This lecture by G.M. Tamás was the opening of an international conference at the Institute for Human Sciences (IWM), which dealt with the themes of solidarity and with the victims of the First World War. The two-day conference was part of the ERC-Project "GRAPH - The Great War and Modern Philosophy" at the University Leuven and of the IWM research project "Re-thinking Europe in a Post-European Age", led by IWM Permanent Fellow Ludger Hagedorn.
