I was looking into the comp sci degree at WGU, I wanted to ask, are there any third party certs required? It shows it'll and CompTIA but I wasn't clear if those were optional or required

Coming back to this to update my Github but I had no idea you lived in WA. That's awesome lol. I lived in Seattle, Kent, and Auburn pretty much from 2003 - 2022. I worked at Amazon's corporate SOC team as a vendor downtown at one of their campuses.

I saw some people were having issues uploading an image via imgur to Github. I resolved my issue by changing my README file from txt to md. My pictures showed up after the change.

I think you should first make a github just because its easier and takes less time. When you have free time, you can work on your main website over time. That's what I am doing :)
I’ve been doing this with all the A Cloud Guru labs in the AZ-104 course. Going to also do it with my Cloud Resume Challenge. Definitely going to try and get a cloud job off of this.
@@BJMolette I've completed all the labs (all documented in GitHub) and just literally completed the Cloud Resume Challenge. I haven't been applying to cloud jobs though. I wanted to finish up my Sec+ (got that in July) and my CCNP (passed the ENCOR. studying for the specialty exam). Once I'm done with the CCNP, I'm going to be all in on cloud! I needed to take that detour because I'm a network engineer right now so I'm just tying up all the loose ends and getting better at my daily tasks before I say good bye to networking lol.

If I understand the question, I believe you just have to name that repository the same name as your actually profile name. For example, if my github profile is github.com/joshmadakor, i have to name "Special" repository "joshmadakor"
Hey! You should absolutely start your portfolio. You will probably do all sorts of projects during your academic career. It's a good idea to start keeping track of some of them here for future job hunts :)

Hey Josh, do you think SANS technology institute bachelors is worth it for the price? I’m thinking of getting a simple bachelors from WGU and then going for it. Thoughts?
I have a really long complicated answer in my head, but if it's SOLELY for the sake of getting a bachelor's degree, there are way more economical ways of getting a degree. Consider my CS, IT, and MS Cyber degrees cost less than 15k in total, I'm going to have a hard time justifying a single undergrad degree approaching that number. BUT! my circumstance is way different and the reasons for getting the degrees may have been different. For example, maybe you don't JUST want a degree, maybe you want one specifically from SANS, or maybe you want access to the SANS network or (any other reason), maybe it's worth it! Sorry for the wishy washy answer, but this what came to mind. I also don't really know much about SANS, other than they are quality/expensive, so keep that in mind :)
Hi, question when setting this up. I can create the same repository but I can only see it when i preview it. but if i go to my home page its not displayed there like yours is. It just shows my picture and the repository that i created. Its not actually showing the info on my homepage. I click on the repository and then I can see the preview. So I decided to go into cyber security but after spending time learning and projects I kind of want to go back to software development. Is that a good idea or am I to deep inside it?
Hey Innovate. This is just my opinion, but I don't think you can ever be "too deep" to switch. Look at me, I bounced from IT, to Security, and now into a bit of development. There is so much overlap that it' snot really a big deal to switch between different areas of tech. Your experience in other areas will make you stronger overall, I believe. So if you feel like you want to switch, I would just do it as long as you're financially OK!
@@JoshMadakor I have money saved up currently, but I wanted to switch my degree from cyber security to software development from wgu. Is that also a good idea in your opinion? The college will call me on Wednesday to get my official answer on that area.

Github Might have updated itself. But now, I think you can paste images directly into GitHub. For example, if you take screenshot of part of your screen/copy it, you can paste it directly into the code portion in GitHub
I know this is an old comment but I had the same issue and resolved it myself. My read me was .txt instead of .md Once I changed that I was able to upload images.
