I was sorting through my hard drive the other day and realised I had this demo but had never played it before. That's until now. This is my first time playing the demo.
Sabre Rider and the Star Sheriffs was a kickstarter project but nothing has been heard on that since July 2018. I believe at one point that JoshProd and Pixel Heart were going to publish it but pulled out in 2019.
The demo shows the game looked promising but who knows what has happened. The Dreamcast unfortunately has a few games that seem to have had peoples money and then gone quiet. I have backed a fair few of these.
Support publishers like JoshProd/Pixel Heart, they have released over 20 games for the Dreamcast, and still have more to come, from various developers.

Its a shame this series never become popuular i loved watching this when i was little.
Still re-watching this every few years.

I was lucky enough to get an early alpha and beta test for this guy.
Being a huge fan i came across the ones starting up the project. From thought to actual game i was there along for the ride.
Kinda forgot avout this but seeing this brings back alot of memories 🎉🎉❤
It's a shame it never got finished. Another Kickstarter that let people down and another for the Dreamcast like Elysian Shadows.
If I remember correctly, there copyrights are quite complicated: Anime (jp) vs. Anime (us and world) and the sound also has been splitted. My guess is, when the game came to finalization and the rollout was prepared, these copyright issues were difficult to handle. Especially since some of copyright owners had been arguing, who has exactly 'which right' for 'which medium' and at 'which localization'.
If these struggles have not been cleaned up today, no one can give an agreement to use those materials for any game.
But that's just my guess and if I remebered an report and interview about 15 years ago.
If I remember correctly this was a kickstarter project from just a few years ago, but the guy took off with the money.
@@lonewolfprogrammer8932 it was a kickstart project and think that was for other systems too. Bit like the issues with Elysian Shadows which I backed
shame this got cancelled. Needs to come out !
There was also a Saber Rider game that should've come out for Nintendo 3DS in 2011 then it was postponed for 2012 and after some time cancelled...
it's a shame as this showed some promise. Maybe someone can pick it up and make something happen still.....

Remember when this game was meant to be in 3D, for the NDS, and on rail, and then it got scrapped?
Yeah... This was what it was going to be... and clearly, that didn't happen either.

This would have been an awesome game. A cult classic anime with Contra style shoot 'em up. It probably would have been really big in 1987 and a classic for the Genesis, or later on the Sega CD. As good as it looks for a 2D platform, I doubt if it did come out that it would have saved the Dreamcast. If they ever try to do this game today, or any Saber Rider game, I really hope they don't make it pay to play.
It showed a lot of early promise. It's a shame it all ended so badly. Hopefully someone does revisit the game with this sort of style, but I'm not holding out too much hope.

First idea. Make it more public. Second idea, this would be a great new secret project project for the next console platform over Kickstarter. There is so much possible with the newest graphic engines and it has a great touch of power rangers. I would buy it if it comes out. Only an idea
The game was kickstarter funded www.kickstarter.com/projects/saberridergame/saber-rider-and-the-star-sheriffs-the-video-game but apart from this demo nothing else happened and the developers have gone AWOL.

The only playable character this demo has, is the main character in the japanese version. Coincidence?

The problem was that you needed to be at least as American as Colt's accent to play, Pardner! So nobody was allowed to play.

Was that really for Dreamcast? From the looks I would place it more closely to MegaDrive 🤔
This was a Dreamcast demo. Visually it may be similar to the 16 bit era, as were games like Metal Slug, but defo a Dreamcast demo that will never be finished.
