice for newbies and me as well....an oldie!
Awwwww Thanks Emily :) I was training to be a graphic designer at one point in the early days. then became an embroidery designer and teacher and then moved onto papercrafts so have been teaching evening classes and workshops for quite a while :) xx
I know this is an older video, but I hope you run across my comment. Thank you. I have learned so much from watching this one video! You are not only knowledgeable about your craft, but also know how to show and talk about techniques in a way that makes the light bulb keep going on over my head. Thank you again.
You just helped me with making a journal for my grandbaby. I want the journal for writing but it seemed so boring. Adding all these cool ideas for the page edges has done the trick! Thank you!
Nice video Carol! A common problem I've often had with my junk journals is that I get way too uptight about the edges and shapes. This really inspired me to be more relaxed and organic with my crafting. Thanks!!
Carol....this is such an awesome thing to do for us beginners!! It gets the creative juices flowing and is not overwhelming for a great start to a journal!!!
Thank you :) and thats the point of the videos is to store these kinds of ideas in a journal - Im always forgetting something that Im sure I will remember at the time lol :) :) xx
@@carol.tinson-paper.crafts yes, I need a journal for that! I've written these down for the time being. I remember better if I write stuff down rather than just watch.
I love your style of teaching, I also appreciate that you are such a tidy crafter and keep your desk so organized and you don't have to scratch around like a chicken looking for stuff, lol. Thank you for inspiring us.
Carol I am so happy I found your channel. You do such beautiful work and I enjoy you so much. You make me smile when I hear your funny comments. Thank you for sharing your talents, I appreciate you so much.
I like how precise you are in how you work with the paper and how you explain what you do and why. No slap dash here it is. It makes sense to protect the edges of fragile papers. Great ideas...and easy. I look forward to more!
Another great tutorial! Very easy to understand and follow! Lots more ideas to use up my scraps! And for some reason I always thought I had to punch out the actual page edges. But your method, of punching out a scrap piece and gluing it down to the page edge, makes so much more sense, adds stability AND IS EASIER!! YEA!! Thanks so much for sharing!!
Hi Carol I haven't watched you for a long time but I stumbled upon this video and I just love it. Thank you so much for all these great ideas. I've been thinking of putting them in an idea book because my memory has gotten very very bad. Blessings and love from New Mexico
You could use stamps along the edge of the page. I sometimes just stamp a small motif in one corner that’s in keeping with the style of the journal. I did a mermaid one recently and stamped fishes and lighthouses. Great video Carol, you’re fantastic!
Thank you so much for a great tutorial. I am not a fan of lace but you used your parer punches that is a yes for me!!! I can't say anything more about you, it has already been said.
This is absolutely brilliant carol. So helpful and I love the way you explain everything in great detail. Its just amazing in everyway. Thankyou so much for taking the time to show and tell us all in many different ways how to use these materials in our journals. Cant wait to see more. Xx you are a real joy to watch very inspiring and so talented.
This was EXTREMELY helpful to me! I've got some signatures in my first album held on with elastic hair bands. Was wondering what to do next. Definitely got me motivated to alter those "blank pages"
Oooh, this adding of interest is delightful 💕! Thank you for showing how to do the ruffles, as I’d seen the finished ones before, and wondered “how did they do that?”. Love this series you are doing? Thank you, Carol! You are a sweetie for sharing these tips!
Carol, just a few videos in and you're already giving me ideas and teaching me things I need right now!! ...like tonight!! Told you you were brilliant! 😁. I'd love to stay and chat but I must go finish some edges. ♥️♥️ From the Southern California desert. MK♥️🌵
You are just full of surprises! I was just thinking that on the threaded ribbon edge I might put down an extra strip of paper to strengthen the edge before I punched. Tricky one, that, as one would have to get it right on the first go.😬
I love this series. Sometimes it's great to get back to the basics. I have never done a paper ruffle successfully and now I know the secret. The paper back strip. Going to make a few now.
Thanks Carol. This was very timely as I am building a journal using some eco dyed pages (not hot dyeing, cold printing like Jibid Neary does) but some of the paper has gone very soft and fragile. So your video gave me some ideas and although I haven't done exactly what you've done, you got me thinking creatively. Thank you. :)
@@carol.tinson-paper.crafts Whoops, I forgot the photos before I took the journal to the Gallery. I will have to remember to do so when I go into the Gallery. :) xx

Carol, lovely page ideas, some I have been using for a long time, I love the ribbon one, and am currently making a baby journal and your idea will be perfect for that. I recently completed three “Logger” journals, one of which is about your country’s sisters, the “Lumberjills”. I had a ball making these. I actually used zippers that I separated and use on many of the pages, as well as some lace for the ladies version. The zippers worked out great, I used the sports version but also reinforced the edge to accommodate the slight weight of the zipper. Thinly you for sharing your great ideas. Barb the Pacific NW (logging country).
Oohhhh! Zippers! Mind if I steal the idea? I'm putting together an industrial style just-for-fun tall but narrow journal and that sounds like a perfect page edge. Seein' as I can't use lace. 🙃 Thanks for the great idea. MK from the Southern California desert. 🏜️
