    Has anyone here ever called mfj technical support? This is real polite guy named Stan he works there and he's the most helpful dude you've ever spoken to before. I suggest everyone on here gets on the phone and calls mfj technical support and ask to speak to Stan. He's just great.

    You should tell about the extra cable you need for this mfj product to get on the air

    Chad, this is a good video. Can you let us know which cables are needed to make the connections shown in the video? That would help immensely.

    Plz beware, if u purchase this unit u will need and AT keyboard (5 Pin Din) or purchase an adaptor cable. I ordered a new PS2 Keyboard and a PS2 to 5 Pin DIN (AT) adaptor. (Adaptor needs to be Male on 5 PIN DIN side, and the PS2 Side of the Adaptor Female), Adaptor on amazon 4$ and keyboard was about 15$, you will also need and audio cable, the type of cable will depend upon your rig for audio to the 464, receive, then another cable from the 464 Keyer out to the rig. When I finally get all my cables etc, I may put a video together showing all connections, still waiting on 1 cable

    Nice demo, but in a world of amazing keyer/readers, how do you convince a camera to blur?

    i cannot read my received clearly. can u help me how to adjust the tone and the volume? what is the proper settings on this please.? i can transmit very will but the reader mfj 464 cannot read very will. please help.

      There are two trim pot adjustments on the front one is for tone and the other is signal level. With a small flat blade screwdriver, set them both to the center rotational position. With a good morse code signal rotate the tone trim pot slowly until the tone is picked up and the red led flashes the brightest. Once the tone is matched, them you can set the level. If the led flashes too much, turn the signal level down.

    Hi there friend of mine has one of these, when the morse comes it fast it reads it as a load of E E E's, is there anyway to set the incoming morse speed...not the sending speed...g4vvq.

    • @cebutler100
      @cebutler100  7 лет назад

      yes, the two small holes in the front of the unit allow you to set the input level and tone of the incoming signal using a small screwdriver. If the unit is displaying EEEEE, try adjusting the level and tone.

    Chad I was wondering where you found an "AT" keyboard as i called for in the specs?

    • @cebutler100
      @cebutler100  9 лет назад

      BillTrainingTech MFJ sells the MFJ-551. I find them at thrift shops for a couple of bucks, got a few extra if you want me to send you one.

      Chad Butler Thank you for your response. After I wrote the comment I did see that they were available from MJF. It is a kind offer but no thank you I don't need one just yet, I am a newbie in fact I go to take my technician's test tomorrow.

      Great! I actually used this 464 when i first got my technicians license. It got me excited about HF because it allowed me to make contacts on CW on 40 and 80 meters before i ever started trying to learn morse code. Have fun!

      Helped a friend of mine with this problem. Get an AT to PS/2 adapter. That'll cost you a couple of dollars online. Then all you need is a PS/2 keyboard, which many people will probably give you. If not, you can get one for about .99 to 1.99 at a thrift shop.

      Thanks. Chad. Was looking at software called MRP40 to interpret Morse via laptop . But I like the idea of a stand alone device and keyboard.
