Saudi Arabia's agricultural development over the last three decades has been astonishing. The vast desert area has turned into agricultural fields. a major achievement in a country that receives an average of about four inches of rain per year, one of the lowest levels in the world.
Saudi Arabia is a desert country whose wealth skyrocketed due to the discovery of oil. billions of dollars of its oil profits are used to power many parts of the economy and the lives of its citizens. one of which is to import more than 80% of its food supply.
only about 1.5% of Saudi Arabia's land area is arable, and state-owned agriculture eventually takes over 80% of its precious water supply.
