Unpopular opinion, but the game is more skill based than people would love to admit. Copying a godseekers build or any broken build in general is not going to make your winrate skyrocket. As long as your build is competent and not some goofy 5 attunement 300 hp avatar, you will usually win against people who are worse than you. The real problem is the sheer amount of cheese present in the game. We do not talk about overworld though
Nah, it's the truth and people hate it. Players don't like taking accountability and pin the blame for their losses on anything but themselves, including the game. Meta builds really only matter in top chime. If you aren't in top chime and your build is at least functional, you're gonna win against your opponent if you are better and it's as simple as that.
I agree with you and i also don't, when I have a build that i modify from a youtuber or remake an old build to make it better its usually on par with other builds mainly in HP, however HP and Damage resistances is where the problem lies, every player tries to push damage to its limit so that they can deal a shit ton of damage with only a couple of attacks, usually if I have anything below 500 Hp i would be cooked, which is why i feel base HP and Hp cap should be higher to help combat this high damage meta.
Overnerfing is the one single thing killing deepwoken in general, not just pvp. Instead of spreading the deck of cards (weapons, builds, oaths, etc) to an even level where they all are usable they just bury the top card into the bottom making place for a new one. PvE and Casual players are affected by this too just because of PvP and a lack of actual balancing.
deepwoken is dying though im confused why people say this? It may not be hitting 25k-30k as much anymore but its most consistent player count has been 10-15k. As long as its not hitting significantly below those for a long period of time its not dying.

I lowkey disagree with chapter 1, due to the fact that basically NOONE uses solar and unless you want cheese builds to be more prevalent than they already are, then they need to keep venting in the game.
I feel like they dont spend enough time on balancing the new weapons. The Kanabo could litterally deal up to 2 bars with its crit on release. Even after they nerfed it i could still deal 1.2-1.5 bars with the crits when i used berserk. Hell, i haven't played in a month and yet the Kanabo carried me to 1300 Elo (my previous highest elo was 1100). I feel like they should stop adding new weapons and focus on balacing the existing ones rn.
The problem is now in verse 2, it feels more like Build vs Build rather than skill vs skill. They should also start balancing the game towards the casual player rather than top 250
you are right about the updates. Before pyrkeeper yea there was broken stuff but with it being introduced it released a whole new balancing issue. I think they need to take a break with new weapons and do a month of just balancing updates and also working on conquest

One thing I'd like to add on the over-nerfing issue is that it does the Developers a huge disservice and just straight up causes them more work or for their work to be completely pointless. There's a ton of different examples I could use for this, But the main reason devs buff a thing is to gain attention and to keep players interested. From shattered crit to even mantras like permafrost prison, They make things to gain interest and to make something better and more usable. But then they gut it so bad that's completely unusable, It's contradictory in nature. Permafrost isn't even usable in PvP anymore practically. shattered is no longer seen. Their efforts to make something interesting and usable is completely a waste because because they overdo nerfs. Like why did LFT need nerfed THAT badly? you see like no LFT user now.
I think the main problem in deepwoken are the stuffs that does WAY too much dmg (ex : Pyre Keeper, Wyrmtooth, Mage builds, Silent Heart being straight up a m1 feint spam, and some mantras) Also the second main problem is the daze and stun effect because its not normal to lose 2 bars just because you missed a parry
Metamancing will lead you to "good builds" but nothing more. You'll literally still get your shit rocked by anyone who plays the game better. There are better builds that better players use. The meta does not matter when you are good at the game.
the biggest issue with this game is trackstarring by far. metamancing is somewhat okay because you can at least win if you're good enough if you're not metamancing but curved thunder jetstriker is literally already a powerful build on its own and then in overworld you are unkillable unless there's another trackstar build after you (not to mention it's a little pay to win solely because of felinor). the problem with mobility to sum it up is that trackstar builds are uncatchable because there's no mobility options to chase people unless you copy their build, and on top of that the trackstar builds themselves are already completely viable in PVP since they use already well-worn hybrids
i hate these people yapping about vent but it's the only thing that's keeping the game playable without being a total 0 ping sweat with peak parry reaction or always able to parry mid combo
honestly a good way to implement is by making it fall off VERY fast like 5% per second but an m1/mantra(obvs m1s will give way more) give tempo as long as they block or get hit. this would force you to play aggressive because mage builds to be able to spam have to play more defensive which will be bad for them
they should remove venting and bring back verse 1 parry frames, they gutted the only fun mechanic and added venting as a bandaid fix. having a true counter was what made deepwoken so unique, you never see long parry trades anymore :(
the good thing about deepwoken now is that i feel like its easier for a new player to catch up and be at least average since most of the combat is just basic parry and feint knowledge + a good build
It is indeed not easier. its actually considerably harder compared to verse 1. The skill ceiling is so high its hard for new players to even get near being average.
they should add reservoir back stop buffing flame as hell, why twisted puppets does something only if you are using flame? and focusing on the things we have and no adding others
PVP needs to be looked at by the devs Firstly: The devs don't seem to care about the attunements or making sure all of them are on an equal level, or promoting variety with them, and for whatever reason are just letting Fino and whoever else adds to Flamecharm run TOO RAMPANT leading to specifically Flame being over-tuned to a point where it's really the only attunement you can run if you want to win or so much as have a chance, and Shadow just being over-tuned/over-buffed as well. As of right now, you can only really run Flame or Shadow (or both) if you want your build to be giga broken super good meta contender, and none of the other attunements are getting that same level of love which needs to be addressed. SURE every other element is good, but not on the same level as Flame/Shadow, as none of them have been getting the same treatment, most other elements do not have the same level of variety to allow for consistency OR allow for more mixed choices in what you want to use on the same level Flame/Shadow provides you with. With every attunement that isn't Flame/Shadow, you kinda have to pick the same few mantras, use the same few combos, pick the exact same talents, whereas with Flame or Shadow, your choice in mantras is practically whatever you want (with only a few being must haves) because EVERYTHING they have on hand is good. Secondly: 2 OR MORE Verses 1. It's becoming more and more impossible to "bossraid" with each addition to PVP, whether it be a new weapon or a new mantra. Unless you have a specific kind of build, or SPECIFICALLY have Reaper, if your opponent simply has more numbers than you (and more than 2 braincells), you can't win. If someone gets low, they can run, hell they get rewarded for doing so. Or they can simply swap out with another member, whereas with you, well you're just pinned and have to deal with it. And unless you have Reaper on hand, or the very few other bells that instagrip, you're not going to make it far getting a knock. If you find yourself getting jumped by 3-4 people, you're just done for, as if you get a knock, the other people that aren't knocked will swarm you so that way the person you did knock can get carried away and heal to then return and swap with whoever else may be low. This current state of PVP literally shuts down originality between bell choice and even build choices as if you want to be able to win, you either need sheer numbers, or very specific builds/bells. (Imo, there needs to be some form of instagrip with every bell, this could potentially aid this issue) You either choose Reaper or simply PRAY that your opponent doesn't have 37 more people on standby to kill you. Thirdly: RUNNING! There has been a MASSIVE number of "nerfs" and additions to aid you in chasing someone down, and to make running seem less viable, but.. No, not really. If someone wants to run, unless you have very specific mantras/abilities, or simply lack the talents or agility, you're NOT catching someone if they want to run, ESPECIALLY in places like Hive where the area itself seems to promote running like a coward. They have a tracking system where if you preform a running attack behind someone who is running, you lock onto them and dash into them, however it's easy to dodge, easy to parry, AND the range on it is unknowable, and it's hard to tell in some cases if you can or cannot use it. Sometimes you'll be 30 miles away from your target and you'll lock on, and other times you can be practically touching a target and it won't lock on, which if you whiff a running attack, you get punished SO HARD for it, allowing your target to gain immense distance for things that were out of your control (Honestly just having an indicator on when this tracking is active, and maybe a range increase would go a LONG way). Then we have Air Counter, a seemingly more reliable method, with a much bigger range, much more consistent tracking, and it's easier to know when you can use it, but it's only ever useful if your opponent tries to climb up spaces, AND if you're not close enough, say goodbye to your target, and on the off chance your Air Counter misses or just doesn't hit, well that's just tough, have to deal with it. This can be frustrating when trying to chase people in places like Hive where you have the harshest designed maps that promote running to the extreme, with bounce pads that go on a cooldown after a single use that can seem to last long enough for someone to gain immense distance. On top of this, they have an abysmal mob spawn rate at the moment which makes it almost impossible to fight people let alone track someone if they are running, as all it takes if a mob or 2 sneaking you or a Legion sniper flinging you the opposite way to KILL your chase in an instant. On top of this, the sheer number of LONG ziplines which are horribly long and make chasing people depressingly long or more often than not, allow for beyond easy escapes for a target. ALSO, something brought up in the video was ASSASSINATIONS, this is a mechanic, a build practice, a form of cheese that just.. Shouldn't exist, the mechanic could be removed tomorrow and nothing about the game would change. There is absolutely 0 reason when fighting someone, that another person can run up behind you and dish out a FREE 30+% damage MULTIPLE TIMES with 0 counterplay, this NEEDS to be addressed. Lastly: Cheese. LOTS of cheese, that the devs seem to be aware of but simply choose not to do anything about. Like the overwhelming amount of mage builds, or things like lockdown into Shadow Vortex, lockdown into Sightless Beam, that INCREDIBLY horrid Metal Rampart into Iceberg/Salt healing potion spam, or any bomb build I'll be honest, or currently any means to lockdown an opponent to confirm a Kanabo crit. So many of these kinds of builds have some of the simplest ways they could be dealt with, but the devs just have no desire to fix or nerf these issues, which leads to an overflow of cheesy builds which make partaking in PVP just boring overall, I come to a gank, or hop into Chime to fight someone and have fun, not have to deal with the most brutal and punishing cheese build where I am FORCED to play a very specific way if I want to even have a CHANCE of winning against these builds. Something I saw brought up was a huge amount of hate for Venting, which honestly, in a 1v1, sure, it's a bit annoying to have someone spam it off every hit, but in a 2v1, or in a mass jumping, NOBODY wants to have to deal with 2 or more people surrounding you and M1ing you from every angle and your only option is to just hope you get a parry off while multiple people are beating on your from every angle.
i blame the introduction of shrine of order, u actually had to pick which investment to heavily invest in that would fit ur playstyle and build, with shrine it just u can have everything cause why tf not. If everyone have everything, there's no such thing as diversity
I think adding shrine of order was a necessary step in build creation, giving players a lot more things to work and experiment with. Think how stale deepwoken build making and pvp would be after all this time if shrine of order wasn't added. In conclusion as people get better, so should the ways of making a build improve too and shrine of order is the improvement we needed

I feel like Deepwoken would benefit from having either 2 weeks - a month in between updates, weekly updates is cool and all but having only a week to create brand new content for one of the most complicated games on Roblox just isn't enough time, and ends up following a formula: New mantra, new spark mantra, new leg weapon, etc etc Don't get me wrong, for a week the devs are actually making really cool updates, but imagine doubling the time they have, not only do they have more breathing room, they have more time to think and then add newer things
Chapter 6 about the updates and cramming content would be completely solved if the devs did biweekly updates instead like quackquack suggested, but the community is so shit that they probably would get outraged over the game being better in a way like that
From the perspective of a fighting game player, please shut up about people that aren't approaching in stuff like chime. There's more than enough mobility options for YOU to engage them and force them into pressure. If you can't play neutral that's nobody's fault but your own. It's not like Black Magic 2 where the approach options were so risky that they didn't solve the problem. Nobody is obligated to just run into your attacks.

As someone with roughly 300 hours on Silentheart I can safely say it is one of the most overrated and underpowered oaths in the game, even my vow of mastery support build is a bigger threat purely cuz of the fact it has 9 mantras that grant massive versatility, Silentheart losses out on way too much and gets bearly anything in return

Venting is a mechanic not meant for a game like deepwoken. They just slapped it on because the devs apparently cant realize the difference between a 2d fighting game and a parry based mmorpg rouglike abomination. Also, remove parry cd. Why does a parry based game have to have it's most important defensive option on a long ass cooldown in case you miss. Add that to a game where your build gets wiped if you try to learn pvp through the only 1v1 gamemode and you get a dogshit game

As someone with 641 hp and around 70 ish resistance for both (after talents applied) I can tell you going a pure tank build to try a different play type with high hp low dmg low mobility and good crowd control is extremely dogshit. Simply put, damage in deepwoken is incredibly high to the point where low invested fist m1s do 5% to me. Another example is that kanabo crit. Why would my hp matter if that mf sends me to the moon. TLDR: hp and resistances isn’t a viable option and tank builds suck. ( you WILL hate me I know but as someone with 500+ hours on those specific builds I’m telling you it’s quite bad)

I think it's mostly about how boosted the weapon is, like almost on par with the pyre keeper. It's a LHT with quick guardbreak criticals, so imagine having Ash Slam and Fireblade in one weapon yes. And well, honestly the weapon just boost peoples who use it so badly. Like, dude I literally beat like 4 deepspindle user with maxed build, master armor while I'm only wearing IU armor and still at level 18 because those guys can't even parry or block anything. Cause yeah why would they practice parrying if their weapon allows them to just rush down any opponents.
deepwoken is the best pvp on roblox. it is extremely skill based. im not joking im serious there is a serious gap in talent between a good player and bad one.

The fix: Removing Chime, have a few weeks of no content and only balance changes, Make Overworld elo a thing and don't give it flair like the colors to be used as a meat measuring marathon. Alternate fix for the losers that want something chime-adjacent: Vow-Of-Bloodshed. Old thing from back in the day where the loser died, make that give elo and reduce damage from outside players by 90-99% and there you go.

That God kit must be 80 hp 5 phy for it to be worth 1 3 star crypt I traded 2 deep swindles for 130 hp 45 phy kit so i could get 600 hp 45 phy

I think the main problem in deepwoken are the stuffs that does WAY too much dmg (ex : Pyre Keeper, Wyrmtooth, Mage builds, Silent Heart being straight up a m1 feint spam, and some mantras)
Also the second main problem is the daze and stun effect because its not normal to lose 2 bars just because you missed a parry

the biggest issue with this game is trackstarring by far. metamancing is somewhat okay because you can at least win if you're good enough if you're not metamancing but curved thunder jetstriker is literally already a powerful build on its own and then in overworld you are unkillable unless there's another trackstar build after you (not to mention it's a little pay to win solely because of felinor). the problem with mobility to sum it up is that trackstar builds are uncatchable because there's no mobility options to chase people unless you copy their build, and on top of that the trackstar builds themselves are already completely viable in PVP since they use already well-worn hybrids

honestly a good way to implement is by making it fall off VERY fast like 5% per second but an m1/mantra(obvs m1s will give way more) give tempo as long as they block or get hit.

PVP needs to be looked at by the devs
Firstly: The devs don't seem to care about the attunements or making sure all of them are on an equal level, or promoting variety with them, and for whatever reason are just letting Fino and whoever else adds to Flamecharm run TOO RAMPANT leading to specifically Flame being over-tuned to a point where it's really the only attunement you can run if you want to win or so much as have a chance, and Shadow just being over-tuned/over-buffed as well. As of right now, you can only really run Flame or Shadow (or both) if you want your build to be giga broken super good meta contender, and none of the other attunements are getting that same level of love which needs to be addressed. SURE every other element is good, but not on the same level as Flame/Shadow, as none of them have been getting the same treatment, most other elements do not have the same level of variety to allow for consistency OR allow for more mixed choices in what you want to use on the same level Flame/Shadow provides you with. With every attunement that isn't Flame/Shadow, you kinda have to pick the same few mantras, use the same few combos, pick the exact same talents, whereas with Flame or Shadow, your choice in mantras is practically whatever you want (with only a few being must haves) because EVERYTHING they have on hand is good.
Secondly: 2 OR MORE Verses 1. It's becoming more and more impossible to "bossraid" with each addition to PVP, whether it be a new weapon or a new mantra. Unless you have a specific kind of build, or SPECIFICALLY have Reaper, if your opponent simply has more numbers than you (and more than 2 braincells), you can't win. If someone gets low, they can run, hell they get rewarded for doing so. Or they can simply swap out with another member, whereas with you, well you're just pinned and have to deal with it. And unless you have Reaper on hand, or the very few other bells that instagrip, you're not going to make it far getting a knock. If you find yourself getting jumped by 3-4 people, you're just done for, as if you get a knock, the other people that aren't knocked will swarm you so that way the person you did knock can get carried away and heal to then return and swap with whoever else may be low. This current state of PVP literally shuts down originality between bell choice and even build choices as if you want to be able to win, you either need sheer numbers, or very specific builds/bells. (Imo, there needs to be some form of instagrip with every bell, this could potentially aid this issue) You either choose Reaper or simply PRAY that your opponent doesn't have 37 more people on standby to kill you.
Thirdly: RUNNING! There has been a MASSIVE number of "nerfs" and additions to aid you in chasing someone down, and to make running seem less viable, but.. No, not really. If someone wants to run, unless you have very specific mantras/abilities, or simply lack the talents or agility, you're NOT catching someone if they want to run, ESPECIALLY in places like Hive where the area itself seems to promote running like a coward. They have a tracking system where if you preform a running attack behind someone who is running, you lock onto them and dash into them, however it's easy to dodge, easy to parry, AND the range on it is unknowable, and it's hard to tell in some cases if you can or cannot use it. Sometimes you'll be 30 miles away from your target and you'll lock on, and other times you can be practically touching a target and it won't lock on, which if you whiff a running attack, you get punished SO HARD for it, allowing your target to gain immense distance for things that were out of your control (Honestly just having an indicator on when this tracking is active, and maybe a range increase would go a LONG way). Then we have Air Counter, a seemingly more reliable method, with a much bigger range, much more consistent tracking, and it's easier to know when you can use it, but it's only ever useful if your opponent tries to climb up spaces, AND if you're not close enough, say goodbye to your target, and on the off chance your Air Counter misses or just doesn't hit, well that's just tough, have to deal with it. This can be frustrating when trying to chase people in places like Hive where you have the harshest designed maps that promote running to the extreme, with bounce pads that go on a cooldown after a single use that can seem to last long enough for someone to gain immense distance. On top of this, they have an abysmal mob spawn rate at the moment which makes it almost impossible to fight people let alone track someone if they are running, as all it takes if a mob or 2 sneaking you or a Legion sniper flinging you the opposite way to KILL your chase in an instant. On top of this, the sheer number of LONG ziplines which are horribly long and make chasing people depressingly long or more often than not, allow for beyond easy escapes for a target. ALSO, something brought up in the video was ASSASSINATIONS, this is a mechanic, a build practice, a form of cheese that just.. Shouldn't exist, the mechanic could be removed tomorrow and nothing about the game would change. There is absolutely 0 reason when fighting someone, that another person can run up behind you and dish out a FREE 30+% damage MULTIPLE TIMES with 0 counterplay, this NEEDS to be addressed.
Lastly: Cheese. LOTS of cheese, that the devs seem to be aware of but simply choose not to do anything about. Like the overwhelming amount of mage builds, or things like lockdown into Shadow Vortex, lockdown into Sightless Beam, that INCREDIBLY horrid Metal Rampart into Iceberg/Salt healing potion spam, or any bomb build I'll be honest, or currently any means to lockdown an opponent to confirm a Kanabo crit. So many of these kinds of builds have some of the simplest ways they could be dealt with, but the devs just have no desire to fix or nerf these issues, which leads to an overflow of cheesy builds which make partaking in PVP just boring overall, I come to a gank, or hop into Chime to fight someone and have fun, not have to deal with the most brutal and punishing cheese build where I am FORCED to play a very specific way if I want to even have a CHANCE of winning against these builds.
Something I saw brought up was a huge amount of hate for Venting, which honestly, in a 1v1, sure, it's a bit annoying to have someone spam it off every hit, but in a 2v1, or in a mass jumping, NOBODY wants to have to deal with 2 or more people surrounding you and M1ing you from every angle and your only option is to just hope you get a parry off while multiple people are beating on your from every angle.
i blame the introduction of shrine of order, u actually had to pick which investment to heavily invest in that would fit ur playstyle and build, with shrine it just u can have everything cause why tf not. If everyone have everything, there's no such thing as diversity
I think adding shrine of order was a necessary step in build creation, giving players a lot more things to work and experiment with. Think how stale deepwoken build making and pvp would be after all this time if shrine of order wasn't added. In conclusion as people get better, so should the ways of making a build improve too and shrine of order is the improvement we needed

I feel like Deepwoken would benefit from having either 2 weeks - a month in between updates, weekly updates is cool and all but having only a week to create brand new content for one of the most complicated games on Roblox just isn't enough time, and ends up following a formula:
New mantra, new spark mantra, new leg weapon, etc etc
Don't get me wrong, for a week the devs are actually making really cool updates, but imagine doubling the time they have, not only do they have more breathing room, they have more time to think and then add newer things

There's more than enough mobility options for YOU to engage them and force them into pressure. If you can't play neutral that's nobody's fault but your own. As someone with roughly 300 hours on Silentheart I can safely say it is one of the most overrated and underpowered oaths in the game, even my vow of mastery support build is a bigger threat purely cuz of the fact it has 9 mantras that grant massive versatility, Silentheart losses out on way too much and gets bearly anything in return

Venting is a mechanic not meant for a game like deepwoken. They just slapped it on because the devs apparently cant realize the difference between a 2d fighting game and a parry based mmorpg rouglike abomination. Also, remove parry cd. Why does a parry based game have to have it's most important defensive option on a long ass cooldown in case you miss. Add that to a game where your build gets wiped if you try to learn pvp through the only 1v1 gamemode and you get a dogshit game

As someone with 641 hp and around 70 ish resistance for both (after talents applied) I can tell you going a pure tank build to try a different play type with high hp low dmg low mobility and good crowd control is extremely dogshit. Simply put, damage in deepwoken is incredibly high to the point where low invested fist m1s do 5% to me. Another example is that kanabo crit. Why would my hp matter if that mf sends me to the moon. TLDR: hp and resistances isn’t a viable option and tank builds suck. ( you WILL hate me I know but as someone with 500+ hours on those specific builds I’m telling you it’s quite bad)

I think it's mostly about how boosted the weapon is, like almost on par with the pyre keeper.
It's a LHT with quick guardbreak criticals, so imagine having Ash Slam and Fireblade in one weapon yes.
And well, honestly the weapon just boost peoples who use it so badly. Like, dude I literally beat like 4 deepspindle user with maxed build, master armor while I'm only wearing IU armor and still at level 18 because those guys can't even parry or block anything. Cause yeah why would they practice parrying if their weapon allows them to just rush down any opponents.

The fix: Removing Chime, have a few weeks of no content and only balance changes, Make Overworld elo a thing and don't give it flair like the colors to be used as a meat measuring marathon.
Alternate fix for the losers that want something chime-adjacent: Vow-Of-Bloodshed. Old thing from back in the day where the loser died, make that give elo and reduce damage from outside players by 90-99% and there you go.
