The context of that quote is interesting, because he actually says it to Data to get him over his moping after having lost to a master RTS player (no, for real), in a match where Data Played Perfectly and got spanked. And the irony is that Data actually had a strategy available to him which clearly and cleanly ensured he would never lose (he uses that strategy successfully in a rematch) which results in a win by default as his opponent inevitably tires out, so arguably not playing that strategy in the first match was actually a mistake - and a mistake which directly caused him to lose, at that. Oops.

I can't be the only one who loves the higher level iodis casts, I feel like I learn ALOT. E.g how to take fights against some of the more difficult zerg armies, why certain fights are bad and general ideas about targeting priority to allow a part of your army to work better. Thanks for this high level insight captain.
I guess you're a pretty good player, if you really learn something practical from those high level iiodis videos.
If I'd be able to make those level mistakes I'd be really proud of myself.

I just realized, rather belatedly since ive watched since ep 1 of iodis ... he casts and scales everything up and down. Everything. And it hit me how incredibly difficult it is to do this. And then his jokes scale up and down as well.

Historically their Military has been very successful, but recently the surrender in the Second World War and their refusal to join the Iraq War in 2003 have helped to tarnish their reputation. There was also a joke in the Simpsons where Groundskeeper Willie is teaching French and says the phrase "Bonjourrrrrr, ya cheese-eating surrender monkeys." France also failed to keep hold of its colony in Indochina before the USA became involved in the region during the Vietnam War.

Honestly Lambo's late game control in that mothership abduct fight was insane. To manage the fungal, corruptors, the viper, and the neurals while keeping the broods safe is mighty impressive.

Epic? Nothing happened till both players were maxed out, more than 10 minutes in the game. Kevin should have skipped more than just 2 minutes..
I really don't get why YT suggests this channel to me all the time, since all I do is watch on 2x and give a thumbs down. Since David Kim fked up LotV release, Starcraft in my opinion is no longer a strategy game.
@@nightmareTomek Well he gave valueable info about the players and summarized the matchup, which was in my opinion very valuable, while he left the game running in the background. And i think it was important that he at least tried to spot possible mistakes. And he did a very good analysis.
Maybe to you it doesnt appear as an RTS when both players are very good, but because all of the interactions are well figured out here, in a standard game, neither player wants to do risky cheees, so ofc they go for the long run. There are plenty games with early aggression. Every Move of these is a valid strategy, and i think Starcraft 2 is one of the best RTS to date!
+ Many things happened even when they were not maxed out! Little skirmishes, pokes and like snipes of the spire have way higher impact than you might think. But it just shows on whata high level they are, that each of them can keep up the multitasking while doing all these things to max out eventually and not rush out an attack.

Makes me wonder, how high can you crank that overboost? How practical would it be to get like 30 drones, turn them into spines or whatever, crank out 30 supply of roaches, cancel the spines.

No no, the idea is you keep the regular amount of drones. Say you have 60 drones, and a shitton of bank you can't use because you have 140 supply of army. Make those 60 drones start morphing into Spines, freeing up 60 supply. Quickly morph 60 more supply of Roaches or whatever. Cancel the Spines so you are back to 60 drones. Congrats, you now have 60 drones and 200 supply worth of Army.
My favourite IODIS so far. Fascinating seeing a breakdown of a pro player after many noobs. I loved his opening letter matrix references too. Very well done
I love the very detailed hands on the imbalance report, and then the stick arms to back them up.
This was amazing because it shows the razors edge that professional players play on at the very highest level of the hardest video game in the world. Drogo played damn well for an entire game, fight after fight. Yes there were the small mistakes (no obs, slow storm, no run zealot runby during big engages, and the non micro of the units properly to kill broods) but all in the all the one thing that lost him the game was taking ONE bad engagement, just ONE, and the game is over just like that. It's truly amazing how high the level of these players is. Awesome analysis.
i think what lost him the game was literally that one fight at natural where he didn't micro the carriers AT ALL (just why? how can you be not aware of what your highest dps unit is attacking?) and warped in the stalkers at home instead of at the fight. after that it shouldn't even be a game, but he almost came back.

Imo it just shows that zerg is imba, if protoss can't take a fight and has to instead camp from a distance the entire time.
Those weren’t small mistakes by any means. Lack of target fire on the immortals throughout the entire game and bo detection is HUGE. No detection its like facing a map hacker except worse cause lurkers/nueral would end the game.
No target fire? Your praying to rng gods before every fight. With 5 immortals the ultras shouldn’t of even touched his units but again no target fire

I prefer tasteless excellent commentary, with the phrases "powering up", "growing out on the map" and "basically a one-two punch" every other minute. Aswell as him just calling everyone terran, protoss and zerg to avoid mixing the 2 seperate names up... a lot to keep track on

Regarding French people raising the white flag too soon: That did in fact happen to Drogo back when he unexpectedly made it to BlizzCon even though he was ranked 10, when 2 people withdrew.

@Harstem Hamster messed up. 15:05, the after fight calculation says he lost 8 zealots. he only lost 5 of them, thus it was a favorable trade by 200 resources for the protoss.

I rarely see P win on trades with tempests vs viper infestor in the long game, you can never control air units perfectly and 1 yank = 1 dead carrier/mothership. Tempests are like a desperation unit to engage broods, for anything else its 2 unstimmed marines worth of dps and hoping the enemy will sit around getting shot long enough for a return on investment.

This is the video that actually convinced me that Zerg is imba against protoss. Zerg casters are insanely good, while storms barely tickle a lategame army. Poor protoss just can't engage in a fight.

@@zbibi4334 I mean, it's possible, but very hard. Corruptors need to fly in clumps or they can't properly target carriers (at least humans can't control them this way, an AI easily could). Storm has much more range than corruptors though, so until the high templar are dead, the corruptors can't go near the carriers or they WILL be stormed, no matter how good the micro.
I mean, the whole point though is that the Carriers didn't have to beat the Corruptors. They just needed to kill the Broodlords, then the Protoss ground army cleans up even if the Carriers die. That moment was a potential winning moment for PtitDrogo that he lost, as was the moment where he may have been able to reinforce with those 13 Stalkers but warped them in at home instead.
It does seem pretty unfair that in Brood War you had the dark archon, very expensive fat unit, with a one shot mind control spell loosing all it's shield ... and now in SC2 the ability is transferred to the zerg to a much cheaper, smaller, more useful unit with burrow. I understand the frustration.
