Mangini put his nuances into the stuff from DT's first 25 years, so it's natural Portnoy would do the same with stuff from the Mangini Era. They're both great and they're both on my favorites list, so I also wish people wouldn't take their preferences between the two Mikes so seriously.
But for real from what I've seen, the ones that actually babbles about Mike vs Mike isn't actually a pro drummer or at least don't know shit or two about drumming in a live environment. All they know that both must play exactly 1:1 like in the recording or else they think drum covers in youtube did better than them. Both Mike got the base structures of the songs right and that's the most important part on a live performance, period.
@TeramazeBand Relax man, it's not a criticism. I've been seeing them live since the 90s. I know their "concentration" faces, and that ain't it. I think they sound great this tour, I just hope they're enjoying it.
the band used to have different sets each night in their prime, but it's understandable that right now they goes for 1 setlist for the whole tour. Portnoy just comeback after 13 years of absence, Labrie struggles with the older materials (glad that he and the band improving slowly on this tour), and they just put out new album, so they might just spend more time rehearse the new materials and not so much for the older ones.
James was awesome!
Loved the eye contact between james and JP at the end of barstool warrior and JP managed to support the last high notes !
日本では、阿吽の呼吸といいます。😊🎉😊❤😊🎉😊ドリームシアターは、全てにおいて、素晴らしいです。素敵です。😊❤😊
Labrie is back
Him taking the higher lines down in their older stuff is definitely helping him sound better.
Great James 😀
Thank You for sharing!
Ask any pro drummer, it takes time to "settle in" to another drummer's parts written for a song, he sounds great here. Enough Mike VS. Mike babble.

@@GamingDrummer89 Mangini didn't put nuances. He ruined all the Portnoy songs.
@@EetFuk8no he did if you listen to it carefully
Agree Mike is great :P

this sounds great
james sounds good in hollow years
JAMES JAMES JAMES!!
Damn that Hollow Years solo might be as good as Budokan if not better. It's way more blues put into it here.
His best version yet on this tour. I didn't think anything could beat the Budokan one but by the time this tour is done, he might have it.
@esuing true, Budokan version is so iconic, but this one is great too, if he can get better than this then it might bear the iconic title too.
Petrucci in any version of Hollow Years is amazing
this guy has a really good phone !!!!
RAAAAAAH Petrucci mentioned Slovenia!!!!!! Come to us now!!!
Great
I absolutely love Hollow Years, but I wish JP dropped the light drive during the chorus. Some rich stereo modulation would sound a lot better IMO.
That stick toss at 7:32
thanks wonderful movie.I love John's guitar, but I wish John would be quiet in Jordan's piano section at Barstool Warrior😂
MP muito mais groove
I was wondering in Munich about the extra line in the pre-chorus of Hollow Years. This is a demo version of the song?
thanks for the great footage!, sounds pretty good too... what did you used to record?
Thanks. Samsung S24 ;).
21:12 video long))
Mangini does it better of course! No doubt
Absolutely...
but portnoy has the best feeling
6:44 Petrucci error
I know they're older and I know Hollow Years is a mello song but they seem like they're already bored with this tour.
not a chance they are bored dude, its called concentration

Man, Mike's sister passed away, and of course they're still full of sadness,,
