- Recording drums with 1 microphone! I get asked about this A LOT!! So I thought it was time for some new videos on this topic. I'll cover a few different mic placements in the context of music as well as EQ tricks and using compression.

Nice playing too...
Thank you!
I had to do a lot of this when I was a teenager 1 mic, two mics. Nice work
Thank you! Sometimes it's fun to work with less and see what you can come up with.
killer content, as usual...
As always a great video!!!

Nice! I love videos like this. This paiste cymbals always sound great. Maybe next time some video how to mix sound of the cymbals
Paiste rules! I'll try to add some ideas on mixing cymbals in future vids. It's hard with 1 mic because what is good for one sound source is bad for another. Thanks for watching!!
Yes.
Sounds great with the one mic. How would you go about getting a stereo spread on the kit with one mic? Would you introduce a second room mic and pan them each a little bit left and right?
Probá split eq para realzar los trancient separado de el tono en cada elemento de la batería
What audio interface are you using?
In the B section @ 8:20, Can you boost the snare but automate in some distortion/saturation to tuck the ride cymbal back in a bit?
That could possibly work. A multi-band saturation plugin (like Sugar?) or hardware (like the Drawmer 1976) might do the trick. Something like that could be cool on the entire signal too....if done right. This is obviously only 1 way of doing it and I was trying to keep it simple to start. Maybe once I get through a few of these I'll do one video with as many different ways to do this as possible?
@@Ultimatestudiosinc If you want to make more videos, I'm down lol. I love your content. As far as the distortion trick; I will use a bit of saturation on my mono mics when a drummer gets too heavy on the ride and the bell. If the bell gets out of hand a little saturation makes it useable again for the most part.
