- Unlike it's namesake at Kings Dominion, this standup coaster was built by Intamin (the one at Kings Dominion is a Togo coaster). Only three Intamin standups were ever built and only two remain in operation. Can you name the other one and where it's located?

the worst part of this ride is when it's starting and going up the little hill kinda thing because it takes forever and gives you a ton of time to freak tf out 😂😂

I went on this for the first time yesterday on my birthday :D i was randomly sort of worried about the restraint thing cuz i thought it was loose but everything was fine xD so glad i finally went on Shockwave
Yes I'm only 11 years old and then I sat on shockwave... The restraint was loose on me and I was like no they haven't tightened it 4 me and my Aunty told me that your skinny so that's why the restraint feels loosen

When I went on this my dad had hold of my arm cause my feet kept flying up and he thought I was gonna fall. I also banged my head and bruised my ribs, but it was worth it for the thrill and fun.
I know I'm 5 years late replying to this but everyone fly's up on rollercoasters and it's perfectly safe.

This thing is a treasure, an intamin standup with a heartline roll and B&M track. Showing its age

If you’re in the uk, merlin passes are a good thing for theme parks
@@frostyzsrl3073 merlin Passes only let you attend: Chessington World of Adventures, Thorpe Park and Alton Towers. But it does also let you in to other Attractions across the UK suck as the London Eye and I believe the Dungeons can all be used by Merlin annual pass holders I'm not 100 percent sure but yeah it definitely let's you in the theme parks I mentioned above!

Not the only stanf up left. There are a ton of stand up coasters around the world. This is the last Intamin stand up coaster. But not the last overall.
i loved this ride so much! make sure on the loops you hold on tight if you feel nervous. the ride itself is very quick and thrilling but it isn’t as bad as it looks

This was such a good ride, I wasn’t even stood up properly , was kindave sat down, the rides really quick and soo many loops, but really good and no queue, it’s soo uncomfortable tho and feels soo dangerous
Its completely safe. roller coasters are safer than cars. its close to impossible to die. You were perfectly safe :)
this looks scary but it isnt trust me its the second best ride ever (the first is air at alton towers) you basically r kinda sitting but ur standing and the seat is really secure nd the rides smooth so it isnt rough and u will wanna go on it again nd again i srsly recommend u go on this

I went to Drayton Manor today and Apocalypse, Shockwave and G-Force were my favorite. GOOD LUCK!
As someone who isn't easily scared by roller coasters, this ride is amazing, you get loads of airtime on the two loops and it's not as scary as the pov makes it look once your on it
Definitely give it a go.

THIS WAS SO FUN TO GO ON ! Even the loops... in the loops, my feet weren't touching the ground
I was clinging onto the bars because I thought I was going to slip out when my feet weren't touching the floor during the loops
@@Shiningxkitsune thats called airtime. its when you lift out of your seat. The ride is meant to do that. its perfectly safe. You were not even close to falling out. :)

@@Eleanqr. No you wouldnt have. I study coasters. That is impossible. You are more likely to to drop dead this second than for that to happen. The ride is supposed to mak you lift out of your seat when ever you go through an inversion. Its not dangerous. Its called airtime like I said. Its the sensation of weightlessness on a roller coaster. Almost all coasters on earth have it. Its not dangerous and its designed to do that. You don't have to hold on at all. Your shoulders would have hit the top of the restraint and stopped you if it did give that much airtime. And when you go back down the seat would stop you from slipping out the bottom. And you cannot fit through the sides or front of the restraint. You didn't almost fall out. Like I said I am a coaster enthusiast and I study coasters. There is a lot more going on behind the scenes with safety than what meets the eye. There is an entire industry too that many people are involved in. And when people say they almost fell out and anything like that and the news scaring people it hurts the industry because now no one will ride coasters.
@@LMBcoastersthank you lol, i understand that however like you said my shoulders would have hit the restraints, that was kind of the point as i am very small and skinning so above my head was nothing and the shoulder restraints left gaps so because of my size it really felt like if i had let go i would have fallen out on the loops.
My first rollercoaster with a loop in it and it was amazing! I went on it 2 days ago and they added a screen by the any row queue which allows staff to pick and play music for those waiting! Good ride although makes other rides seem pathetic - no tenseness after you've gone on Shockwave

This was my first inverting coaster many moons ago. Went to my first Six Flags park recently and rode Georgia Scorcher, but I'd honestly say I recall Shockwave being a much better ride even though they are both B&M stand-ups; the latter's larger curves and inversions are smoother and more enjoyable to experience than the formers tighter, sharper ones.
I went on this today! Only had to wait 10 minutes to get on! It is amazing!

I went on this when I was nine as I was quite tall and because i wasn’t as tall as an adult the harness moved and I cried thinking I would fall off
I was lucky to ride shockwave as a stand up coaster. The new sit down trains absolutely KILLED THE RIDE EXPERIENCE 😭😭😭
Took this 3x today. Went on a week day so literally no queues! I highly recommend taking the front row. We tried the last row and it was not as comfortable as the front row - also better view in front. :)

I remember going on this and it was my first roller coaster that did any type of inversion. My dad forced me to go on it with him and a mother next to me saw me crying and held my hand the whole way. Great ride for beginners though!!

That was the wait. The actual ride was 30 seconds but it was soo worth it. We only had to wait 25 minuets
Its not as scary as you think, I am 13 and I rode on it about 5 times because the que was mega short. also, you stand up on shockwave which makes it better!

The only stand up coaster in Great Britain, as well as the only Intamin Stand up still in operation.
Hopefully this continues operating for much longer and maybe one day gets converted into a Floorless if possible. The UK has never gotten a B&M floorless coaster at all so converting this into one would seem to be a possibility. La Ronde blew their chance by demolishing their Intamin stand up so this one seems like the only opportunity for this one to be converted into a floorless.
I looked it up and apparently intamin had a patent on the original B&M track design, but they stopped making that track design because of how expensive it is to build, so only three were ever built. The first was La Cobra at La Ronde (formerly known as batman the escape at astroland). The second was shockwave at Drayton Manor. The third was Flashback at SFMM. There's a little bit of history for you guys

This makes you feel like your gonna fall out so bad so cross your leg around the saddle or your feet lift off the floor g-force lift hill makes you feel like your slipping out I grabbed on the seat on the lift hill shouting sh#t :P but alton towers rides don't make you feel like your falling out apart from the Piretship at the back oh dear put it that way near miss of serious injury

+CoasterForce are you telling me that this is manufactured by INTAMIN???? it looks like B&M/Giovanola track and it, after riding it and hurting myself, is not of the usual quality of intamin. This ride is weird and can someone tell me why they didn't just use their usual 3 spine track rather than this?

As of January 2020, Shockwave is the only Intamin stand-up coaster still operating.
THIS IS THE MOST EPIC QUALITY
The queues in Drayton manor are really short on rainy days, the best part is the drop then loop, after that it is just torture. It really surprises you because it is so bumpy on the last couple of corkscrews and it hurts you so bad.

I LOVE THE RIDE
This was the first major rollercoaster I ever road at 11 years old. When I saw how massive the rides were compared to fairs I had been to I knew I was in for it. But I'm glad I got to experience this ride before they got rid of it.

I went on that ride in 2018 during a sixth form trip. I was already feeling stoked after being on Maelstrom and I was filled with even more adrenalin when I got off the ride.

I have been on it twice because I wasn’t brave in enough to go on it a few years ago but now I’m brave and I love these roller coasters because they are so fun but if I get scared then I just close my eyes u guys should try it and close your eyes if you feel scared but don’t go on it if you get peer pressured
