My name is Jay Swanson - I'm an American writer living in Paris on an artist visa. Paris (yes the one in France) has been my home for years now and I have every intention of staying here for as long as they'll have me. I write science-fiction and fantasy, vlogged daily for 3+ years, and love pizza a little too much. Now I make videos about visiting Paris, traveling in Europe, and try to share what I've learned along the way. I hope you enjoyed what you found.

Never bin in Paris with snow, that's one for the bucketlist ⛄🙋🏻🍀🐕
Tricky one to catch, to be sure, but always lovely (for at least a few hours haha)
Cooper has to get smiles on the metro.
All the time
With you on the snow and cold Jay. Enough Winter now ! Mind you Paris did look gorgeous (as always!) in the snow. That shot of the winter sun behind the Eiffel Tower looked amazing!
I never let a comment, but PLEASE Jay, don't stop this daily vlogs you can't imagine how it motivated me in my life to be productive, motivated etc, thx u so much 🙏 (sorry for my english ^^)
Your English is awesome, and so is your comment - thank you!
I think it's so amazing you have so many friends to hang out with. I think the culture there is more conducive to that. It seems you've hit your stride. Happy to see. Best wishes from Florida.
My French students and I in West Haven, Connecticut enjoy your videos!
Thanks Gina! Hi to the whole class!
Ohhh, yes! Rare steak, so yummy! And nice to meet you, Arianna.
Snow in Paris is tweaking my memory banks. 1990 -- after the late January hurricane that swept across England and Northwestern Europe disrupting my travel plans I spent a couple of days with Wisse & Zoe in Amsterdam until the train tracks were cleared, then overnighted to Basel, on to Lausanne to visit old family friend Virginia who put me up overnight. Then treated myself to a trip to Zermatt so I could see the real Matterhorn (instead of the Disney version), perfect weather -- fairly thick snow on the roofs and on the ground and me in shirtsleeves eating ice cream at an outdoor café listening to American skiers saying how great the weather was. On through impossibly beautiful Swiss & French countryside to Paris with just a soupçon of niege on the ground. Hot chocolate at Angelina's where I met the American expatriate artist Amaranth Ehrenhalt (since deceased) who became a friend. Then back to Amsterdam for work. No Elfstedentocht that year. Still, a bit of snow is fun for me. I had sneakers on in Paris instead of my usual Redwing boots which is more than a little odd. Can't remember why. Somewhere in storage is a photo I took of my feet in the Paris snow.
Sounds like an amazing time, and what vivid memories! Thank you for sharing.
Cooper is walking therapy for people 😊 great to have so many videos ❤thanks Jay!
He brings many a smile as he twinkle-toes along
First emploie is also really cute.
She's super cool - happy she stuck with us!
1:42 Bravery award for Jay Swanson.
Paris with snow is nice! I ate in that restaurant. Coopers getting big (ish).
Hi, what beautiful background, the pictures I’m sure will be beautiful!
One time when I was in Paris I decided that I would really like to walk up the steps to the Basilica regardless of the stringers. So up I went with 3 of those guys following me and I'm like Nope, not having it, and ignored them completely. They got to the point where they were begging, Lady my string, my string, please would you just look at my string, please, please, please! Maybe they were worried that if they were invisible to me they would be invisible to others? It was very hard to wait until I was at the top of the stairs not to laugh. 😄
More great light
Paris looks so pretty in the snow. That lunch looked very delicious. Nice to meet your assistant Arianna.
A bit disappointed that you didn’t mention that Xavier de Namur (owner of Les Philosophes) is very adamant about all food served being “fait maison”
Thanks for mentioning it here! I don't always get the chance to speak to the owners and learn about the ins and outs of their restaurants, but I always appreciate learning more in the comments, so thank you!
Love that northern lights photo of Cooper! Looks chilly and gorgeous
love the daily videos and its seems every day your audience continues to grow :) thanks for all you do Jay!
Glad to have you along for the ride, Mollie!
So fun!!!
I love snow days! There is an underground passage that allows access to the other side of that chaos.
So sad about the snow😥 I'll be there soon from Minneapolis and was hoping to avoid winter and leave my boots behind! Loved the shot of "Le Petit Train de Montmartre" I did that touristy ride a few years back but am now a firm believer in the funicular - included with the Navigo. If I were younger I'd just take the steps! Another "classic" video - thanks for all you do!
Well, that looks quite brisk out there. Yikes man. Your new assistant seems great. Super cool vibe. Digging the music too. Cheers!
Thanks!
6:27 Awww that’s sweet.
I can watch but, it will be Springtime in Paris , avant de venir. Printemps Oui 🌴🌴Aloha
Very snowy in NYC rn too Jay!!!! Super thanks headed your way next coffee/or cooper snack is on me! 😊
That's TWO coffees - thanks a lot, Nick!
@@JaySwanson Anytime Jay!
Thanks!
Thank YOU Nick!
I've been enjoying the images Arianna has captured for you and it's nice to meet her! We had a run-in with the bracelet guys, too. I nicely refused a bracelet and one of them tried to force it on my wrist. When my husband asked them to back off, they accused us of being racist!! It was very uncomfortable. It didn't take away from our wonderful Paris experience, though. These things happen. :)
They really know how to escalate things 😆
I would love to have just that small amount of snow... I live in the US snow belt.
3:55 Haha try doing in NYC. You’ll be just fine.
Suffer for fashion, dahling! The Trocadero shot was worth it ❤ And let me know before your next trip to Finland, I'lll give you some of my tips!
Oh, and this ...

I just wish I could shoot vlogs and stuff for people. Contract employment, just you wait 😂
Hey Jay how’s Paris in mid April ? Is it wild like nyc where as it can sunny and mild one day then the next day is chilly windy & rainy ?
It's a step or two down in intensity I think, but similar in swings 😆
@@JaySwanson lol 😆 thanks
@Jay Swanson looking pretty sexy rocking the beard….always good catching up with you on YT👍
Happy 2024 to you!
Yes, summertime is unbearable sometimes but I prefer it to winter.
I’ve heard there was some Arctic blast which is why it’s so cold. I could be wrong.
Years ago I was in Rome, and had the bracelet tied around my wrist by some guy, I never heard of this trick before.
I said I had no cash (really didn’t) and then he demanded to look in my purse!!
Seriously just walk by or completely ignore. Not worth the hassle at all!! 🤨
Yikes! Yeah sometimes they can get pretty rough - glad you're ok!
@@JaySwanson oh yeah all good, my son was much younger so it surprised him!! But he knows now to avoid!!! He can spot one from a mile off now!!
Quote of the Day: “I’m classically committed to saying classic.”
at 04:28 pretty much the only place I yelled at someone in French - but they still replied en anglais LOL and I saw someone pull a gun on someone where you were standing in front of the funicular last time I was there :( - I speed walked away
WHAT?! I hope everything ended up ok...
@@JaySwanson I mean, I booked it up the street, but I hope it was ok - I got the impression he was defending himself, rather than assaulting someone, but still it was shocking to see a someone pull on someone
Ça me manque steak frites !
Ariana has a great laugh:)
She's a lot of fun
So. Is the T-Shirt photo shoot for your Paris site characters peeking out of your pocket as well as on your coffee mug?
You'll find out soon! ;)
Nice to see you being charged by the AAA battery 🔋
