Hmmm well the history of “masculine girls” in Japanese culture/anime is pretty interesting. If we’re talking anime in 1990 “rose of versailles” was a groundbreaking Shoujo that featured a “masculine woman/gender bent woman” and Shoujo fans LOVED it. It internationally was a hit and was/is super popular in Italy. In Japanese history, 1914 the Takarazuka Revue was created by a president of a the biggest railroad company to provide entertainment at the railroad stations. It was basically supposed to be everything Kabuki wasn’t: it was a female only had modern theatrical performances that featured western stories as well as Japanese ones. Takarazuka gained a HUGE following- especially among women. They’re still really big and actually played at Radio City Music Hall NYC fully sold out sorta recently. Anyways because Takarazuka was an all women theater troupe- there where women who specifically played men and they specially have HUGE followings. So girls chasing after masculine women in anime/Japanese culture actually has a long history. But why??? I think it’s definitely part Shoujo fantasy: a perfect beautiful “man” that also has “feminine softness”. I mean how far away really are any Bishoen boy in shoujos from being a gender bent woman? I think it’s also part liberation from strict gender roles. Women/girls in anime rarely ever get the chance to be seductive and cool without being a big titty fan service character in shounen. If you’re a women dressed as a man tho: the options open up, the possibilities for expressing power/sexuality changes- but things still stay “safe” because nothing real can actually happen between a woman and a woman in Japanese media. Sooooo yeah anime girls chasing after masculine gender bent girls not that far away from reality (despite these masc women characters being a complete fantasy) and eh it’s kinda funny too. Gender is weird. And Kashima is great. 💕
Darth JarJar i- what- i watch dub bc i cant focus on things while reading- but i adore sub just as much, and i have no problem with either, theres people that prefer certain ones tho, and there’s also people who hate dub. but i don’t personally care i was just letting them know it was dub.
I just gonna put it out there I dislike Hori hes just a male version of Sakura from Naruto I dislike It. kashima and Naruto deserve better I mean Naruto got a better girl but I feel sad for Kashima if she marries Hori its gonna be a Toxic relationship at least Naruto escape and found a better girl. But Kashima might be abused rest of her life. Im against abuse from both parties Boys and Girls that in a Toxic relationship and gets abused by thier significant other is sad to be honest they should leave once they have a chance
