  • Finally, after exactly a year to the date since my last trip to the Coast Line, I decidedly headed back out to railfan the line, now focused from Goleta southward as a continuation of my railfanning series along the line from last year. Although my visit to the area was rather brief, I managed to railfan the Goleta, Santa Barbara, Carpinteria, Ventura, and Ventura - East stations in only a span of a couple days from Sunday to Tuesday, where the action was pleasantly plentiful at each location. (Railfanning the stations are not in that particular order due to the planning logistics and timing to catch trains at each station). With that in mind, my first stop of my trip was at the Carpinteria Amtrak Station, mainly catching the late afternoon and evening trains on this Sunday. The Carpinteria Station doesn't have too many amenities particularly, however the station is ideally located near the Carpinteria State Beach, along with some nearby eateries, shopping, and plentiful beach activities nearby. Railfanning here is surprisingly nice as the relaxed "beach vibe" is definitely prominent with the people who live and/or visit here. In addition, there are also an ample number of crossings in either direction, making for easy detection of approaching trains; however, it is worth noting that there is a significant amount of pedestrian traffic at the Linden Avenue crossing in proximity to the station. Nonetheless, Carpinteria is a very pleasant, small beachside town that exhibits the typical SoCal beach lifestyle, where it also offers a nice amount of train activity to watch throughout the day while near the beach.
    Train 1 : Amtrak 792 with CabCar #6951 & P42DC #14. Nice loud and long horn action from the engineer !
    Train 2 : Amtrak 777 with F59PHI #460 & CabCar #6903. Great crew on #460 with some friendly waves !
    Train 3 : Amtrak 11 (Coast Starlight) with P42DC #132 & #17. Nice horn action and echoes from the engineer coming into Carpinteria !
    Train 4 : Amtrak 796 with CabCar #6952 & F59PHI #453. Cool engineer on #6952.
    Thanks for Watching !

    That F59PHI sounds like an old fashioned train whistle. I love it.

    Great video of my favorite Amtrak trains on my most favorite Amtrak route. The route of the Pacific Surfliners/Coast Starlight. I ride the Pacific Surfliners between San Diego, Los Angeles & Oxnard when I’m home in the San Diego area for visits up to a week. I alternate my visits between Los Angeles & Oxnard. My next planned visit home to the San Diego area, I will visit Los Angeles, riding the Pacific Surfliner.

    How long does it take to edit all of this

    • @BrentNguyen46
      @BrentNguyen46  6 лет назад +1

      TROLLEYFAN 2052 It depends really, as every railfan edits differently, but I generally spend 30 minutes to an hour per train editing for my videos. This video took approximately 4 hours total to make. As for the other videos of this railfanning trip, I should have them up in about 3-4 days each.

    Great video!! I thought 777 was a northbound Amtrak?

    • @BrentNguyen46
      @BrentNguyen46  6 лет назад +2

      CentralValley Railfan8311 Thanks ! Amtrak 777 is a northbound train, but all trains north of Los Angeles Union Station run with the engine leading for northbound trains and the CabCar leading for southbound trains. Or another way to think about it is that all Amtrak Pacific Surfliner trains departing Los Angeles are engine leading out, while trains headed for Los Angeles is CabCar leading in.

      BrentNguyen46 Ohhhh. That makes a lot more sense. That's why you never see CabCars departing out of there!! Thank you! Also, would you mind checking out my channel and subbing, I have been subbed to you for a lonnnnng time and I always look forward to when you upload a new vid!
