Heel Squeaks: out of frustration I took my shoe and hit it on my marble countertops in the kitchen holding the toe of the shoe and slapping the heel the bottom of the sole onto the marble countertop and I did it about 10 times and I tried it on and walked and it was much better but still a little squeaky so I did it again and did it a little more forcefully and now the squeak is gone so if that helps somebody out w/ a squeaky heel ~ more power to you!
Thank you so much, I've tried everything over the years and was about to give up when I noticed your comment. I took off my running shoe and banged it really hard several times on the floor, put it back on. Squeak gone! It must be some sort of air pocket trapped in the sole, and the slapping forces it out. Great job.
I tried it on my Nike winflo 9 shield and it works! I knew my shoes' squeaky noise comes from the foam cause i removed the insole and it still squeaking, powder didn't fix it so i slap my shoes really hard on the floor many times and the squeaky sounds are gone. Thank you very much.
Thank you! I won’t go into detail about where the squeak was coming from, but a few swipes of the area inside the shoe with sandpaper and no more squeaking! Now I can wear the Skecher Street Cleats that I bought 3 years ago 😆😆
Great video. I bought a pair of Nike Pegasus for $80 in March (8-9 months ago) and they’ve had a squeak for a lot of that time, probably at least 3/4 months. I’ll have to try those methods out. I don’t want to throw them away until I have to. They’re about to have a hole worn through the left foot - when that happens I may waterproof them with new inserts and tarp material, something like that.
Thank you so much! The baby powder and the paper towels did the trick! I used both!
OMG...I didn't realize that it was the insoles in my new dress shoes causing the squeaking. It was so embarrassing walking around at work with them squeaking so loud...LOL!!! As a temporary fix, I DID insert paper towel underneath the insole. Once I get home, I'll try either baby powder or coconut oil. A HUGE THANK YOU TO YOU!!!
Happy I could help Namreh!! 😊
Did you manage to finally solve it?
I bought Nike revolution 6 and it's a terribly squeaky shoe.
The coconut oil tip worked excellently. It stopped the squeakiness for a good 8 months. Now I'll reapply it.
In the past I had tried the baby powder solution, which only worked temporarily (for maybe 2-5 days at a time).
Awesome!! I just bought Adidas Stan Smiths and it is a hugely noisy shoe. Also, a terrible disappointment after watching all the hype on the internet. I'll try the coconut trick.
Reapplication didn't work as well because the sole is a bit worn and absorbed the oil instead allowing it to act as a lubricant.
@@itsover9008Then buy a new orthotic insert. It's better for your feet anyways.
Got the same pair bro they squeak bad
@@frogman_Yep, I basically won't buy Adidas or Puma shoes anymore. Vans and Converse are the only mainstream brands I'll buy. If I want anything more niche, I'll buy Thursday and Ace Marks.
thanks!!!! A lil powder under the insole saved me from throwing away a good pair of shoes.thanks to you!!
Happy I could help!! :)
I have a pair of brand new platform shoes that squeak underneath my heel, I'm assuming from underneath the sole, how would I fix this? It squeaks loudly with each step The sole is glued down
Same it’s very annoying
Any luck? 😓
Did you find out?
Mine is on the front part of the shoe
SAME OMGGGGGG ITS SO ANNOYING
Thanks for this info.! I used petroleum jelly on the back of the insoles. It also worked just fine.
I’ve had my pair of Nike Blazers for almost 2 years now and have always worn orthopedic inserts with them, but they started squeaking almost 5 months ago. I tried everything, baby powder, coconut oil, and paper towels both under the insole and in between the insole and the inserts. I finally found a solution and this is what I did:
I put baby powder under the insole and in between both the insole and my inserts. I then put a dryer sheet (we have eco’s sheets) under the insole with a corner sticking up out of the back. I then folded the corner inward on top of the insole and put my insert on top of the folded corner to make sure it stayed put. And boom, my shoes feel nice and snug and the squeak is gone
I can walk in peace now without that horribly annoying sound, thank you!!
Thank you!!!
My shoes were driving me insane. Powder under the removable inner sole worked. Thanks!
My shoes starts squeaking as soon as I enter my campus
Idk why it hates my college's tiles 😂
I'll try sand paper method
Lol Let me know if it worked! 😊
ahahahahahaha too toxic of an environment 🤣🤣
Same here ..on the roads they won't squeak but on the floor with tiles marble they start squeaking...
This actually works!!! Well method number 1 and 2 for me, I was really upset at the idea of throwing away my favourite shoes and I really couldn’t afford a new pair either. The squeaky was driving me crazy and I swear it was like an alarm that let everyone know I couldnt afford new ones! 🤣 but now they’re silent and I can continue to use them :) thanks a bundle! X
Thank you! Your first tip helped....I workin a library so it’s very annoying when my shoes squeak!
I am amazed! This video just saved me so many nerves. A pair of my new shoes was squeaking without any reason. What I did is simply pressing the insole more firmly into the shoe and it‘s fixed. Crazy how a „simple“ video like this can change such a situation…
Happy I could help! Thanks for sharing! 😊
I have hard plastic orthotics. The instep edge rubbed against that side of my faux leather shoe. Plastic against plastic = squeak. So I taped a strip of paper towel on that edge and it worked. However, it will eventually tear so I need alternate plans. Would roughing up the smooth faux leather make it less squeaky when rubbed by the orthotic> Would masking tape on the edge of the orthotic stop the squeak? Have no tape at the moment. Other suggestions welcome!
I use a piece of those mats that you place under small rugs to prevent slippage. Used my orthotic insole as a pattern. That worked perfectly. I didn't want to use petroleum jelly as my orthotics cost several hundred dollars.
Oh my days! Thank you for this video. I tried the paper towel and it worked. Thanks to you I didn’t have to throw my new trainers away. 👌🤝🙌
My shoe squeaks when I apply pressure on the ball of my foot when walking, any ideas? Heel also squeaks
Hi! Thanks for the tips on this. I have another challenge for you. :) I have a pair of Camper ancle boots (Peu Pista GM), and the sole is intact all the way around, but the glue in the middle has come loose. This gives a squeaky sound from both shoes as the sole grips the dry glue every time you put your boots down, and then slips again when you lift it. I considered using a syringe to spray glue from the bottom and in, but this would perforate the rubber. The boots are fully functional, and this is the only issue - there is no gaps anywhere else after 4 years. Thanks!
I need NEED to thank you. I travel a lot for work and do a ton of football (or soccer for you) inspections and can walk for miles a day. I wear special insoles for my flat feet that herald my approach. And if i am in a hallway checking the working rooms then the squeeks i make are magnified, so undignified. I had given up til i decided to search for an answer on yt and came up on your video. I first used the tissue technique using the tiny soft table napkins at the hotel breakfast buffet (i was having a light much). It took off 60% of the noise. When i got to my room i took off the insoles again and added foot deodorant powder over the napkins. So tissue AND powder. Works like a dream. The joy is pure. Thank you.
And how would I know where the squeaking comes from
Thx , had a pair of timbs for 5 years and they started to squick and now they’re good as new
Awesome!! Thanks for sharing!
How can you tell were the squeaking is coming ftom?
Thanks for your tips! It helped me think it through systematically. I ended up inserting a paper towel and it worked.
Details, if they help anyone:
New Nike running shoes; right shoe squeaks on every step, right under the ball of the foot. Ugg!! Should have just returned them.
I had to pull out a glued insole - just peeled it up, with some effort. Then tried on the shoe without the insole, and it still squeaked, so that meant the insole wasn't the problem. The next layer was a fibrous white fabric that was sewn in around the edges of the shoe, and I didn't want to cut the threads. So I took an Exacto knife and cut a large flap in the white fabric, away from the sewn edges, giving full access to the ball of the foot area. It seemed like this white fabric made a noise when it rubbed on the top of the sole of the shoe, because it wasn't glued in fully when manufactured. So I slipped a paper towel in between the white fabric and the rubber sole piece, tried on the shoes, and the squeak was gone. Great! To put everything back, I folded the flap back into place, put the insole back on top of it (the glue was still sticky enough that it stuck down and held everything back in its original place!), and now the squeak is gone! Whew! That was driving me crazy.
The only hassle will be that, every time I want to wash the shoes, I need to pull this shoe apart and replace the paper towel. I guess I can live with that. Or I might try inserting something other than paper towel, like a bit of thin cloth, so I can get it wet and not worry about it.
Extremely helpful! Thanks
Thank you so so much! This was very helpful.
are those the nike revolution 6s?
Yesss! The coconut oil worked immediately. I am so happy. Thanks.
My shoes (6 months old..) squeak loudly on office and home tiles!
Heck inside my car operating the clutch and brakes all I can hear in my dashcam videos are loud squeaks😅.. will try the sand paper method. Any idea what grit would be good?
Thank you, I didn’t realise it was the leather lip rubbing on the shoe making that awful sound it was so bad that i didn’t wear the shoes anymore for a good 5 months at least, but it was brand new and looked really good, now i can wear them again after applying some lotion to the shoe lip cause that was the next best thing i had
Glad I could help! 😎
Omg! Thank you. I have a pair of alegria shoes I absolutely love that have started squeaking. The coconut oil works amazingly
Wheres the method for when your insole is glued in
my dumbass forgot to be gentle and ripped it out💀
Then rip it out and replace with a new insole
@@GlitchBytesDon’t do this. If you buy Nike they give u their own one. If you replace them the other one won’t be as good.
Wow alot of methods thats never crossed my mind 😅
I ripped mine out from my Nike Revolution 6. It came off clean, so I have continued using it.
To be honest i never thought about this but makes alot of sense what you said on this video thats why now i have no more squicking on my shoes 👟 THANKS 🙏
Best video on this subject.
I have podiatry insoles and they have hard plastic material on the bottoms. The paper towel and powder trick didn't work. BUT I used my insoles as a pattern and cut out rug anti slip mats and placed those between the insoles and the shoe. Instantly worked.
This is excellent, thanks!
awesome baby powder worked...my not too old sneakers just started squeaking...u the man!
I only fit the shoes and there was a lot of squecing Didn't buy them yet.
I'm going to try the sand paper.
Baby powder and saddle soap for the win! New Balance squeaky sneakers are quiet now. Thanks!
I just used motor oil spread over my outer sole ....use cotton soaked in motor oil and apply on sole ....let it be unused for a few hrs ....it's done ....no squeaking at all...if it is from out sole of new shoes.....🎉
I think I will try that way. People are going to our trip and things for the daily video. I enjoyed every minute of it.
I did all of the things you said, my boot/shie squeaks without the inner sole inside it and if i just bend it.
by the sound and feel of friction/vibration it seems the sound is coming from inside the thick rubber sole. Im not gonna throw them away just because of a squeak, at least not yet, but this is bothersome.
Same here. Its so annoying!
i decided to remove the soles and pour some sesame oil in the shoe. then put the soles back inside. after about 10 minutes of walking, the squeaking was almost completely gone
@@mindyworkman6929 poured sesame oil in them (between the insole and shoe), then walked. 10-15 min later, the squeak was gone
I took out the insole in my pair of Kizik's and sprayed WD-40 in the joint where the sole meets the back., using the needle sprayer right in the crease. After a few minutes the squeak was gone, thanks to this thread....
Yes same!
I have a pair of brand new Reiss leather loafers that coast me £178 in the UK. NO WAY am I binning them! Plus I love them, apart from the squeaking of course. If your methods don’t work (I will get back to you on this) then I will have to put up with the squeakiness, which is in both shoes, but is not as bad as in a previous cheap pair I had a while ago. Those I took back to the shop.
Did the methods work?
Thanks for sharing these tips. It worked
You say you also have a method for when the sole is glued in, and then you never said what it is?... Could you elaborate, please? Thanks!
I don't know how to thank you for thos tips it really worked thank you soo much
Hey just wanted to share a method that worked for me. I bought a new pair of shoes and from the beginning one of them was super annoying and squeaked super loud. I tried the method of banging it on the floor but it didnt work. So i literally took a hammer and banged the inside of the shoe really hard like 10 times. It worked! Maybe this will help others.
I need advice.. I have some new timberland chukkas and they creak a lot when i walk, i think it is the metal eyelets at the top rubbing against the leather part at the top of the tongue. i have coconut oil and it doesnt seem to help and i cant imagine powder helping with metal on leather? any idea what i should do?
I have JW Anderson mules that squeak so loudly. I couldn’t throw out the shoes because I spent $500 on them. Using coconut oil worked!
Replacing the insoles fixed my issue. I was close to selling my cdg converse's but thankfully i changed the sole and now they're great
Omg mine are doing this too wtf
@@noemitellez3098 they started to squeak again 😂
Just throwing this out there in hopes that somebody knows the answer. What would be the best way to soundproof a grow tent? Would using those butyl rubber sound deadening mats for cars work? Any constructive input is very much welcome.
Using car deadening material won’t do a lot for soundproofing unless it’s completely covered leaving no gaps. That however would be very expensive.
Buy thick foam insulation cut it to perfectly go around your fans and tape it all the way every single square inch and it will help deaden the fan noise a little
Thank you.
What about a 'plop' sound coming from inside the sole somewhere at heel area? Why it happen and how to solve?
I have that too it’s so annoying
What methods were for the tread on the bottom? I have one shoe the squeaks as I walk.
Do you apply the saddle soap like a shoe polish/wax or use it as a cleaner as intended?
Thank you. The paper towel method worked !!!!!
Awesome! Thanks for letting everyone know!!
It will work but for how long ? Because with humidity talcum may become like a paste, with the heat hopefully the inner shoe will not turn into bread or something....
I have new Allen Edmonds dainite soles on polished concrete that is sealed they squeak on terrazzo floors they do not?
I hate to say you're wrong, but I came here because I was looking for a reason my BRAND NEW SHOES squeak, ONLY on the floors at work, and I think it has to do with the floors, because it's ONLY on those specific floors, and it's LOUD and irritating. I am disinclined to try rubbing the "slickness" off, because they're "non-slip" shoes, and this should in fact NOT be slick. Also, having to rub my shoes every time, before going into work and before leaving work (or actually, having to do it at ALL, since I'm already loaded down with work stuff as is). So, I'm pretty sure this is a different issue not covered in your video.
i have two pairs of shoes that squeak as if the floor is sticky,,, do u know why this might be or what i could do about it?
I have the same issue.
I have Vapormax plus and tbf I didn’t think any of these would work but the paper towel one worked ANYONE WHO ONES VAPORMAX 360s OR PLUS put paper towel under sole
I'm struggling with a new pair of clarks wallabees I'm going to try this
I just bought clarks (sale) loafters in a metallic tone, my goodness they are noisy. Never heard any shoes like it in my life!
Clicked on video cause my Chelsea work boots squeak and look just like yours, but different tread and mine are red wings. New shoes, but I'm an hvac tech climbing up ladders and walking on slanted roofs so I'm trying to find a solution that doesn't create a slip n fall hazard
I bought dress shoes months ago a good price too.. Had them stretched across top of foot they squeak now. How to know where squeak is coming from?🤷🏾
if you dont mind me asking, what was the name of the boots you were primarily showing? not the work boots 😅
Thanks to you my squeaking shoes are fixed.
I have a newer pair of Keens' with what appears to be a (patent?) leather lining. Bought them online, they fit perfect and are soo comfortable. The lining of the whole shoe top and tongue squeaks with every step !!. It is absolutely not the foot bed.
I can't wear them- they drive me crazy !!
Any suggestions?
Same here. Love them, but they're noisy as hell. I'll start with the baby powder, but it does sound like leather bits rubbing together.
Putting dryer sheets under in sole worked for me! My shoes squeaked constantly, but this completely stopped it.
does it work instantly?
What is an example of conditioning oil?
Links are in the description.
I tried baby powder in my black & white sneakers, and had to discard them as a result, as powder puffed out with each step, and I could not keep it from coating the black suede of the outside.
My shoes are brand new. I don't know why they squeak already, makes me not want to wear them
tysm dude
Hi, I bought a new pair of Cuck Taylor 70 and they squeak a lot, anyone else has had the same problem? Which method did you use from this video?
I have a brand new pair of Romeos and the right heel squeaks/ farts when you step down on it. It does it both with the insole in and out of the shoe and on any type of floor. The sound seems to be coming from inside the heel itself.
This is the second pair of these shoes I've had over the years tha has done this it must be a somewhat common problem.
For my left sneaker I tried corn starch no luck, tried paper towels still no luck, I am going to try the coconut oil but I have my doubts.
Did the coconut oil work???
@@soundproofguide Will find out in a day or two, never used coconut oil before had to order it on Amazon.
@@JohnSmith-ts7up did it
@@easadesad3227 I tried, still didn't work so I threw out the sneakers.
@@JohnSmith-ts7up OK thanks for the fast reply
I got a pair of Nike air max that squeak when I walk and it’s only the left shoe 😂 will have to try this out
I have two pairs of this air max that does this nonsense! They only started when getting older. I have to do something, or in the trash they go!
Should I use a paper towel along with coconut oil or just the coconut oil?
Try one and see if it works, if not then both! Sorry for the very late reply! Did you end up trying any tips and if so, how did it work for you? 😊
Thank YOU❤ $50 boots squeak ridiculously b/t tongue and side of shoe.
4:49 whats conditioning oil????
Shoe Conditioning Oil - amzn.to/3lmcCkE Here's the link. The oil is to be used after you clean the shoe and is meant to protect and preserve which will help in preventing squeaky shoes.
the coconut oil did not work, and the tongue is not leather but fabric so I doubt saddle soap will work :( ay other suggestions?
I tried baby powder and it doesn't work. what should I do now, plse help. And how to know it is from outside or inside? I can't tell which one is it in case of my shoes. please help.
I use water only to minimize the friction between sole and tiles.
I'll try this, as my pretty new Hey Dudes are embarrassing to wear at work... squeak, squeak, squeak... all down the hallways.
The baby powder did not work for me. I am going to try the coconut oil and saddlesoap. This is for a womens size 6 Ahnu hiking boot. The squeak is so annoying i cant wear them. Wish me luck
Try tissue AND powder like I commented above. Please let me know how it goes. Good luck!
I brought these sneakers from Amazon and they are terribly squeaking I did the baby powder bottom of soul and it works fine
Happy to hear!!
I have an even better solution!! Just by the Dr Scholls work insoles they don’t have plastic bottoms that trap air.
I have docs and they sound like the middle of my shoe makes a sticking noise as if maybe something touches. Think it might be my weight. Can anyone confirm or had similar issues?
What to do if the sole is stiched?
the first shoe is a horse riding boot, i have the exact same boots and got them from a saddlery
Really? I find them very comfortable!
My she's are bamd new and 3 days later I started squeeking and I have the Xmas pair different color same problem it is driving me insane so hope 1 of these tricks works or else 200 is in the trash 🗑 😅 😀 🙂
I just had a 200 IQ idea while scrolling through the comments, not being able to find a solution for when the sole is glued in for Nike's.
I could use a blow dryer, maybe that would work.
The noise goes away eventually. my timberlands and dior b27's make a lot of sqeuaking but after wearing them for a few weeks it went away.
I wore my hiking shoes for less than 2 months and it started squeaking. I don't know where the sound is coming from. They look brand new but they started squeaking loudly after about a month and a half
How can I identify where the squeaking is coming from?
Ah, talc-based baby powder has been associated with ovarian cancer.
I believe it's cornstarch now?
I tried the powder and coconut oil (not at the same time) but that didn't work at all :(
does it work instantly??
Yes.
I have a new pair of nike air leather that squeak when i walk
Used WD40 it did help but mine are glued in and it didn't completely get of the sound.
Thanks for sharing.
I think its squeeking from the bottom is it okay to use that rough paper
Sure it is! Sand paper. Let me know if it worked! 😊
My new boots squeak and nothing has helped! :(
I recently got the adifom q and after a few days it started squeaking
How would we get to know the exact reason of squeaking...?😢
