Since I am from the area I would like to point out couple of things. Valparai is pronounced completely with “i” in the end. “Para” has different meaning than “paarai”. Also Annamalai pronounced anna-malai is another name for Lord Shiva. But the hills you mentioned is Aanai-malai which means elephant-hills.
