Wow, so pure and effortless. One of my all time favorite songs bar none..
Jon is the Starship Trooper - spiritually and lovingly traveling through space and time............
yup
Really nice. Jon and Howe could do this as a duo with two acoustics, Steve playing his lead parts. YES needs Jon back.
WOW ! I am not normally an unplugged fan but Jon is worth every minute. Go Jon.
Brilliant , still one of my all time favorite songs
Many years and good health to you Mr. Anderson, thanks for the joy!
I freaking love this man right here! Yes without Jon Anderson is NO
As days go by and years pass...jon , the band , their music takes me to the best possible place that a human being can be taken by music.they are true musicians , jon has the greatest gift he takes u w the music and you go places deeper than the oceans farther than the reaches of outter space .. deep deep deep....rock on....there is only one Jon Anderson!!!!!!!!
been a fan of Yes and Jon now for most of my life, always regarded him as a bit of a modern day jesus. The band is what it is, the music. Many fans appreciate the work of Benoir, Wakeman once said '' I think there will be a yes in existence long after I'm dead and buried ''. Jon has had to slow down recently and no longer tours with the band but let's get a grip of the point here, millions of people worldwide love Jon and always will and this is Jon Anderson here!
WE LOVE YOU JON!
My statement will always stand!
Yes without Jon Anderson is A NO
Jon Anderson THE VOICE. THE MASTER. FOREVER YES!!!🎤🎤🎤
Damn, I never knew Jon could play the guitar like that!
Touch my soul ! Yes !
I love this story the song, its time for Jon and Steve to do this as a duet!
Gotta love Jon's voice....such a spiritual sound....
Wow, I am enjoying this better than the LP version. I feel sadness when I listen to the LP because I played it a lot during a sad time in my life. But hearing this live and just Jon and his acoustic guitar, it doesn't bring up the sadness that the LP does.
Sorry..empress is hot. I hope no offense
difficult time of my life too ... the album version. But I still LOVE LOVE LOVE it. My favorite YES track ever. But I hear you. What an evocative song. Of course we would have attached our feelings to it. It's so big. Anderson's very best in my opinion.
We saw Jon during his solo tour. As in Jon only. Playing all kinds of instruments and telling great stories.
In a beautiful olde theater in Boston. Amazing.
so many great voices---can anyone add to these 2 voices that are great, PLUS also quite unique---Jon Anderson and Greg Lake
He's so amazing, damn.
That man is from somewhere else 🙏🙏😍
So fantastic.
What a wonderful man, so chilled out and friendly
I listen to this( I guess this is where it all started), And in my mind I hear Chris,Steve and the rest.
If those goobers who do the Hall voting FINALLY get it right and vote Yes in, maybe we'll hear Jon and Rick together again with Steve!
John42ification it appears so!
Jon Anderson played it very nicely!!! I just love that version!!
Beautiful.
Love taking it back too it's inception
He’s stupendous.
YES WITHOUT JON ANDERSON IS NO YES ¡¡ THAT´S IT ¡¡¡
Timeless, Classic, "Classy....." ebullient. just awesome, this guy. a true Legend of Popular Music. I love him. and his voice, so "original" right? kind of wispy, high-pitched True, but still possesses such quality and Heart. few like him.
such a legacy of wonderful music he has left us with.........and is thankfully still making. Jon.........you are one-of-a-kind sir. thank you.
Lovely version, simple and has an elegance about it...
YES without Jon is no.
What a gift....... What a voice.... I'm not sure if my feeling of awe is greater than my secret desire to be able to sing like that. While I appreciate his talent and sit amazed by it, I wonder why some are born with such talent and others only can sit an listen. I'd love to hear the lyrics he'd create to express what I just said.
He has talent BUT he worked his ass off to bring this to the world
Best foundation lesson of this song, thanks Jon !! All you tutors and cover guys, slow it down for this song...
Wow this is so familiar yet new. I love the Yes album but hearing just Jon performing unplugged is something magical all together
Fascinating to hear this classic track in bare bones form.
That is such a cool version
just wow
what a classic. "Mother Life, hold firmly onto me." Oh yeah.
A nice video. I was unaware of the Hall of Fame connection, and I wonder if Yes will ever get their due consideration. I saw Jon perform in L.A. a few months ago, and it was all great. (Saw him in Santa Barbara about a year earlier, and his voice was still in distress.) He seems to be getting much better as time passes beyond the illness that pulled him away from touring with Yes.
They made it!
Induct Yes into the hall!
Jon Anderson is AWESOME! When did Yes get in the HOF????
He's tuned down a whole step. Good for the voice I reckon.
how the heck did beyoncè get in the rock hall of fame, but not yes?
Serious?
They liked it, they put a ring on it, but they're idiots!
beytwice doesn't deserve to be in the rock anything.
Bilbo Baggins had a band?
3 people don’t remember the talks by the water
Yes should be in there; Green Day should not!
Agreed. And now they are!
Speaking of Steve Howe and energy - I always thought he had amazing energy in his hands....but he was low key otherwise. Like an upside down duck, the legs furiously going the air, the rest hidden below a placid surface. The only one more deadpan was Rick Wakeman. Another monster. My early hero Chris Squire was very physical. He had a bit more drama in him. Any drummer for Yes has to be completely mad. And Jon took music like a drug. Completely euphoric on stage. Just one man's perspective.
Jon can't play guitar, but his voice is wonderful
@HokiePokie33 well... that's just plain silly on the HOF's part...
Time to cut the crap and put Yes in! Come up with a way to make it happen!
Jon talking about Crimson and Greg Lake...too rich!! thanky
How is yes not in the rock and roll hall of fame but beyonce is
+Awfulsticknoob Better still..... Cheap Trick??? Jeez....
i know right
Yes belongs there for sure.
Now they are! Finally.
@TheZepmeister serious respirtory problems now he travels by himselfe because he dosent have enough energy to keep up with them so benoit is the main singer for yes now
Who cares if Yes is in Jann Wenner's little club? What difference does it make? Doesn't make the music any better or worse. I don't understand why people get so worked up about it.
I’m glad they are not in, it speaks well of them. It would tarnish their musical legacy
Jon Is The REAL YES
AAAAAAAAAAMEN
YES YES YES
So Jon picked out and hired Steve and now Steve thinks he is yes you know they fired Jon from the band Chris and Steve did now Chris is gone and Steve is touring with a band called yes with no original members at all. And I just saw Jon with Trevor Rabin and Rick Wakeman in August 2018 on the arw yes 50th anniversary tour. And they were so very good I think I actually enjoyed this more than any other Yes concert I ever saw. And they were legally and officially not yes because Steve how wasn't with them. Now I have to tell you Steve how is probably my very favorite guitar player on earth he has talent skill and real musicianship and craftsmanship. However pull up a RUclips video of yes with Steve Howe from the past 3 years maybe 2015 through 2019 and you will find that it is just technical Perfection with no soul no joy and no real British rock legend yes it is just mechanical perfection without the mysterious trip tacular mesmerizing lovely an awesome creative spiritual Adventure of the band that we have come to know yes. Hey I saw them on the drama tour with Trevor Horn and Geoff Downs they were awesome because Jon chose to leave the band I'm thinking to work with Vangelis maybe but it was Jon's personal choice he wanted to do something different and drama brought us into a new era and made them relevant in the post classic rock 80s and it was good stuff and that paved the way for Trevor Rabin and the overly commercial yet really cool 1980s pop yes. I never thought I would see Rick Wakeman and Trevor Rabin blend together ever I was never a fan of Trevor's until I saw Anderson Rabin Wakeman don't get me wrong Trevor Rabin is no Steve Howe and if you notice Trevor Rabin doesn't even try to be Steve how he never tries to copy Steve Howe ever. But Trevor Rabin is a pretty cool songwriter and a pretty good Lyricist and a great backup singer for Jon Anderson and Trevor Rabin does know how to throw lightning bolts. But I must say there is no member of yes that I love more at least when it comes to musical Talent even more than Steve Howe and Steve Howe is amazing on guitar my favorite member of yes ever ever ever and the one who seem to always be there for Jon Anderson when yes grew tired of him ladies and gentlemen mr. Richard Wakeman on keyboards playing everything from real classical music to going a million light-years past Keith Emerson Rick Wakeman the only person that could play at Keith Emerson funeral and Keith Emerson tribute concert Rick Wakeman anybody who really knows progressive rock now is that Rick Wakeman he does something if you know what I mean you know what I mean Rick Wakeman is the real Starship Trooper and yes I know he wasn't even on that album and he wasn't even a member of yes yet what was Rick Wakeman doing at that time oh yeah he was with David Bowie recording Space Oddity like I said Rick Wakeman the original Starship Trooper
All the comments raving and yet he is playing all the wrong chords
Umm, I am a huge Jon Anderson fan, and the interview part was awesome, but he should have picked any song but that one. The best part of Starship Trooper is Wurm.
Think maybe because Jon wrote this part and Steve wrote the Wurm part , thats my understanding
So they will talk to Jon Anderson formerly of Yes and let him reference bands (King Crimson) and other artists(himself, Greg Lake, Steve Howe) and these guys bands(Yes, King Crimson, ELP) are NOT in the hall? WHAT A BUNCH OF SHIT
+Ryan Lane yeah and Gentle Giant too!
Yes was the greatest band ever. Anderson one of the greatest singers ever..women cant even sing Yes perfectly..and certainly not John fucking DAVIDSON
Now he knows 4 chords! Lol. He'd be nothing as an artist w/o the rest of Yes. I think that's been proven. He's a great singer and good writer. But it took the entire band to really make it happen. And, yeah, Howe had chords. Lol. Howe is a musician. Anderson is not.
Wouldnt go that far. Id say howe is an instrumentalist, but as far as vocals go, there are so few that could even compare.
Anderson is a gifted singer and lyricist. That's great but that's all.
donutcookiepie that makes him a gifted musician. We can all agree he ain't no instrumentalist though
Nobody in any band could do it on their own, that's why they are a band. He does make solo music, also
Talented musicians are to be found everywhere, but when the art comes from within and transpires in what the artist emanates is what makes talented musicians become stars.
what would "YES" be without Jon Anderson, a pure-spirited artist and not a college artist who cultivated his skills
