@@SatsumaAMP Lorenzo bandini (who is being portrayed in this video) literally died on that chicane. It’s the reason straw bales are no longer present in racetracks in f1.
A fantastic technical achievement! The giveaway was that the car just looked too good for film of the period! This is exciting - to be able to recreate experiences from the past with great fidelity where before there was only poor footage or none at all.
I think 1:06 is the part of the chicane where Bandini's car slammed into the hay bales and was engulfed in fire. He later died from his burns and fractures 3 days later. RIP.
He had his fatal crash in 67 and he didn't crash into the water. He hit the hay bales which caught fire and flipped his car. He was stuck in the fire for ages and died 3 days later in the hospital with 3rd degree burns covering 70% of his body.
Ironically, the scene in Grand Prix where an accident happens on the Harbor Chicane was actually suggested by Bandini himself. He thought it would be a cool scene to put in the film. The following year, Bandini would crash in that very chicane.
It may be CG... but it captures a time in F1 when the cars were beautiful, the drivers had incredible skills and the tracks were romantic. Sadly those days are long gone.
Well, I would say that F1 today is more boring than ever simply because Max wins, and passing is not exciting with DRS, they just overtake on the straight. But the cars are still a technical marvel, and the tracks do have to be made safe. Like, it would be unreasonable to complain about a racetrack being made more safe, or the car having a Halo added, because if we had even one of those, Senna would still be around, along with many other of the greatest and biggest F1 names. I think for me the fact that F1 lost a driver nearly every race through the 50's-70's says enough about this period. If we could have the same close racing in the light and blisteringly fast cars, around safe racetracks with the runoff room and barriers needed, as well as modern safety we have today, F1 would be at a new peak. The drivers themselves still have the same blood and balls as they did in the old ages.
back when overtaking in monaco was possible
2022 Monaco grand prix: Allow me to introduce myself.
@@AlwaysChasingStorms and what happened that day no one was overtaken or overtaking
@@Axel22250 Ayo! What did Gasly do then?
@@AlwaysChasingStorms TF that little thing means nothing Monaco is a useless track u cant pass without getting some type of damage
@@Axel22250 I don't recall Gasly getting damage when he made those epic moves.
Yep, me and my homies love racing the 60's cars in the older track versions, definately very epic

whatever graphics mod this is is great. It really nails realistic colours that most racing games oversaturate and it looks so much more realistic.
The elevation at tabac was insane! 🤯

Lorenzo Bandini crashed into the water right after the chicane in 1966. He died a few hours later.

alberto ascari had his crasg into the water, but that was 1955
paul hawkins also went over into the water, but him and alberto survived those crashes
he literally got burnt to a crisp in the car on fire because marshals thought he got flung out the car when it flipped
I haven't a clue why this comment was made...
took the chicane a little better than Bandini did...
The mistake that would end his career and life...
Lorenzo Bandini will be missed.

Back when Formula 1 cars would explode when they crashed. I've seen crashes from those days and those cars were engulfed in an inferno of fire
Fuel tanks on wheels. Incredibly dangerous.
Great vid 👍I have tried to find the 60s Monaco track without the bricked road on the prom all morning, with no luck. Pls pls share a link 🙂

The idea being the needle is vertical when it reaches the redline and so can be seen without losing focus on the road ahead.
