The next hunger games book after ballad of songbirds and snakes is called sunrise on the reaping and is coming out in march next yr! It is a prequel following haymitch in the 50th hunger games! I think you should reread the hunger games trilogy in February and then read ballad of songbirds and snakes and then end with sunrise on the reaping! I would love to see that!
You should totally read The Hunger Games books this year!! It would be super fun since the new book is coming out in march! I love the series so much and The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is so good. Although if you do read the Percy Jackson series i may have to read it with you because that premise sounds so cool!!
I read Crime and Punishment last year and really liked it! My favorite by Dostoevsky is The Brothers Karamazov. One thing I´ll say about Crime and Punishment is be prepared to read a lot about side characters. It´s a common theme in Russian classics to spend chapters on their background. It was a difficult read for me because it´s more psychological instead of action based. Definitely take your time!
I’ve been trying to get into Dostoevsky. I read notes from the underground and it was pretty good. Dostoevsky has a talent of writing deep, emotional reads that make me question reality.
My favorite still is Crime and Punishment I love how the side characters all have their own stories and honestly Raskolnikov is my favorite main character ever.
If you decide to read Percy Jackson, you should also go ahead and read the lost hero, which falls right after that series so it’s like really like a 10 book series that you should read if you start Percy Jackson
I know I've commented Murakami support before, but oh my God, he is an amazing writer. One of my top 3 favourite writers of all time. Norwegian Wood is so beautiful. I've read it 3 times, but it's been a few years, and I've been thinking of rereading it in 2025 as well 😊 I really hope you love it. His writing is just lovely. PS: I'd like to do Percy Jackson, because I never read it, so it might be fun for me to read it too! (I was Harry Potter obsessed and I loved your reading vlogs of the series)
@Rescogito I know, but he is of a completely different culture, and his books are translated. He is not at all Western, and the way we frame misogyny/sexism/the way men and women view themselves/each other, may not make much sense in the Japanese culture. I haven't heard much of whether people share this opinion in Japan and obviously I don't know for sure, but I think it's a bit of a double standard to demand that he write according to essentially American standards. I also disagree with this generalisation - I feel that most of his characters, male or female, are two-dimensional, other than the protagonist. It's actually (absurdly) part of his writing style, where everything and everyone don't feel quite real. In Norwegian Wood, I felt both main female characters were far more developed than the main one. I loved the female protagonist in 1Q84. Of course, if reading this style does make you or anyone uncomfortable in general, or as women, then that's, of course, a valid feeling, and a fair one to warn people about. He's a weird writer, and may not work for everyone. I have warned many people about the stuff that might be off-putting. But yeah, I don't think the level of criticism on social media remotely matches reality. I just wanted to offer my view on the matter; I don't at all want to argue or be rude/offensive, so I hope you won't take it that way 🌷
@klatskyn I'm not American and I was raised in an environment where the relation between mam and women were complicated and misogyny is different. I understand the cultural difference, but I do think there are some things that kinda transcend that. Maybe I'm the weird one, but sometimes male two dimensional characters still feel more complete than a female two dimensional characters as if women are one dimensional. Don't worry I don't think you were rude, I actually agree with a few of your points and I think a civil discussion is always well welcomed, it helps generating new ideas and understanding others.
"Crime and Punishment" is actually mainly set in a hot summer in St. Petersberg and if you want a matching atmosphere you might wait a few months 👍 If you want wintry Dostoyevsky in the meantime try his long story "A Disgraceful Affair"
I love her so much because she reads books that are not really popular and it’s very interesting to see books I’ve never seen before and it’s refreshing to not see the same book over and over again ❤
12:12 Girl you better read Crime and Punishment because if you can get through the hard things it's going to be such a good experience. This book is also such a good topic for discussion of human nature, remorse and ethics. It's a book that even if it's not your cup of tea you can't deny how well it is written.
My -Dostoevsky loving-brother learns Russian with the ambition to read Dostoevsky in the original form but his teacher says he is too ambitious and its really hard to happen😁😁
I haven’t read a Percy Jackson book in so long. I read and own the first four but that’s it. I haven’t read one since and I don’t know why because from what I remember,I liked them. Haven’t even watched the Disney+ series but I’ve seen the movies. Now I need to revisit this series.
READ PERCY JACKSONNNN you will be obsessed and theirs lots of spinoffs idk if you’ve read them yet but their just so so good and if you haven’t already u should watch the show their making the second season rn❤
I am going to be finishing the last book in the ACOTAR series this week. Next year I want to read the Throne of Glass series, the Bone Season series, Yellowface, Priory of the Orange Tree, Anna Karenina, and a handful of T. Kingfisher's books.
Excited to see how you like Murakami, the time in my life when I was reading his books back to back was very formative for me. They can be wildly problematic and wildly progressive in odd ways. My Spotify wrapped for that year was all Beatles which was no doubt caused by the books as well!
see, I’ve never read Percy Jackson and it sounds like my kind of book. Also Song Of Achilles and Circe 😅 my poor tbr. And I just ordered Dark Matter and Recursion by Blake Couch, lol. Also want to read more classics next year. I think I will start with Dorian Gray
im ECSTATIC. i cant wait for you to reread the percy jackson series!! i have 2 more in that series to finish and i cant wait!! hope we'll have a fun time reading it!!
When you read magnolia, please read the second one before you decide if you want to keep going. It is just a truly unique structure! Ps. Yes you’re on the money with the deeper look past the romance 🥰
Norwegian Wood was so, so dull to me that I dnfed with ten pages to go because i realised that i didn't hate myself enough to carry on reading it 😂 Kafka on the Shore is one of the fave books though! But it's veeery messed up, trigger warnings galore. I hope you enjoy Norwegian Wood more than i did! I do seem to be in the minority so your chances are high haha
Hey Friend, Happy Sunday. I just love your energy and your videos. I am glad that you finally figured out the formula of why you rated a book 1 or 2 stars. 😅😊 I watched the first hungry game movie and I loved it. I love how she volunteers to go in her sister’s place, pure sister bond. 😊🥰🎅🎄❄️☃️
Ahh Magnolia Parks! I had to take a break after the third book. I was shattered but it definitely teaches you love and lost and finding your way through the hard times
If I haven't ever been persuaded to read more Emily Henry, I have been now! will be putting funny story (the audiobook right?) on my TBR list for 2025. I read 'people we meet on vacation' this year and enjoyed it! but it seems like funny story might be even better
I BEG you to read the chaos walking trilogy! It's so underrated and it's one of my favorites of all tiiiime. story is really unique, captivating and fast paced, and it also has my absolute favorite endearing romance/bond sub plot I've ever read. I absolutely adore it❤
LISA SEE!!! She’s (one of) my favorite authors!! I have a good time with all her books!! Almost all her books are centered around women and Chinese history/culture and ITS GREAT!! I hope you like her books too!! ❤
Please do Percy Jackson!! I’ve been wanting to get into making RUclips videos and one of the videos I want to do is rereading my childhood favorites. The Percy Jackson series is one of those and I would love to see how it goes for you!!
Reading Murakami is not for the weak!! He’s a good writer the way he enthralls you in a story is beautiful but the way he degrades women and has such huge age difference for the characters romantic interests can sometimes be unbearable to read. Currently reading 1Q84 it’s good I will be taking a break from his work after I finish though.
It’s sum abt the whole Percy Jackson & Mythology series Rick Riordan has written. I have read his books in middle school and I plan to read them all over again at 19. Definitely one of my favorite authors!!
I personally vote for the percy jackson series! but just in case you dont know a new hunger games book comes out early next year (i believe in march) about haymitch's story/games!!
Girl, we could read magnolia parks together. It’s been sitting on my shelf forever.. I think I’m so nervous to read it because I’ve heard a lot of people compare it to gossip girl and I grew up reading gossip girl so I think I have very high expectations for this book series
I loved Dark Matter but I highly suggest reading it all together hopefully in one sitting and paying attention to every word its not the kind of book that you can skim over lines. I gave that book a high rating and I still think about it often!
if you’re rereading percy jackson, then try reading more of rick riordan’s series! i loved the red pyramid and magnus chase series in middle school and i loved rereading them this year!
I can vouch for Circeeeee it’s beautiful but also be aware the plot is not as grand as the synopsis you gave for it which isn’t quite accurate but I hope you love it all the same, the writing is amazing
I loved Funny Story so of course her next book is on my list for 2025. I also need to finish TOG by Sarah Maas, but I am waiting for the Onyx Storm by Rebecca Yarros. You do need to read Magnolia Parks. I still have the last two books to finish. It’s amazing.
I tried to read Magnolia parks but the way the characters spoke and even their pov gave me a huge ick. I just couldn't get past the way random brand names were dropped throughout the entire one chapter i forced myself to read😭. It's definitely not fair to judge a book by their first chapter but it felt impossible for me to finish the book let alone a whole series.
I read Song of Achilles last year and I've decided to pass on more Madeline Miller simply because the originals/classics are better stories. The Iliad is a tough read, but it's really worth the struggle. I guess this is my epic poetry era.
Here's my picks for 2025 Anna karenina Column of fire by ken follett Cher part 1 memoir Who's that girl eve memoir Never flinch by Stephen king Ernest Hemingway books Keeping 13 by chloe Walsh Please read the hunger games series
I wanna read crime and punishment too ! But i just wanna be in the right headspace first 😂 Please read Hunger games ! I never read the series and i would love to read it with you !❤
Girl I’m gonna read Percy Jackson with you then! I was so excited when you read Harry Potter lol
The next hunger games book after ballad of songbirds and snakes is called sunrise on the reaping and is coming out in march next yr! It is a prequel following haymitch in the 50th hunger games! Oh! I was planning to reread Percy Jackson next year already! I hope we pick PJ!
You should totally read The Hunger Games books this year!! It would be super fun since the new book is coming out in march! I love the series so much and The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is so good. Although if you do read the Percy Jackson series i may have to read it with you because that premise sounds so cool!!
I second this!!
Agreed!!
I agree
You have a great list of non-negotiables! My vote is for the Percy Jackson series.
I read Crime and Punishment last year and really liked it! My favorite by Dostoevsky is The Brothers Karamazov. My favorite still is Crime and Punishment I love how the side characters all have their own stories and honestly Raskolnikov is my favorite main character ever.
The "brother-in-law" character is a complete annoyance to me (as he is to Raskolnikov) but otherwise the book is one of the greatest.
@JohnSeney-t1i I mean that's the point
YEEEEESESEESESESSSSS you must read Percy Jackson nowww🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Sis, you are so right booktok really did me wrong on a lot of hype on some wackie reads
"It is official, we're in a new year" girl, it's only the 23rd, we still got time in the year
His Dark Materials is a very good book series! I was recommended it because I like Harry Potter.
Hey hun. Don’t feel bad I haven’t read Magnolia Parks yet either
If you decide to read Percy Jackson, you should also go ahead and read the lost hero, which falls right after that series so it’s like really like a 10 book series that you should read if you start Percy Jackson
I feel you on not having enough time for all the books! I love how you include such a range of genres here.
I know I've commented Murakami support before, but oh my God, he is an amazing writer. One of my top 3 favourite writers of all time. Norwegian Wood is so beautiful. I’m here to back you up. Murakami is an excellent writer.
He is a good writer but sometimes I can't get past how some of his female characters don't feel like people 😅
@Rescogito I know, but he is of a completely different culture, and his books are translated. "Crime and Punishment" is actually mainly set in a hot summer in St. Petersberg and if you want a matching atmosphere you might wait a few months 👍 If you want wintry Dostoyevsky in the meantime try his long story "A Disgraceful Affair"
It is, but honestly it gives me winter or autumn vibes, probably because pf the dark themes
I love her so much because she reads books that are not really popular and it’s very interesting to see books I’ve never seen before and it’s refreshing to not see the same book over and over again ❤
All the books she mentioned are popular books 😅
Two classic series that are awesome: The Indian in the Cupboard books and Artemis Fowl books
Anything written by Lisa See is amazing, I believe you will love Lady Tan 😊
12:12 Girl you better read Crime and Punishment because if you can get through the hard things it's going to be such a good experience. Definitely re-read The Hunger Games! I’m going to try and read the Cassandra Clare books, starting with The City of Bones.
When you read magnolia, please read the second one before you decide if you want to keep going. It is just a truly unique structure! Ps. Yes you’re on the money with the deeper look past the romance 🥰
If you read the first Percy Jackson series then you'll NEED to read the second one Heroes of Olympus!
You need to read PJO!!😁

HUNGER GAMES1000% Because the new book is coming out this year!
You will not regret reading Lady Tans circle of women. Such an interesting read. I still think about it and it’s been months since I’ve read it.
You should totally read crime & punishment
Just found ur channel and absolutely loved ur energy, im subscribing 🫶🏼🤍
It’s sum abt the whole Percy Jackson & Mythology series Rick Riordan has written. I have read his books in middle school and I plan to read them all over again at 19. Definitely one of my favorite authors!!
If you do a hunger games reread you could add the newest book Sunrise on the Reaping which comes out in march

Dark Matter is amazing, I'm right there with you... gotta read Magnolia Parks, Discovery of witches and Percery Jackson
I personally vote for the percy jackson series! but just in case you dont know a new hunger games book comes out early next year (i believe in march) about haymitch's story/games!!

Pls do Percy Jackson❤❤❤❤
You HAVE to read Percy Jackson! There are 2 new books that follow Percy after the original series and are a great continuation of the story!

Ooh if you’re getting into series, I think you’d really like the “City of Bones” series by Cassandra Clare!!
I know one book I definitely wanna read 2025 Is Tuesdays with Morrie. Great video 🫶🏽
I read "crime and punishment" and it's one of my favorite books. I know russian and read it in original, and the language was beautiful ❤
Facts! I keep away from Reese Whitherspoon and booktok. I’m a happier reader bc of it.
which reese witherspoon recs put you off lol i’m curious 😭
I tried to read Magnolia parks but the way the characters spoke and even their pov gave me a huge ick. I just couldn't get past the way random brand names were dropped throughout the entire one chapter i forced myself to read😭. It's definitely not fair to judge a book by their first chapter but it felt impossible for me to finish the book let alone a whole series.
Dark Matter was my top 5 sci-fi read of 2024.
I read Song of Achilles last year and I've decided to pass on more Madeline Miller simply because the originals/classics are better stories. The Iliad is a tough read, but it's really worth the struggle. I guess this is my epic poetry era.
Heyy just a tip, dark matter was an amazing audio book!! so if you don't find the time for the physical book highly recommend the audio one!!
