1) Yuju : she has the most powerful voice with the best technique and stability in the group. No doubt about it.
2) Eunha : the reasone why she's lead vocal is because she has a unique vocal color and good technique and stability. In my opinion, hers is one of the most versatile vocals in the group.
3) Yerin : she has one of the widest range, no doubt. Her vocals could reach lead or even main vocal standards with more training. She also has one of the most versatile vocals. Her vocals is one of the closest to Yuju's if we disregard the techniques. She has one of the most powerful vocals.
4) Sinb: personally, if Yerin's is closest to Yuju's, Sinb's is closest to Eunha's. She has versatility and stability as well. I think she has more to offer. Yerin is just a bit better in terms of power.
5) Umji : her voice is something very soothing to hear. Maybe not as versatile as the first four because she suits innocent concepts, cute concepts, and ballads but it's what keeps the balance in the group.
6) Sowon: she improved a lot, for sure but more to improve. It's not like we have anything to complain. she's Sowminem ;)
Hidden Melody Buddy I agree when in terms of Vocals. But when we put it in live performances including the dance and stability. The table will turn around for sinb and Yerin 😂
Like: Yuju>Eunha>Sinb>Yerin>Umji>Sowon
But I agree with Yerin being closest to Yuju's vocal power and range unlike Sinb and Eunha who have soft voices. I consider her as third with Vocals. But she lacks stability unlike Sinb when in live.
I love Gfriend and Yerin's my bias, but this is what everyone claims of their favorite group and it's almost never the truth. From what I've heard SinB might have better tone production than Eunha, but I'm not sure cause there's not that much proper material to judge from. What I can say for sure: all of them (except Yuju ofc) have very shallow singing approaches. Eunha can mix very high for a very long time, that's why she's lead vocal. Is it healthy? No. Is it a pleasure listening to? Depends on personal taste.

@@SunnySummerSeasons I forgot to add. All of them are very stable during performances and it's already hard enough to sing while running, what more with dancing? Yes, they didn't get the best vocal training because most of the group members are dance based (sinb, yerin, and sowon are main and lead dancers meanwhile umji seems to be lead dancer material too and i saw her predebut performance) except for eunha. Eunha received shorter training period than the rest of the group. Yuju is the only one who really focused on vocals but taking those into account, they're a pretty good group. They balance each other's vocals out. The "weak" vocals aren't really weak. Just very underdeveloped but it's not their forte. At least they can carry a tune. And I'm not saying Gfriend is the best vocal group out there, if that's what you think (referring to your "this is what everyone claims of their favorite group" comment). If you havent noticed, I also included some of their weaknesses. Even Yuju sometimes strain her voice and I notice it. Eunha tend to go sharp or flat sometimes. Sinb doesnt have enough material to offer gor criticisms (most of her lines seem easy to sing for someone with her range). Yerin strains high notes as well. Umji's voice is not powerful enough for some genres and Sowon as well. Sowon has the most stuff to work on vocally.

I think that they are great, I love them. But I'm not in love with the style of music they are given - I think that's the main reason why they may be underappreciated compared to other kpop ggs. I like BlackPink's music more (also CLC, RedVelvet and ITZY), but I think that the GFriend members are the best.

This is my own opinion for the rank of their voices after listening for them in a year (tbh I'm SO glad that i started listening to them, but then i regret don't know them earlier :') )
1. Yuju : like, she's on another level so no need reasons for her being 1st, lol. But please rest for more :(
2. Eunha : she's could be a main vocalists in another gg
3. Yerin : listen to her covering yuju part for tftmn
4. Sinb : just listen to sunrise
5. Umji : the cute voice of the group, i know she could improve more
6. Sowon : not being great means there's still a lot of opportunities to improve. Try listen to glass bead mr removed and compared it to fever mr removed. She's improved A LOT

Sinb and yerin are pretty close in vocal range but sinb is way more consistent and stable. Case in point sinb sang an f5 consistently throughout sunrise promotions. Sometimes it might seem yerin is more powerful because of her deeper tone compared with sinb, but sinb has great vocal projection and amazing stamina so I do think she is overall a better vocalist

Sowon, despite being a weak vocalist she is doing good. Even if she is just singing a few lines, she is slaying it.
I would also like to give my thanks to their vocal trainer. Teacher-nim is doing a great job on leveling up everyone together and not just focus on one member. Eunha improved a lot and now she can always replace Yuju for a while if Yuju needs to rest her voice. Yerin and SinB are very nice reserves. Umji is doing great and starting to learn harmonization. Sowon will always be that member who would slay a rap soon.

Sowon was trained as a RAPPER not a vocalist but suddenly become a vocalist in GFRIEND .Isnt that amazing?? Her voice just too underrated . Im pretty sure,she can be a best vocalist if she is trained properly and gain more confident.We all know that Sowon is kinda lack of confident when it comes to sing.Her tone may not that powerful but her low note is so good.I hope people can appreciate her.Being trained for a rapper for years,but suddenly become a vocalist is not easy.She must take so much time to get used into it.

Umji is my bias and my vocal ranking would still be the same as most: yuju > eunha > sinb/yerin (i think yerin is more confident/powerful but think sinb tends to be more stable and accurate) > umji > sowon.
but like, i honestly only put umji 5th because i think her voice still sounds so young. She (Especially now) continues to prove her vocal skills (sunrise, rough ballad, the summer rain live clip, etc.) but i think due to her journey in gfriend, her confidence has yet to rise completely and her stability isn't that great on stage. I honestly believe in a few years she could be up to par with someone like SinB (or at least where SinB is at this moment cause obviously all the girls will coninue to improve) because she's a similar age to her but SinB has been in the industry a whole lot longer. And especially now umji gets so much more love compared to debut, hopefully her confidence will help her improve because she clearly has so much potential to me.

There are four really unusual tones in GFriend. Yuju, Eunha, Yerin, SinB are the ones.
Let's talk about why it's a little unusual, and let's divide the tone of this group member into two.
1. Based on one high and low, Yerin, Sowon, Yuju are basically bass-based tones. On the contrary, Eunha, SinB, Umji have a treble tone.
2. The tone seen by weight is yuju and Yerin are heavy and powerful tones and the other four are light tones.
Now, when we talk to the owner of the unusual tone mentioned above,
SinB's usual voice is a husky bass, but when singing, the basic sound changes to a pre-pitched, and uses a finesse light treble and husky bass.
Yerin is basically the owner of the bass in the team. Nevertheless, yuju's absence replaces the treble, and the tone with Yuju has a similar tendency.
Basically, Yuju expresses a very good treble that gradually rises from a powerful bass.
Yerin is a dancer, so she may not be as disciplined as a vocalist, but she can't dance with a constant treble.
Yuju often sings without dancing when other members dance.
So Yerin is mainly done when gfriend's songs quickly climb from bass to high-pitched, forcefully.
Eunha expresses the treble of the fast beat, which is clear and sky-high, quite attractively expressive. If someone replaces this Eunha, then perhaps Umji and SinB will do. If the bit is fast, Umji will have a bigger share.
GFriend's songs have a little or no rap, and only a few songs are in the right place for a while. That rap is not entirely Sowon alone. You can see Yerin and SinB rapping. And their rapping is not as fast as other girl groups in general.
Basically, Sowon is a rapper, but is a bass owner, and even in the treble area, her voice is not a powerful voice like Yerin or Yuju, but has a tendency similar to SinB.
Sowon doesn't have more lines than Yuju or Eunha and has fewer centres than SinB Yerin. However, she is a leader of a team that performs very well as a bridge with Umji, and serves as an elder sister.
GFriend에서 정말로 특이한 음색은 4명이다. Yuju, Eunha, Yerin, SinB가 그들이다.
왜 특이한지는 조금 있다가 이야기하고, 일단 이 그룹 맴버의 음색을 둘로 나누어 보자.
1 고저를 기준으로 Yerin, Sowon, Yuju가 기본적으로 저음 계열의 음색이다. 반대로 Eunha, SinB, Umji가 고음 계열의 음색을 가진다.
2. 무게로 본 음색으로는 Yuju와 Yerin이 무겁고 힘이 있는 음색이고 다른 4명이 가벼운 음색이다.
이제 위에서 말한 특이한 음색의 소유자를 이야기하면,
SinB의 평상시 목소리는 허스키한 중저음인데 노래할때는 기본음이 중고음으로 바뀌고 기교있는 가벼운 고음과 허스키한 저음을 사용한다.
Yerin은 기본적으로 팀내에서 가장 저음의 소유자다. 그런데도 Yuju의 부재시 고음을 대신 하는 걸 보면 Yuju와 음색이 비슷한 경향을 가지는걸 알 수 있다.
기본적으로 Yuju는 힘있는 저음에서 서서히 길게 올라가는 고음을 매우 잘 표현한다.
Yerin이 댄서이기에 보컬로서 훈련을 유주만큼 안해서 일지도 모르겠지만 그녀는 지속적인 고음을 하면서 춤을 출 순 없다.
Yuju는 다른 맴버들이 춤을 출때 춤을 추지 않고 노래를 하는 경우가 많이 있다.
그래서 GFriend의 노래중에 저음에서 빠르게 고음으로 힘있게 살짝 올라가는 경우는 Yerin이 주로 한다.
Eunha는 맑고 하늘하늘한 빠른 비트의 고음을 상당히 매력적으로 잘 표현한다. 이 Eunha를 누군가가 대신한다면 그런 아마도 Umji와 SinB가 할 것이다. 비트가 빠르다면 그건 Umji가 더 몫이 커질 것이다.
GFriend의 노래는 랩이 거의 없거나 극히 일부곡에 잠깐 있다. 그 랩도 완전히 Sowon 혼자 하는 것도 아니다. Yerin과 SinB가 랩을 하는 경우를 볼 수 있다. 그리고 그녀들의 곡의 랩은 일반적인 다른 걸그룹보다 비트가 빠르지 않다.
기본적으로 Sowon은 랩퍼지만 저음 소유자고 고음 영역에서도 그녀의 목소리가 Yerin이나 Yuju처럼 힘이 있는 목소리는 아니고 SinB와 비슷한 성향을 가진다.
Sowon은 Yuju나 Eunha 보다 라인을 많이 가지지도 않고 SinB Yerin보다 센터도 적게 선다. 하지만 그녀는 Umji와 함께 브리지로서 역할을 매우 잘 수행하는 팀의 리더로서, Unni(elder sister)로서 충분한 역할을 수행한다.
