But without the retrofit, she was closer to a battle cruiser by 1939 standards.

Also Lütjens was a smart man and didn’t want to fire because he knew that it would be dangerous to sink her (he was right). Plus, let’s be real, if Warspite was there instead of Wales, One of those two Germans would have been lost.

The british were struggling to maintain its agigng battleship fleet,and rarely built new capital ships,late war.The french fared worse so did the italians, they scrapped their battleships after the war,because money issues,and only started to build them in the 30s.

Yes, they said big things at big times, but the British used Canadian, Australian, New Zealanders, South African, and Indian colonial troops during WW2. So the contribution to WW2 by British troops was minimal. The Canadians were the main ‘British’ force in Europe due to some speaking French. The South Africans fought in Africa and then Italy. The Aussies fought in the Pacific and the Indians fought everywhere do the fact there was some many of them.
Germany (or EISENBLUT in this show) was ever a land power. One notable success by Bismarck and a tactical (if not strategic) victory at Jutland is nothing compared to the centuries of tradition and excellence shown by the Royal Navy!

Umm... yes it did. The last of the British colonial territories(Hong Kong) were handed over the Chinese in 1997. Yeah, the British weren’t even that good in WW2. Yes, they said big things at big times, but the British used Canadian, Australian, New Zealanders, South African, and Indian colonial troops during WW2. So the contribution to WW2 by British troops was minimal. The Canadians were the main ‘British’ force in Europe due to some speaking French. The South Africans fought in Africa and then Italy. The Aussies fought in the Pacific and the Indians fought everywhere do the fact there was some many of them.
