"Freedom is incarceration by a different name , I’m free to walk the streets, but I’m financially detained" I think about this line more than I'd like to admit
ALL the reviews are 9/10 or better and I've personally heard NOTHING but good things. Not at all underrated. Just not talked about and appreciated enough. A Canadian progressive metal band will never be appreciated.
My girlfriend and I are expecting our first baby any day now. We've been listening to the new tunes often and everytime we do the baby kicks up a storm. Looks like they're getting mom and dads taste and I couldn't be happier
Congrats man! My wife and I are expecting our 3rd. Her jam for our first pregnancy was Drumhead trail. Looks like our kids are going to have good taste in music!
Start em young! My daughter is two and she loves this album.. she sings the few words she recognizes as loud as she can haha. And is roughly on pitch too!
My favorite song on the album so far. I listened to the part at 03:25 from the november teaser so many times and now it's finally and fully here, I'm so happy
Saw Rody saying on Twitchi this was his fav track off of Palimpsest. I fucking agree, this song is just something else. The lyrics, the verse, the intensity. So fucking good.
This song is a stand out among an entire album that are stand out songs.. haha. I love the Lydian chord vibes in the intro, and I love Rody’s Operatic singing style, it’s very classic Geoff Tate style...especially the “truth of how I feel.” Line.. (listen to the album “operation mindcrime” to get what I’m saying here)... and that’s a damn good thing cuz Tate is arguably one of the best metal singers of the 80s..god damn it’s cool AF. Super impressed by this album and this song
YOOOO you guys absolutely SMASHED it out of the park with this album on all fronts. Rody's delivery on every line is powerful and great lyrics with perfect short little hooks here and there. Loving the added bit of heavyness with some growls in there and some blast beats on Soliloquy. Nice strings in the background to add to the epicness. Great rhythms and progressions in the songs (already like 20 riffs I want to learn on guitar). No weak songs and glad I bought the album :)
"And so I sew my seed year after year. Ill be the meanest bastard you ever seen." Who else is a bastard here? Im one,but not even close to those who made me this way. And im coming your way soon. I kept waiting half my life to come your way. Im going to chop that gigantic sequoya *winks*.
Metalheads in 1990’s: Raising against the government, creating a resistance against the system. 👿 Metalheads Now: Emm Emm there is too much politics in metal now. 🥺
But then laugh and roar. Being short of resources to express your ideas fuels brutal analogies tha goes under the radar. You just have to know about the second layer.
I really like the song and the album but why does it seem like Rody's vocals are subdued compared to all their other albums. I mean he has a vocal range like Freddie Mercury's, which is why I really love Rody's voice. And his voice can be as melodic as any guitar and hit notes as hard as any drum, but it just seems like his vocals are a little bit hollow on this album. But don't get me wrong, it's still a great album and I'm glad I bought it...but the vocals...maybe it's just me though
@@coreydunlap5260 what songs in particular??? And I'm listening to the song little snakes off the new album now and I kinda like it. Idk for some reason I'm just not into new album as much I like volition cuz the vocals and music together r really catchy especially some of the choruses
@@TemporalShrew not for me. And this and the other newest album have lots of weak points. The guitar riffs and music as a whole in the newest albums compared to volition are nowhere near as good in my opinion. Volition has lots of catchy riffs and choruses

Because it is so powerful and true
Me too brother
Every freaking day
This album is gonna be criminally underrated.

Aaron Hiebert That’s true. I suppose what I meant was under appreciated in general! This band should be so much more popular than they are!
@@coreydunlap5260 yep. Personally my fav band since the day Kezia dropped. One of the most overlooked and underappreciated bands in metal history.
Aaron Hiebert I agree they are an amazing band! They are definitely in my top three list of favorite bands. There is no other band like them
@@arhiebert91 Easily the most gifted and talented band out there. Between the what and who?
That voice crack at 3:38 is just absolutely perfect to describe the desperation depicted in this song.
3:38 "seen" gets me the chills. So much feelings in just barely a second...
"AND AS GROW IN MY SUPPOSED IMAGE!" at 4:37 is just... ARGH!
The last few verses. Chills down my spine and into my mind. CHILLS!
It seems Soliloquy is about Babyface Nelson and Reverie is about John Dillinger. Protest going hard on the early 1900's history
Hope they continue and cover the rest of modern history!
the dueling Cavaliers goes onto some other history too

buy a drum for this baby soon
Absolutely perfect song.

Nurgle Bless. This hits
If Bad Religion, Iron Maiden, System of a Down, and Rush had a baby genius, that would be pretty wicked, eh?
THIS FUCKING COMMENT IS ACCURATE AS FUCK!!
I cant deal with how good this album is

That main riff tho... so catchy
@Deaddog67 hail Satan!
2:44 really can't unhear "I pick up a pancake" from Oxford Dictionary Djent
jfc, EVERY song has been RIPPER so far. fanfuckingtastic album, boys.
I'm never gonna stop...

I have been listening this song on repeat for a week, is it normal? 😅
Banger!
2:18 has got to be an ode to Opeth i just don't know which song. Coincidence this song is called Reverie????
Reminds me of The grand conjuration
At 3:20 Luke and Tim are playing octaves, but in the mix it sounds like they're only playing the low notes. I prefer that.
What an album, hope u guys make it back to Ottawa once corona time is over !
i hope so man would love to see them again but here in ottawa!
Much love my guys. Thank you for your wonderful music
This song is simply awesome, love it
I wonder if “petals fall down... you spread me around” is an allusion to Kezia?
Also my thought :)
Had the same thought
Given their history of allusions to older songs, almost definitely.
I would think so, yeah. Especially since this song in particular is about the prison system.
@keepitsecret-dl1prDon't worry, I'm sure he hates your politics as well.
This album is super good!
This album helped me to survive this hard times
Really digging this one love the second half
Go Habs go!
This album has more to offer than Pacific Myth…I still will take Pacific Myth.
"And so I sew my seed year after year. Ill be the meanest bastard you ever seen."

WHEN I GET OUTTA HERE
the riff from 0:30 sounds like a reference to their Moonlight riff
Soon to be the first album I put on my next gen console when it releases!
and people still says music is dead ? this is better than any beatles song
The beginning riff sounded like something that would fit in a YS soundtrack.
I love this fucking song
Sounds good also at 0.75x. I think that sonetimes PTH should slow down a little bit their music
Fuck bro what is life rn 🤯 this is such a gangster ass album like woahhhhh
Anyone getting A fortress vibe in the Veres

And of course when they say "politics" they often mean a certain range of political thought they find disagreeable.
When 99.9% of metal bands are now parroting what "the system" says, yeah, we don't really want another lesson about how Washington was "a racist"....
@@gocsa ok go listen to Justin Bieber! F*cl off!

He experienced some issues with his vocal cords while recording. Dude still KILLS it on this album though. Absolute unit.
@@zachsmith5516 Oh shit I didn't know that. Dam and I love his f-ing voice. His vocals are SO unique
Man this album was another letdown for me just like Pacific myth to me the last good album was volition
This and Volition are about equally good, I'd say. The difference is that this album doesn't have any glaring weak points like Underbite.

Pacific myth was awesome! Not perfect but some awesome shit on there
