i bought my tyros 4 black edition in 2012 and i still enjoy it every day. There are only 2500 made worldwide and I am one of the proud owners. I will never sell it.

Me also. Absolutely love mine. The limited edition run doesn't stop there being loads of them available for sale, strangely. Mine was a used model, actually. If I ever lose the included expansion data I'll never get it back because Yamaha's stupid DRM means I don't have the login details registered with my machine by the previous owner.

That on board subwoofer will really come in handy for organ pedal tones! You will really be able to feel the 32 foot, 64 foot and maybe even 128 foot bass notes through this! Also, what is quite unique about this whole series of keyboards is the stand up satellite speakers (most boards have them built in flat) and there ate a lot of keyboards lacking their own speakers (or amplifiers for that matter)! (Such as stage pianos and organs)! Just ask Dan "Fingers" Radowitz at the Oakland-Alameda County Colosseum for he plays a Tyros because they were too cheap to install a real ballpark organ over there (how ironic since these boards cost $5300 for the 61 key model and as much as $6800 for the 76 key Tyros 5 that hit the market in 2013)?

Thanks for your additional info. What I actually tried to say was that a combination of "PSS" and "Portatone" simply doesn't exist because "Portatone" is a term used for the "PSR" series of keyboards. Of course there has been the "PS" series in the early 80's...but that's another story. Back then there were "PS" PortaSound keyboards (PS-200, PS-400 etc.) as well as "PS" Portatone keyboards (PS-55, PS-6100 etc.). Very confusing...but fortunately there are keyboard maniacs like you and me! :-)

Don't blame the machine for the fault of the player. I love arranger workstations: they're very inspirational and make great compositional aids. I wouldn't be a bit ashamed to take one of these on stage, if I could actually afford it. Pair this with a Korg Kronos or a Music Computing StudioBLADE and you wouldn't need another keyboard for a very long time. Nice demo, btw!

and another point to make is, this is an arranger keyboard - not a synthesizer; not a performer-oriented keyboard, not a digital piano. each kind of keyboard is catered to different kinds of keyboardists/pianists who have different requirements. (or course, these days, keyboards are becoming more versatile - taking on the functions of different kinds of keyboards) the focus of an arranger keyboard is not on emulating real acoustic piano keys.

Waw what a jolly interesting prezentation, it made me dance😄. Thank you for sharing this instrument's cualities and what it can do. Let me ask you is it imperative to have a sustain pedal? I never had to use it before and I am a bit nervous of using it... Would I be able to get away with or it will have to be introduced gradually. I am a very humble self taught ear player and I don't or rather can't play too fast, just gentle little songs. Thank you for your time, wonderful and Happy Birthday Tyros☺👏👍.

thinking nearer to my birthday I could get the Tyros 5 if the black Tyros 4 sells out or maybe the Tyros 5 would be better
because it's not only newer but also avalible with 76 keys. However sadly my plans for buying the Tyros 5 were ruined
because I resigned with imediate effect and have been unemployed ever since. But I didn't really need a Tyros 4 or 5

Get your fact's straight. This is also the 10th anniversary of the Motif ! The Motif and Tyros were developed together using the same DSP and AWM2 processing, same DAC's , same operating system, same engineers, same sounds and the Motif was shown at Winter NAMM in 2001 while the Tyros wasn't released until Summer 2002. Neither are Synth's both are Romplers. If you open up a Tyros 4 and a Motif XF 6 you will find the same parts and waveforms. Only the case and GUI are different.

I have since come to the conclusion that as Tyros is an arranger keyboard is it only intended for one man band and not a
tool for music production. As I have Halion 7 and that works I plan to stick with using that as in reality it is far more superior
to even a Genos or PA-5X because Halion is intended for music production ( many professionals use Halion actually! ). But
with an arranger keyboard the sounds are more optimized for playing live rather than for studio use. If you want a keyboard
suitable for music production then go for a synth/workstation type of keyboard like Motif, Fantom or Montage.
Somebody else on RUclips learned the hard way thinking that a Genos would be the ideal all in one solution for muic
production but it was very expensive mistake to make and he was stuck with the Genos kicking around for 2 years before
somebody finally bought it and he got most of his money back! He then went down the root of buying a Native Instruments
midi keyboard with a Komplete bundle which is also one of the best options for music production.
But don't buy an arranger keyboard unless you need auto accompaniments to back you up. It's now obvious why workstations
don't have auto accompaniments! It turns out I was never actually serious about buying a Tyros 4 or 5 in the first place!
