Shane never actually came as close as now, I mean sure he'd regularly put out great footage but everyone else in those years before were just better. I don't even think shane was ever a candidate
+Ira in those years, he had the best style i ever seen though. it wasn't robotic yet. he wasn't really pushing skating or doing anything that hadn't been done though. his style alone could've won a SOTY then.
