Got a name for the attachment.. “ Augerator”. Love this kind of stuff. We use custom installations equipment for restaurant pieces, so I get labor savings..😉👍
Don’t know shit about asphalt but damn that looks sweet. Love innovated equipment! Good work!
These guys are definitely gonna have there own asphalt plant in the near future Mark my words!
Speak it into existence! 🗣️
@@AmericanPavement Please alert your viewers of the spambots on your channel and advise them not to answer any give away BS. It's the new scourge on YT, they're using your name and a similar photo. I don't know why YT allows this to go on.
@@genefogarty5395 we’re on it thank you!
@@AmericanPavement No problem. I know you guys are square and would hate to see anybody say otherwise.
I don't understand why they don't have their own plant already.
Bad ass man nothing to say but money in the companys pockets which means money to the man power! 🇺🇸 Baby!!!!
I'm considering getting my CDL and starting a small family business like my buddies father who taught me everything. I'm with big boys now doing a little bit of everything but it screams to me to start my own business. If I ever get enough credit history and cash I really want one of these and if I have to run a truck for a couple years until I can get a skid steer and a leeboy 8000/8500 start doing stuff with a couple guys. That auger attachment is a game changer. Though I think pushing wheel barrows for ten years helped develop my character 😂 Definitely love watching this I wish you guys would come out with more videos!
Dude I nearly shit my pants over that digital dash. I'll have to send you some pictures of one of our Peterbilts at the yard, a former driver flipped it into the woods with a full load!
GREAT JOB- Love The New Equipmeny - From Cary, 39 yr Paving Sales and Roller man, Middletown, NY.
I really enjoy seeing how much pride you take in what you do. And I'm really impressed with the ingenuity of your design. You might be interested in a video published a few months ago on the Essential Craftsman channel on live bottom machines that sling gravel. Different material, but the idea is somewhat related.
Professional
The sidekick. Bc you guys are the heroes
the rear auger, when vertical appears like it is low enough to drag/get damaged when the truck goes through a dip, like entering a parking lot or turning onto side street that is a steep incline. great idea though!! best of luck with it!
Hadn't seen an auger shute except in a concrete truck, but have seen a belted discharge chute on a live floor asphalt truck
Not sure if this would be beneficial but if there was two extra buttons on the remote to signal to the driver instead of having to take your hands off the control to wave them on. One button for forwards will signal the driver and another button for stop. Even if it was led lights flashing by their mirrors in the cab. This would allow the control operator to not need to focus on getting the drivers attention and can keep their hands on the control moving the auger position.
Great idea. Almost like the stop and go lights on the new milling machines. We are going to fit it with cameras but then you have the problem of the driver watching the camera when you need them looking at you!
Awesome idea, and beautiful trucks.
You guys are killing it. As a fellow tradesman, thank you for making content to show what America is made of. Nothing but respect!
Respect is mutual! 🫡
“The back saver” you named it boss
Nice to see these developments in the US, in Europe we already have these systems. But awesome to see!!!!
in addition to other tips/suggestions in the comments, i want to add this one: if you put a steerable axle as the back axle, like the wide spread tandems, or a liftable steering axle we have in Europe, your truck would be even more maneuverable.
Small world. I drove by Trout River Industries while in Prince Edward Island visiting my brother and lots of family this past summer. Great to see Canadian and American businesses working together!!
Love how much pride and care is taken in your equipment. It is shown in your end product. Keep up great work!!
🇺🇸 🇨🇦 🤝
Hey APS! Really good video and business. We have a similar system here in Sweden, tho it has some longer reach etc and you can actually steer/drive the truck from the remote on the outside of the cab.
The system here it’s called “Sprider”
Greetings from Sweden👋
Yeah I was gonna say, Europe has had trucks like this for years, it's not really that new of a thing. All be it the ability to remove it and run the truck just normal might be.
Awesome
Bad ass ! Congrats
That new truck is awesome, and it just spoke for itself on why it has its own place on any jobsite. The company I work with is based out of Illinois and Missouri and is significantly smaller operations than this, but we still have early 90's model international dump trucks that we use every day, and it truly is eye opening seeing these videos about how far the industry has come.
Thank you!
Canadian built! Teamwork makes dream work love when American and Canadian companies team up. North American proud!
I love this guy!!
Sharp smart build and design all ways a better way WOW he could have given me those nice wheel barrows
Name it Peter-belt
Pretty cool. Looks like you took some lessons from the potato farmers. Live bottoms are dynamite. Love it.
Well DONE Boys!!!!!
Looks pretty sweet, I am guessing their is a reason to have the hand controls on the right side, but it almost looks better to have it in the left in case the remote system stopped.
100% to keep in eye contact with the driver and still get work done
@@Grandpuba1069 I get that, the manual hand control were on the right side of the machine,
We have almost the same thing in sweden. Sprider we call them. but they dont have the feeding band in the bottom. :) Would love come to the states and meet you guys! seem like such a great company and nice workers.. and best of all thinkning about the workers!!
look at this video and you see how we have in sweden.. "reco drive" from controlunit on the stomach so you can move the truck and stear the "sprider" where you want to put the asphalt.
ruclips.net/video/b7RS8IqTIKQ/видео.html
Amazing unit! Question do most companies detach that unit and haul with just the truck or do they leave it on and only use it for this application. And how long does it take to detach?
@@AmericanPavementIt takes about maybe ten minutes to detach, then you can use the container/bed and back in to a paver
@@AmericanPavement Yes it really is amazing.
It take around 10-20 minutes to take it of and put it on the next truck bed of asphalt.. you have it on the maintruck first then when you emptied it up you take it off and put it on the next truck bed.
We can get around 30-35tons of asphalt at the same time with us.. i can fnd a picture how it looks without a truckbed.
@@AmericanPavement i.ytimg.com/vi/5JHeJ3kfjc8/maxresdefault.jpg this is how it looks when you have 2 loads of asphalt with you..
How about calling them Paveinator? Maybe come up with a front discharge system like the ready mix trucks. A skilled driver can make the job much easier.
Nice trucks you got there. We have had similar in Sweden for many years. But a linked auger. And the whole truck can be moved back and forth remotely.
Take a look here how we do it in Sweden. Volvo truck. No belt thou. ruclips.net/video/9DB5-BZH9GQ/видео.html
Amazing piece of equipment. Have you thought about putting a camera on the tail of the truck for the driver operation?
Yes cameras and more lights are next!
wow
Awesome design! You could potentially solve the auger reach issue with a secondary auger that folds up to still keep the machine compact. Similar to a grain auger system. Then the truck could park on the road and you would have reach and maneuverability in the auger to reach the far out spots.
Good tip! Thank you!
Not to be a partypooper or anything, but that kind of equipment have been available for years, espescially in Norway and Sweden😅 The "arm" we call Sprider, it’s a company from Sweden that makes them. And the belt driven feeder we call "Redriver". Not to take anything away from you guys, cause this is awesome
Same in uk
And Denmark
I think you’re on the right road I would like to see a similar setup with the auger but with the mix heated if needed be
Congratulations, you’ve been chosen as a winner of my give-away,hit me up on tele-gram for package!!
I'm very impressed at how you want to share your knowledge and your experience a lot of people would just keep it to themselves you have a very awesome family I just started watching you and I'm very impressed how old school you are and trying to take the new stuff into it I run a motivator for the last 40 years and very impressed how you lay asphalt not many people where I work at do the job as you do you should be very proud of yourself keep up the good work and the nice videos thank you so much 🇺🇸🚜
Great comment bro, definitely well deserved! As a fellow tradesman myself, I fully agree with everything you wrote. However, it sure would've been ALOT easier/quicker to read if it just had some punctuation. Or ANY punctuation, for that matter. I'm not trying to sound like a dick here bro, but there were 9 separate sentences in that paragraph & not a single period telling people where one sentence ends, and the next one begins! Again, I'm not trying to come across as a jerk, I apologize if you took it that way...I only wanted to point it out so that it might help you somehow in the future. Take care & good luck
Great set-up would hard face the auger for longer life and for final clean out we ball up rags and old vest run thru auger cleans right out even used slices of hay bails
I worked for APS years ago, and where they are now, it blows me away. Billy always used to say learn something new every day, and when you think you know it all, it's time to get out of paving asphalt. Good work and knowledge, and keep an open mind to learn. Gets you where you want to be, and my self, known Billy and his family he's built an empire and is still growing. I've been blessed knowing Billy 24 years, including his family. Big shout out to APS/ Raised On Blacktop Brand for an awesome 2023 season!!!.. much love and respect to yall!!!..
The truck is bad to the bone! I would have one suggestion to help the driver is maybe a camera mounted center of tail gate.
Use hydrolics and save the Ballixs LMAO!!
😂😂😂
As someone in the asphalt paving & grading business. This is excellent, increase production & decrease manpower! I’m sure it’s a chunk to bite off money wise, but will pay off quicker than other investment.
I would call that thing a sugar shoot
I agree with all of the good comments, but I would never throw a perfectly good wheel barrel away just because it has a bad tire, that said I definitely Subscribed to this channel 😉
😂 it’s back in the garage! Thanks for subscribing
@@AmericanPavement Thanks for posting these cool 😎 videos.
Amazing it’s nice , keep you two wheeled wheel barrels you going g to need them lolololllll ❤ praise Jesus Christ grace amen amen grace amen 🙏 thanks BigAl California
Nice rigs!! Tell these millenials it’s ok to learn a trade !!
Nothing new here. Tilcon and O&G have had this technology for over 20 years and it has existed in Europe for close to 40 years.
Yes but those units don’t allow for regular asphalt paving. By being able to remove the belt we can use this truck every day! Tilcon and O&G can’t!
I personally think the name of it should be the A.P.S TR Live Unloader 240. The 240 references the 2 years in the making this product and the 40 is because of how long you have been doing this.
Awesome truck, but theyve had those asphault augers in europe for a few years.
I’m build 2 of these trucks 🛻 now .
Sweet looking truck had a thought how would blowing hot top out of a truck like they do with bark mulch would work?
Hey!
Maybe add a hydrostatic drive to remove the driver and only have one person operating the truck, add a second auger on a joint to enable further reach and less truck maneuvering.
Basically making it the American version of the Swedish "Sprider M-25"!
Video of the "Sprider M-25": ruclips.net/video/KKVEuyKm2po/видео.html&
I paved for 37 seasons, 12 in my own business. You are a good man, your comments at the end of this video makes you a man of means. Mean what you say, say what you mean. For me it was always about ease of operation, making it better for the men and job quality. Also it was always about letting the people know thier worth, that we aren't unskilled labor. People just don't know what it takes to make blacktop look like that. the truck is a work of art, if only we had that as young men in the trade
I work in the structure building sector (Bridges & Box Culverts) and I've seen the asphalt boys do some brutal shit.. this would make their lives 100x easier
That would work great for filling berm machines and smaller sidewalk pavers and dont get the mess of crumbs coming from shutes of the truck falling on road thats great invention
Make it double fold, Ideally when folded the extsention would be behind, or under the existing auger. Look at grain wagon augers for inspiration. Would add 6 ish feet of reach. I lay asphalt in Indiana so the Live bottom isnt a thing here wish it was cause one of these would be SWEET!!!
Awesome to see an idea come to fruition! They seem to have done a top notch build, not a cobbled together piece.
Congrats!
Sweet rig! I think a good feature would be extending the auger in and out so if you need to get a tight corner you don’t need to reposition the truck or throw with a shovel.
Maybe the 2.0 model will have an upgrade for that! Thank you for your comment!
more videos please.....especially with your job sites, equipment maintenance, business tips from the old man. Keep them coming boys!
The hydraulic disconnect is patterned after the corn and bean head hydraulics used in ag, ie John Deere.
Very important to keep the hydraulic connections free of contaminants.
Looks like a very functional and well designed system.
FASTER Couplings is the company that makes them
Nice truck great video
Barry from Trout River did he go to MIT because he'll tell you it's a genius invention I know you had something to do with it but I don't think you went to MIT LOL brilliant job
Love your channel
Love the new truck
I collect company hats.
What kinda cost did the boss wear in the shop when you did the walk around
Cool to see this in US now. We have done this type in Sweden for many years and its awesome!
He talks like he is the first person in the world to think of this thing but I know these have been used in Sweden for years, it's nothing new..
Yeah, but the idea is cool. Someone has to be the first to do it. It looks cool😊
@@CJA150179he's the first in america.
Bro if you did a daily work vlog you would be making a killing on RUclips. Very nice equipment do good work and teaching everyone! Can't beat you guys need more content!!!!
I love the intensity and passion of these 3 guys, especially the father. You need that to change an industry and that's what they are doing.
That's awesome! You guys have an amazing fleet and take good pride in your business. I'm definitely going to be enquiring with trout river that would make are job so much easier and the nice part is that with trout river I can convert that into a salt spreader for the winter.
💪💪💪💪
Why no~one thought of this before... I'm trying to figure out how to do a telescoping 14 ft(?) chute which would add that much more versatility. My congratulations to your ingenuity.
Rev. Kim Partlow
Better get a charger on those batteries. Voltage seems awfully low at 12.1
I’d like to call that thing the flavor saver it’s so sweet you want to savor the flavor baby
Looking at the open auger, there is a lot of buildup stuck under the screw and sidewalls for what little the unit has been operated. The screw better be quick and easy to pull out because it's going build up very quickly. What are you using as "degreaser" ? Is that straight diesel fuel? What is the load rating and how many cubic feet are lost than a normal box designed end-dump. With a reduced box size, won't that mean more loads being hauled and in turn, a longer day for the entire crew and plant operator(s)?
Australia has some like this
We also got a auger system version to. They are awesome. I love watching machines at work
Not in the industry, but your innovative piece of equipment was definitely interesting and seems like a game changer. Only thing that I can see to make it even more useful, would be an extension for the end of the auger to give you 5 to 10 more feet of reach. Even a metal slide that hooked on similar to concrete trucks might work. Beautiful rig!
I could get SO MUCH done in a day with 1 of these! And that's as a local city guy! Just think how much you could do as a private guy and how much $$$ you'd make!
Awesome piece of equipment. Couple thoughts; how about look at some of the wrecker (heavy duty tow truck) pin on equipment maybe a tag axle for further capacity, a solid pin design easier to connect into a plate on the truck body, if you are using the auger for a primary stage how about a secondary extendable stage that is belt driven (lighter and not as heavy since you already augmented the material) for greater material spread without moving the truck. Possibly more integrated control from the ground versus driver for PTO / Body & Aux paving accessory......Name BTBS203.1 (Black Top Bill Stanley).....nice work from a great group of guys!!
I am so excited to see this new truck. I drive 1997 t880 kenworth , and we do alot of paving.
That’s awesome man. A lot of old timers don’t get it when you invest and invent machinery to make the job easier it becomes more efficient and less guys needed. You’ll make more profit and have less payroll.
Hi my name is Joe I live in Canada we have a truck called the stone slinger that has an arm on the side that sits on the passenger side almost to the level of the frame that comes out depending on how long the boxes could be 16 to 20 feet long it is on a belt, but you probably could converted it into a auger and use it for asphalt to look good nice 👍🏼
Just found your channel, subscribed... already my favorite channel.
As with auto production, a lot of ideas come from backyard customizers. This is a prime example of ideas from "them that's doing". I seen the trucks in the shop tour and thought how sharp they looked. You may want to park #2 in the living room, just so you can look and say "this is our idea", I can't believe we did this" perfect example of spending a buck to make a buck. Reinvest into your company. Make it grow. A life's work your sons will be proud to carry on. Thanks for the intro to the new addition of tools you use everyday.
Put a degreaser sprayer on the back so when ur done the trucker can spray it out
i think you could change the clean out assembly on bottom some sort of sliding gate , also is bed heated and could it be ? (maybe on sides ) also really great vision and craftsmanship by you and trout run good stuff
The trout rivers that I ran weren't heated, I'm sure they could be by piping the truck exhaust thru like they do with some slinger and dump bodys. But the bodys are so well insulated, we would be on a Dot job sitting for 6-8 hours with a load doing patches with base and it was coming out just as hot as it went in!
I Sent this video to my foreman of my smaller crew , before I finished the video I told him you would need 2 in order to make it useful . I continued watching and bam there's the 2nd one and you said exactly what I said . I'm very curious how much this cost for the full build ?
That thing is awesome
I think adding in load cell or inline air pressure monitors on the rear bags would allow you to know what tonnage you have left on board and when you start. Takes the guess work out of knowing or thinking you know what's loaded or left on the truck
Agreed!!! Hard to tell what’s in the truck without the body raised in the air. We discussed this the other day. Most likely going to add them to this unit this winter!
lmao this is almost shot like a rap video but for badass industry.
Good job
revolutionary idea. This is going to change the north American industry overnight, And its Canadian. Wouldn't be the first time we have revolutionized the road and highway construction industry.
Amazing machines, much like a metered concrete truck. Good to see a veteran business owner and craftsman such as yourself, giving back to the trades. We need more like you to take them to the next level.
I think you could put that bed on a cabover style truck and have even more mobility than that long nose conventional
Next you need a truck to go back to the ashphalt plant and auger it into your fancy new trucks. Enjoying this from the UK.
That's brilliant, seen parts of it before but not integrated like you've done it!
Looks like you've got some smart, attentive guys working for you - makes all the difference to service life and overall efficiency.
For a name, i was thinking "Lazy Susan"?
I like that one!
I’m pretty sure I saw this truck in I84 East bound around 9W
That would work really good for a city, patching on day, top soil fix ups, and mulch around trees, Then in the winter use it to top salt up on side walk plows.
LABOR SAVER !! truck name
How about intercom/radio to driver. (My background, retired)
Fantastic setup......my only area of concern is this truck is gonna likely see TONS of idle time. And so the trucks DEF system is likely gonna give you FITS. Just be prepared to do abnormal amounts of parked regens.
I was thinking the same
The difference between men and boys is the price of their toys...Nice Trucks
Sweet setup, proves necessity is the mother of invention. On an unrelated note, I don't understand how people can live on top and next to each other like that shot at 21:45. That's insanity, especially for what they probably charge.
