    "Merit" of women in Clarissa's speech means acceptance of whatever men say! She wants women not just to be beautiful but also humble to men!

    Thank you very much for the lecture. An opinion (Plz comment if valid or not Ma'am)- can it also be called satire that - all that happened, which was described by Pope, in the end yielded nothing, as neither Belinda's Lock of hair was retrieved neither did it further affect the lives of individuals in the poem, this can be said because if something grave would have happened the poem might have been extended or it must have found some mention in the letter by Pope to Arabella Fermor, thus depicting that all that fuss was about such a trivial matter that does not affect anyone meaningfully in any way.
