  • Shkodra is a place we wanted to get to know better. Besides, Carnival is celebrated here and we are excited to attend. From authentic markets, to delicious traditional Albanian food, to a bustling unique city center and the Carnival activities, we are in the right place at the right time. This is our first impression of Albania.
    Cheers

I noticed that some businesses, like the car rental building, has English written on it. That alone would give me comfort, thinking of
home. It was so interesting to see the market. Looked like you could find anything you wanted.
Snow and Curt, the food you order always looks so yummy. Thanks, once again, for a wonderful video! 🌷

I just had a good laugh at the end. Today my granddaughter turns 15, so I took her out yesterday. We ended up in a coffee shop talking about people in general and why some are falling apart and others are not. I told her about the positive attitudes both Snow and Curt have and how positive outcomes seem to follow them. So, today, you manage to show a section of an Albanian city, with their markets and wonderful foods. And as you wind down, it
starts to sprinkle. Just as you make it to the van the downpour hits. And I thought, even the weather cooperates with them! Thanks guys. Great video. ❤

Communism in Albania after World War II had a profound impact on religious life. The communist regime, led by Enver Hoxha, declared Albania the world’s first atheist state in 1967, banning all religious practices and persecuting religious leaders. This period effectively suppressed religious identity and conflict but at a great cost to cultural and religious heritage.
After the fall of communism in the early 1990s, Albania experienced a revival of religious life and freedom. Today, Albania is known for its religious tolerance, with Islam, Orthodox Christianity, and Roman Catholicism being the main religions. Despite historical conflicts, the Albanian people have generally lived in harmony, with interfaith tolerance being a notable aspect of Albanian society.
This overview simplifies centuries of history and the intricate dynamics of religious and cultural shifts. Each period has its own complexities and deserves a closer look to fully understand the impacts and nuances of religious change in Albania.

Many years ago on one of my many visits Rome & Italy I met some Albanians. They told me why they left Albania seeking a better life. They told me about horrible things, terrible illegal drug & gang issues etc and how people were so poor. I have been terrified of Albania ever since because of the things they told me and because of the previous communist ruler. It seems to be such a lovely country. I’m definitely going to visit Albania now. Thank you for sharing your journey. Wishing you safe travels.🙏💝

I’ve been enjoying your journey since Mexico & have recommended your channel often. Don’t take this too personally- but I think I have a suggestion to help- Can you use the adjective “little” a little less? Everything is little- Little town, little beach, little church, little square, little market, etc. sorry if I offend you- even if a “little”

    • @LovingAtlanta
      @LovingAtlanta 6 месяцев назад +1

@tuddyoly4827 - 👍💡That’s called the Baader-Meinhof phenomenon, also called the frequency illusion. It is a cognitive bias that affects how we think and process information. It's a phenomenon where something you focus on seems to appear everywhere, making it feel like it's more common or frequent than it actually is.
😂I’m cracking up because the first time I watched the video I didn’t really recall hearing the word “little”. I read your comment and rewatched the video and I feel like I heard the word “little” in every sentence. 😂

After getting excited about another video, I was a little "disappointed". When you were in Belgium, you learned the fries are "Belgian Fries" and not "French Fries". Curt you vowed to start calling them by their proper "Belgian Fries" name. I heard you say, "French Fries😮" 😂 That food looks amazing and I always look forward to your adventures.
I mentioned in a long past video, and not sure if you were able to read it, but, when you get to Germany in a few months to years, can I make a request visit? My last name is Steigerwalt, and there is a naturpark in southern Germany between Nuremberg and Wurzberg called Naturpark Steigerwald. I believe my ancestors are from that area. Could you visit and at least find a sign and take a picture?
Also, as a suggestion, in Hamburg is the largest model train layout in the world. "Miniatur Wunderland"

Are your videos up to date? If so, you are traveling during the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan. Fasting Muslims do not eat or drink anything between sunrise and sunset. The fast is only broken after sunset, usually with the whole family. Lent ends with the Sugar Festival (that's what the Germans of Turkish origin call it) - similar to Christmas for us Christians, with gifts for children, donations, etc. Have a good time in Albania & Europe.

It's interesting to me what diverse viewpoints people can have. I find Snow and Curt to be humble people, overflowing with gratitude. They would be among the very last people that I would ever accuse of being entitled in their attitudes. Furthermore, as I understand their background, they both worked hard at their jobs, and sold their home and belongings in preparation for their world travels. They don't have the sponsors that many channels have and are now putting in many hours a week to produce excellent quality content for our enjoyment. As a subscriber, I am grateful to have the opportunity to view what they generously share with us. I feel privileged, and certainly don't feel entitled to continuous thanks. But, to each his own.
