I think people don't truly understand the complexity of making a video game. It's a long process. We will just have to try to be patient. Hard when you have Sims 4 and know it's a shit show!
I think part of the issue is hoe uncommon it is to see a game so early in development. plus, people are used to games by large studios-- I agree many don't realize the complexity
People complain of a team of 5-6 people not doing things quick enough, and then we have Star Citizen with millions of dollars in backing and hundreds of employees + studio which kickstarted back in 2012... Patience is key, he needed to show the stuff early to fund the project, but that doesn't mean it's close to completion. A sim game is freaking hard to make, I'm actually impressed with the amount of progress they've shown so far.
I'd rather wait ten years and pay full price at once (or even a couple of dlc, I think they mentioned that at some point) than what the sims is doing, mistake , after mistake, after mistake charging for them
A game takes a while to build and they are a very small team. They just finished most of the build mode, their avatars, and the foundations for their CAS-like system. Now animations and the gameplay to go with it are currently in process. I think they are making great progress. Some folks can be really impatient or like to troll.
Tbh they have made A LOT of progress in a very small time, when I heard about it back when we only had the two first teasers, I for sure was expecting it to take a lot longer that it has been taking (and that's coming from someone who stopped following the development of Yansim late last year).
Why Paralives isn't out yet in the title kinda made me raise an eyebrow. It'll be 2/3 years at best, probably longer. They're still working on the basic ideas for live mode let alone gameplay.
I'm a builder, that's pretty much all I ever do when I play TS4, and I'd really love to have spiral stairs in Paralives. I'd also like it if it'd be easier to make open spaces between e.g. the first and second floor. Doing so in the Sims is usually difficult and a hassle. Nothing in particular other than that. They've already proven time and time again that this game will be a paradise for builders and I honestly can't wait to play it
Yeah I was thinking about stairs too. I hope there'll be spiral stairs. Oh but I wonder how to make the animation look good. I hope they can show us stairs soon with a walking up or walking down animation along with the reveal of it.. I'm not to good at programming but that's where the pathfinding comes in as well perhaps. So it's further down the line.. sorry I'm rambling I just have so many thoughts and worries about it
i think some people are being harsh on the developers, big game companies don't announce a game this early like you said. they don't have as big of a team either. plus the development of this game shouldn't be compared to sims regardless, as the sims team just rushes things and pumps out content constantly because ea wants money. i don't care if i have to wait a bit longer for this game to come out, it's better than having a rushed and mediocre game. however, i think they announced the game too early because the hype might die down. but it also allows the dev to gather support through donations and people grouping with him to work on the game. either way i'm excited for this game. even if the gameplay is bad, it can be played as a building sim lol
If Alex hadn't announced it, he would still be working on it by himself. The game might be further in development, but the end result wouldn't be/look as good as it does now. And if a part of the support falls off, that's okay, as long as there is a big enough group that are willing to financially support the game, and I'm not worried there.
Exactly. I think mostly it's they don't have a perspective on just how difficult it is to make, and how long it takes. Really a life simulator is very complex too
I tried building a marine themed stripclub in sims and I wanted to make a wave shaped platform (it didn't go well). I hope it will be possible in paralives. This opens so many possibilities
I'm amazed because they're really making all their assets from scratch, of course the game is going to take a loooong time to come out. They're a small team making a huuuuge task. And we've seen in the Sims that some bugs can come out of thing the devs didn't even think players would put together in the first place, or a tiny bug fix somewhere creates a cascade of big ones elsewhere. I just wish them all the best, and hope it's the best game it can be.
Curved walls is a big deal to builders, I know to some people it doesn't look like a lot but it is. In S4 we can have rounded patios and curved walkways with what Paralives is offering we can build actual round rooms and hopefully round pools, it opens the door to our creativity. Thank you for keeping us updated Erin, you're doing an excellent job!
This is amazing. I love building in the Sims, but it's too limited... The fact that we can build walls with any angle is awesome! CURVED WALLS😍 I will create all of architectural projects on this game. Thank you for this video Erin!
I think the biggest difference between Paralives and The Sims is that Paralives is an entirely new game and therefor isn't stuck with the same kind of mechanics that The Sims has been carrying over for more than a decade. I mean, I want to see both games do well, but with Paralives everything seems like it's a new approach to things. The Sims desperately needs that fresh start. Then again, we still haven't seen actual gameplay footage and how the Parafolk interact with all those stretched and morphed items.
I don't get why there aren't curved walls in the Sims 4 or at least curved walls in pools like in the Sims 3. Build mode is very important in Sims 4 and it needs updates.
I'm not concerned about how long it's taking but I really hope they focus more on the characters and giving them personality, we already have a good building simulator with the sims 4
They're not prioritising the build mode over the gameplay, they just got started on the build mode a lot earlier than the gameplay. I don't think we have to worry about them focusing on one thing over the other. All the effort and care they're putting in the build mode makes it likely that they'll do the same for the gameplay
I'm a mediocre builder in The Sims, lol. I could be way better but I like having the walls up and having enough space for the camera but I love this and the possibilities it brings. And your duck house wasn't bad.
The game looks really amazing but l just don’t think they should of let’s us no until a year before it’s all done because people just might get bored waiting for this game to come out
First of all I hope you have a great day too! I‘m wondering how their rooting will work if the game doesn’t use a grid system. But I really like their honesty, I wish the sims team would do that more often too.
Hi Erin! I hope you're having a great day. I had an interview today and I think it went well. I'm waiting for the result in a couple of weeks. The build mode has always been great to me, so I'm just patiently waiting for more Parafolks and Gameplay reveal and showcase.

I definitely stuck it out to the end lol. And yep, I really like the build mode in Paralives so far. Hi Erin 😊 I like stairs for building in all directions. Paralives look like a great building game. Love that they are communicating with the comunity. I feel extremely frustrated and limited with Sims 4 build mode. Hope you have a wonderful day 😊
I am still so excited for paralives 😊 their build features have been the main source of my excitement from day one of Alex sharing his ideas ❤️ and then when they shared maggie's loft house.. I just could not wait anymore. Lol I need this game in my life 😂 and with project meaning so much Alex (and the rest of the team I'm sure) I'm so positive that the game play will be done very well. I feel like the game play will even be more sentimental than just an empty grind feeling, if you know what I mean. This is like their baby and I think they are pouring themselves into it. I have played other indie games (they weren't simulations) but they were so sweet and they made you feel at home to me in the game and I think that's the type of game play this is going to offer. I'm not trying to over expect but I definitely see potential 🥰 anyways thanks Erin for the video! I love your videos!
I do love that aspect. Idk, I think they are different games and see them as such. Both can exist. In fact, one issue we have right now is the lack of other games
It takes a longggg time to build anything worth while. Especially a small team that they have as well. Do you want a broken game that needs patches or a good solid game?
Erin, would you ask them if they have done a list of possible gameplay objects ( objects that have game activities and animations attached - computers, blender, pianos, tvs, etc. ) for base game release? Home objects would be kitchen, bathroom entertainment items like tv and stereo. Vendors store like in Sims 2 and 3 go in to chose and buy. Schools
@@SimmerErin Hey ... Oh am not asking them for a list, though. Just asking if they have just to get an idea as to whether they have gotten that far in development. Ty and stay safe :)
I remmember when i sent a message to Alex Massé ( creator of Paralives ) . He's realy nice . The whole team's so open and they trying their best to let us know about every changes coming to the game development :) PS : 🤩🤩 GOOD VIDEO AS ALWAYS SIS
I'm on console so I won't be able to play Paralives, at least upon launch. I'm glad you're covering this though because I love the Sims and having some competition should in theory make our simming experience better
If you want this out sooner, please support this on patreon, as that is their means of support, and team members are added when it is affordable. I was the 43rd person to support on patreon and have been happy with the progress. As Erin said, it was just a single developer, and is now a growing team, that asks us supporters opinions on things quite often, and actually listen.
I wish the Sims team were able to put out stuff like this for all of their processes. I can't wait to build in the game. It looks really fun and there is a bit more freedom it seems.
Personally I’m gathering that’s they are probably doing coding realted stuff for the parafolk now so when build mode is done they can give us some gameplay shots, with them interacting with the game-world, makes the previews more immersive. As much as I’m disappointed about gardening not being in the game from the start(later realize, I’m glad they are being honest about it.
They're still working on both build mode and PAM (and the first basic animations), gameplay is still quite some time off, I'm afraid. But then again, I rather they take their time to make sure the basics are really solid.
@@IIAmorFatiII I also want them take their time, because if they do this game could turn out amazing. I was just saying why I though we have see much parafolk stuff yet
I really appreciate their candor. I think I care most personally about them getting the mechanics down first. I think we will see some PAM features in a bit
I'm pretty excited to see how well the curved walls look. Makes me wonder how they're going to make furniture that can snap to a curved wall? Like, would we be able to make curved counters as well?
Yeah I once brainstormed -- what if they released a build mini game ahead of time? Could get people's interest up and generate a little revenue too for them, but idk
You ought to consult with architecture technicians or contractors to see how walls meet in real life. It's a cool looking game, but little details like this would add so much.
I’m honestly super grateful for them.. 🥺 ever since the sims 4 came out, playing the sims just lost its nostalgia for me. I’ve tried for years to pick it back up but it’s just hard. I’ll play it for a couple weeks and drop it for months so I just don’t build my connections with my sims anymore. 😢 the gameplay just isn’t it anymore. Not like it used to be. From what they’ve been posting in their patreon just gets me PUMPED. I just know this game is good. And I love how transparent they are. I HATE being in the dark for weeks/months just for packs/patches to get push back and we don’t even know why.
I totally know what they are going through and am waiting patiently. I once started the process in creating a game and basically tossed it all in the trash. NO THANKS!! I don't have it in me to even do a game with the tools and some of the people already created for me. They are doing all this by scratch! Yea I can wait.
I'm still waiting for the moment when I see something from Paralives that does not look amazing has yet to happen its a builders paradise now they just need to do the same with live mode hopefully we get to see some of that later this year.
I'm sure the game will be fantastic. Games take time we should all understand. I became an adult waiting for the next installment of Kingdom Hearts so.....I think I can wait 1-3yrs for this lol.
Ha! Yeah they really do.I think some don't realize that and hence why they say it's "suspicious". In reality, it'd be astonishing to get a game like this ready in 1 or 2 years
I know there isn’t a release date but would it be to soon to think that it will be released by the end of this year? I know nothing about programming so I don’t know how long it’s gonna take
It would be to soon to think end of this year. The core stuff of the game isn’t ready yet and takes lots of months to do. I’d say it’ll be release maybe end of 2022 or in 2023 due to having a bigger team than at the start
I hate to disappoint, but yeah it's too soon. They are still working on build and the parameter (character creator) and haven't started on gameplay mechanics-- which will likely take the longest
Personally I'm not that good of a builder either XD only one or two years ago I started building more and I've been enjoying it but I'm still not very good at it. Curved walls will probably be something I won't use at least in the beginning. Probably after seeing what other people do with them I'll get ideas to use them but in the beginning I'll be sticking with my grid XD just thinking of roofing that fish house or triangle house... I feel the headache coming XD
Would be pretty nice though if the models of the people currently were not the final models. As it stands, imo, they're not very pretty to look like, kind of butterface with mild rosacea. I want to play this game when it comes out, and I know one cannot compare this to Sims 4 (duh), buuuut all the same it would be nice if the characters were at least pretty to look at. (sorry if y'all love these character models, but that would be the one thing that keeps me from playing, I need a character look that can be related to, and that is human. The characters as is kind of remind me of uncanny valley type of stuff. Sorry if this is an unpopular opinion, but input is always needed. Besides, what I've seen in this video so far is very interesting.
Sorry you feel so. I don't know, only that they are currently working with the Paramaker, so it's entirely possible that these are not the final graphics. I do know it will be cc compatible
@@SimmerErin sometimes when a game dev or development team are passionate about a project and/or have a bunch of good ideas, they can get carried away and already start on the big things instead of focusing on the little things that need to be implemented first. Not always the dev's or team's fault its just that they let their excitement and passion get the better of them. All mades worst when there's alot of hype around the project and so there's alot of pressure to get it done which can lead to stress and the heart not in the project anymore. Like i said, i've seen too many examples of this and the fact that there is so many demands of features to be added already and they are still in the early stage of development (though there is proof of improvement and progress). Not to mention people are only looking at the game as a sims 4 alternative or complete replacement. I mean, i trust the paralives team are smart about and are focusing on the major things that need to get done first before getting into the meat of it. It's just my jadedness talking and its having me worried. Here's the list of games that pop into my head while thinking about it (you may or may not be familiar with these titles): Watashi no Mono Love Letter Sinister Turmoil

This game is very early in development. It's unreasonable to ask for a release anytime soon. My guess is around 2024.
Yep. Idk abut the year, but I'd be surprised if it was much sooner than 2023 or 2024
I'd rather wait ten years and pay full price at once (or even a couple of dlc, I think they mentioned that at some point) than what the sims is doing, mistake , after mistake, after mistake charging for them

I'm on console so I won't be able to play Paralives, at least upon launch. I'm glad you're covering this though because I love the Sims and having some competition should in theory make our simming experience better
Yeah, that's the hope.
It may be a long while till this comes out, so maybe you'll have a computer by then? Could see it being a number of years tbh
Thanks for the important message, Leo . I agree.
The Triangle House at 1:50 reminds me of those math problems that want you to find out the square footage. They always had ridiculous shapes
Oh dear hah. I was never good at those!
All I got to say is i hope sims team is paying attention to what they could do with this paralives news 🙃😁
Idk, I just wish both games well. I see them as separate games
I wish the Sims team were able to put out stuff like this for all of their processes. I can't wait to build in the game. It looks really fun and there is a bit more freedom it seems.
Me too.
Yes! I think at very least it'll be a lot of fun with the color wheel, curved walls and the ability to stretch and expand
Can't wait to try the game
I'm definitely interested to see how it turns out
Me 2 and I am waiting for news directly from EA offices before I believe sims 5 is coming out
That is what makes it exciting
The game is not even finished, BUT IM LIKE I wanna play around with the build mode so badly! Their lighting and tools shown so far are so cool!
They really do! It's amazing also how it's changed since the very first clip they showed
@@SimmerErin For sure! Their progess is so interesting to view :)
I'm pretty excited to see how well the curved walls look. Makes me wonder how they're going to make furniture that can snap to a curved wall? Like, would we be able to make curved counters as well?
A very good question! Not sure yet
I wish we could play with whatever version of the game exists now Lmao even if it’s just building and cas
Yeah I once brainstormed -- what if they released a build mini game ahead of time? Could get people's interest up and generate a little revenue too for them, but idk
I wonder if those floor plans will be available in the game.
Good question! I hope so
You ought to consult with architecture technicians or contractors to see how walls meet in real life. It's a cool looking game, but little details like this would add so much.
Thats' a great point, Melissa. Only problem is idk how tight they budget is or what that would cost
amazing video erin
thanks
@@SimmerErin yqw erin
im so excited!
I am tentatively! Have another video on this game tomorrow, some interesting ideas
Simply wow!
Yes!! And I have more features I'll be discussing tomorrow :)
Yeah, that's the freedom that comes with owning your own studio
It looks good so far. The curved walls are exciting. I've wanted curved walls in the sims forever.
Yes! I think it'll be very fun to build in
I’m excited for the para creation 🎊
Very interesting to watch it develop
Can we hurry up and realease this game so we can play it, update it and add patches as it goes ugh....
As I said in this video, a game takes a long time to make. It isn't good, in my opinion for it to be rushed
According to EA, Build Mode and CAS are gameplay 💁
LOL yeah I hate that
I totally know what they are going through and am waiting patiently. I once started the process in creating a game and basically tossed it all in the trash. NO THANKS!! I don't have it in me to even do a game with the tools and some of the people already created for me. They are doing all this by scratch! Yea I can wait.
Well said!
I'm still waiting for the moment when I see something from Paralives that does not look amazing has yet to happen its a builders paradise now they just need to do the same with live mode hopefully we get to see some of that later this year.
Yeah and honestly that will be more challenging. But I always say that, at worst, bb will be fun
In reality, it'd be astonishing to get a game like this ready in 1 or 2 years
I’m glad we’re getting curved walls
Yep! Definitely check out the latest video of theirs if you have not- revealed some great bb features and shows them all together in a speed build
Your Duck was very cute :)
Lol thank you
this game is so beautiful, I like everything about it =)
Haven't they done a fantastic job so far! I'm uploading a video tomorrow again and I just love covering this game
first! and great vid
Thank you
Doesn't it usually take a long time to make a game? I'm honestly not expecting it be out any time soon. Not this year, probably not next either.
It sure does, yes
I know there isn’t a release date but would it be to soon to think that it will be released by the end of this year? I know nothing about programming so I don’t know how long it’s gonna take
It would be to soon to think end of this year. The core stuff of the game isn’t ready yet and takes lots of months to do. I’d say it’ll be release maybe end of 2022 or in 2023 due to having a bigger team than at the start
I hate to disappoint, but yeah it's too soon. They are still working on build and the parameter (character creator) and haven't started on gameplay mechanics-- which will likely take the longest
long week - algorithm and love - paralives , sims 4, video game, Mr. Beast, build, building, essential, must have,
Aw! I hope you have a restful weekend
I like it ha but yeah Idk I will ever be very good. I wouldn't either but like you am interested to see what others do
Would be pretty nice though if the models of the people currently were not the final models.
I love building in the sims so I am interested in the build mod. I am getting a gaming laptop so I can play this 😁 hope you have a good day
Actually they said it'll run decently even on lower end laptops~ !
@@SimmerErin 🤩 that would be fantastic!!!!!!
I just hope they're not putting all their eggs in one basket. I've seen too many examples of that sadly
Hm how so
@@SimmerErin sometimes when a game dev or development team are passionate about a project and/or have a bunch of good ideas, they can get carried away and already start on the big things instead of focusing on the little things that need to be implemented first. Here's the list of games that pop into my head while thinking about it (you may or may not be familiar with these titles):
Watashi no Mono
Love Letter
Sinister Turmoil
Are you guy's rushing the developers? .. Didnt you learn from Cyberpunk 😫
Luckily I don't think a lot of people are, just some. but I did want to address it...I think some may not realize how long it can really take to make a game, even for a bigger studio let alone a small team
“Why isn’t paralives out yet?”
Maybe because this game is a smaller group then EA, and is trying to achieve more then the sims? 👁👄👁
Exactly. I think people are applying the same expectations for Paralives as you do for bigger studios
@@SimmerErin Im so glad you understand! Also, your amazing :)
I want a bodybuilder
? not sure what you mean? They will have a character creator, if that's what you mean
