I chartered a trip with Cal and Wes last year, got a taste of leadcore trolling. I have since acquired a couple of Cal's leadcore rigs from the FHS store and have been crushing the troll. So easy, so fast to deploy! Hybrid leadcore rig - old style made new. Thanks, Cal!
That is awesome!
Thanks for this Cal. Some of us have picked up over the years what these different technologies in tackle are, but have never gotten a full lesson on the details like what the different colors on leadcore are for. Great stuff.
Right on
Good job there Cal
Hey thanks for the explanation! I have a question. Can you use this line in other ways besides trolling like casting? I hear carp fishing uses it with line that has a seaweed lining to have it blend in the environment.
This was good info. Thanks Cal! Just want to add that I was one who had no idea there was such a thing as lead core line. Now I’m thinking of using it from my kayak to get deeper instead of goofing around with weights and divers. I still have a lot to learn though.
Awesome!!
Have a nice weekend Cal
Thanks for the visit
Wow! Very well explained. Thanks. I have been mostly targeting Bass. Do you think I could utilize some of my Bass fishing combos to try this out? Would all of the line fit on a standard bait casting reel? If I buy another combo I may end up sleeping in the garage!!
Hahaha but in garage you’d be close to your gear!
Well done 🎣🎣🎣🎣
Thanks 👍
Is there a way to get down to 50-60 feet without a down rigger?
Easiest way is with a dipsy diver. They will push 80' depth at med-slow speeds. To get down that far with leadcore, you would have a very, very long setback and 10+ colors of lead.
@@FHSTackle Thanks, witch of your rods would you recommend with the diver?
I put out 5 colors well behind the boat, with a 50' 8lb leader, and a deep diving crankbait, and I can bounce bottom in 50' at 1.5mph. So, with say 7 colors completely in the water, and a deep crankbait, 60' is doable. I know a guy who trolls slowly for lake trout, and with 10 colors in the water, he gets his lures down close to 100'!
Hardcore Leadcore
Yes!
