What makes some of these dunks so rare or so expensive? Are they limited, cuz I’m just confused. When I was younger we had eBay, and we could just buy whatever color we wanted. Are some of these shoes made with better leather? What makes one pair go for $1000 and another pair $120?

Things that drive up value: rarity, collaborations and hype. If it's a limited release for a great colour way it'll sell out on the day and then people will grit their teeth and potentially pay resale. If the demand is way above the inventory the resale will only grow. Collaborations with brands, athletes or people will always be more desirable to people. Look at the Jarritos SB this year, it's a great shoe yes but were it not for tie in the demand for the pair would be less. And hype... not always as easy to predict but blogs, insta/tiktok influencers and RUclipsrs can also drive up value on a shoe. If all your favourites with high subcribers/follower counts are telling you it's a great shoe and it's being featured in fashion edits etc then people will jump on the train because they've had the message re-inforced multiple times. The secret to buying shoes if you just want something to wear is... buy what you like and feel comfortable in :)

Theyre limited, for one it's a good looking shoe that many people want, not just sneakerheads that like the colorway (including me who owns a pair even though I'm a Giants fan), but also fans of the dodgers, which is a very popular team. so demand is high
And then you have the fact that the only place you can buy these is at specific skateboard shops, so the demand is high and the quantity is lower than demand

These shoes are made in the same factory. Once everyone goes home for the day 2 or 3 guys, stay back and crank up the machines in pump out 2 or 300 extra pairs of Each night. Unless the Americans are in town. Lol. 😉
