In this video titled EU4 1.31 Savoy Guide - The Most Historical Way to Form Italy? I make an EU4 Guide for Savoy for Europa Universalis 4 1.31 Leviathan. With EU4 1.31 Leviathan releasing the meta and the starting moves for many nations on the map has changed, so of course new and up to date guides are needed. The EU4 Savoy starting moves guide or EU4 Savoy starting moves tutorial will ensure that you get a great start for yourself playing as the Italian nation of Savoy. This guide covers the opening moves, diplomacy, estates, alliances, subjects, missions, national ideas, forming Sardinia Piedmont, forming Italy and more. Savoy is one of the best nations in EU4 for forming Sardinia Piedmont, forming Italy, forming The Roman Empire, playing tall, playing wide, having a powerful economy, dominating trade in the Mediterranean, having lots of buildings to maximize your production and economy and more. After watching this EU4 Savoy guide you will ensure a great start for yourself, and you will have an easy and fun campaign. Savoy doesn't have any unique achievements. If you enjoyed this video consider leaving a like and subscribing for more content in the future. The save file is available for all Tier 1 and above RUclips members in the save-games Discord channel.

I personally want to see guides for Karaman, wallachia, and maybe one of the siberian tribes.
@@ZedTripler Siberian tribes should get updated because they never do anything.
Extremely underrated channel, you have the potential to become a really big channel Red Hawk, keep up the amazing job!
Thank you I appreciate it!
It's true
just finished ludi’s guide and now a new red hawk one nice
Same
I love the editted style of the gameplay and appreciate it but they only ever record the first years of the game and call it a guide. That way they can play very little of the game and mass produce content at a fast rate.
It's also very disappointing because just when they get all of your attention, the video is over with 300 years left from the game.
If this format continues, their channels would probably die sooner than if they uploaded editted gameplay of entire playthroughs.
It's a shame because they have funny and engaging personalities, yet their format of a "guide" limits them.
Speaking for myself - sooner or later I'll probably stop watching guides after guides after guides, I already know how to play the game anyway.
Hoping both Ludi, Red Hawk and other such EU4 mass produced "guide" content creators see this criticism and maybe try to diversify away from the annoying, soon too used-up and saturated format.
Hoping Ludi and Red Hawk explore different video formats and find one that complements their creative personalities best so that they mature completely, while still maintaining the same audience engagement.
Guides just feel cheap.
EU4 is a game based on RNG, my guides stop after 40-50 years because the viewer’s games will start to differ significantly from mine, which in turn would make the guide irrelevant. These are starting moves or opening strategies, I can’t show you what do to in the 1700s because our games will be nothing alike. That’s why I say in which general direction you should go at the end of the video.
If you don’t like the guides I have two more series you can watch, and a brand new one coming out Sunday.
Cheers
@@TheRedHawk I apologize if I didn't make my point in a clearer way - I was saying that the guide format is very limitting and that I'd prefer to watch an entire game that you edit in the same way instead.
@@Asenpopov it would take way more time and add nothing to the table
I like that you dont take advantage of unusaual circumstances (like the france manovelent thing) many guides act like the rng is allways the same.
Something interesting happen when I played
>province gets excommunicated
>france will defend Provence in defensive war
>burgundy declares war on provance and fight with france
>me declare war on Provence france won't join because he's "fighting in another war"
That should be like a fool proof way to attack provence right?
@@conquestv4024 yes but burgundy may choose to ally france
Oh yeah, time to see some historical accuracy! Keep up the great work videos
Thanks! Will do!
loved the fact you didnt dec on Provence coz it was a bit a lucky scenario and the indept explaining! ur a nice guy! made me sub
I appreciate it! Glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for the sub!
What I like about ur guides is that when some good RNG happens you don't take it so we can still see the hardest and least RNG playthru to better easily replicate
Yeah I try, I mean if something amazing happens in my run then I would be stronger than most players in the same situation, so the guide wouldn’t be relevant
7:35 You can also just warn Milan
True
"France it's time for your yearly Italian war!"
"Yes master"
Love watching this channel! I would love to see you do a full playthrough some time. Nice work all and all though!
Found your channel recently fell in love. It is both informative and engaging storytelling without drawing out the video too much.
Thank you for the wonderful words, I appreciate it!
Love your videos man, they gave me confidence to play smaller nations because i only played france and England
Nice guide on the best nation :D
Love from Savoy
Hey, thanks!
You could of have used the “return core provinces” buttons against Naples for Sicilian cores with no AE and no war.
Ah that’s true
I regret only seeing this amazing video just now
Hi Red Hawk,
I love your videos, and really enjoy watching all of your content.
If i may make a suggestion, I'd highly recommend Diplomatic ideas as Savoy/Sardinia-Piedmont. The reason being that 25% Improve Relations scales amazingly with Savoy's 25% from their own ideas, and is insanely OP with Italy's 50% Improve Relations. It makes conquering that high dev land much easier from an AE perspective.
Looking forward to your next video mate!
Best EU4 channel at the moment in my opinion
Thank you I appreciate that!
The best eu4 youtuber rn!
Thanks!
100% agreed
Hi guy
I didn’t expect to find a guide for Savoy but….there it is
I’m from Torino
I like so much your guides
I love that sound that is cut shortly at 1:53 XD
In 1.30 if you were able to marry Milan, when the ambrosian rep disaster starts, you are able to restore union. That's a free PU
Could you try and do some mid-late game guides which follow these beginning guides you do? I'd love to see stuff like that as well!
Yeah I’ve thought about it, but my the mid-game it’s gonna be very hard for your game to look like mine, so the guide will be much less relevant rather than a starting moves guide
@@TheRedHawk I think you could still make a guide, not necessarily for the audience to follow every step but to learn from the unique situations you may find yourself in during the mid/late game.
Thank you so much , I formed Sardinia piedmont and Italy . Now on my way to Rome
“France will help you in all of these wars”
My France: declares wars against Austria every month, calls me in and never joins some of my war
wait, Eco quantity trade quality. sounds like MP strategy to me :D
It’s a great setup for Italy that’s for sure, but yeah it is the MP meta I suppose
First time trying this country, for the most part this guide was great, obv. I had a few minor things go differently, but Savoy was a real hidden gem!
So much respect for not DOWing Provence. It’s really annoying in guides when stuff like that happens. Thanks !
You’re welcome!
Curious, but what's wrong with "dowing" provence?
@@jorgex2000 it requires a good chunk of luck and doesnt happen alot, so he skipped it for a more usable guide
The glorious mint toothpaste.
You could have declared on Provence while having France on your side wrapping up first war against Genoa. Nice way to showcase that trick some viewers may not be aware of.
Thanks to this guide I am the closest to forming Italy that I have ever been, Thank you bro your guides are great 🥺
Glad I could help!
Id like to see you get the achievement Tatarstan, Im trying for it right now.
What is this one ?
Advice if you want to play as Savoy
if you improve reletionship with Castile after some times you will be able to ask for a royal marriage and an alliance after that.
so you will be able to being ally to France , Austria and Castile at the same time.
No more Afraid of aggressive expansion or coalition and they will conquer aragon for you
You cant really save this alliance , I d choose Austria and Castile them both rival France.
@@fkjl4717 the best thing of savoy is doesn't matter
Even a mission is about ally both France and Austria together
Even for me Both Castille and Austria rival France but France loved me too much and in some years Austria stop rival France.
I played a savoy game and after Venice died, it was cake walk (i went more italy conquest than france).
Thanks babe
Dude I subscribe to you every video I dont get why I don't stay subscribed
Hmm, pretty strange
Hell yes man
Yo Hawk, can I ask you a question? How do you get that screen that shows what possible allies you can get? I've seen you use it multiple times but I can't find it myself. I presume it's attached to a DLC, but I can't find any information on which.
It’s the macro builder, you press B to access it or you can find it under your coat of arms in the top left corner. I think it’s part of The Mandate of Heaven DLC
@@TheRedHawk Thanks a bunch!
@@CantusTropus You do need a DLC for it though, I believe it's Mandate of Heaven but you would have to check which one
Wow, you answered my request, thanks!
One question: How did you get so much administrative and diplomatic points?
by getting high level advisers and not spending them on things you do not need
@@Fahad-hg1hq high level advisers do demand high level of payments. Savoy really fast gets into situation "where is the money, lebovski? "
Oh man i just started a new Savoy game in mp yesterday
Well maybe you can use some tips from this guide! Hope you have fun!
@@TheRedHawk yeah will do thanks
I like stabbing up once before increasing stab costs with estate privileges
So, mine mission tree is different from yours, is the DLC Leviathan? And what about the surpreender of Maine?
Please do a britanny guide next please
I’ll do one for Britanny for sure!
I want to play Savoy now.
Do it!
@@TheRedHawk I will. It's added to my list 😊 Question: do you speak any other languages?
what's the point of humiliating a rival second time? what does that grant except age mission?
Power projection, prestige etc.
@@TheRedHawk I didn't realize that. btw thanks for the video I'll definitely try savoy.
I played Savoy in very another way. I allied Austria like forever and used them as shield...but also appeased France with marriages. In first war i annexed Salluzo and Novara. With Shadow kingdom event i stayed in the Empire, which especially profitable with Emperors reforms. Also since i was in the Empire Austria closed eyes on my wars with Switzerland and Provence, i took Bern, Friubourg and Toulon...eventually Hungary become my ally. With event of Burgundian succession i joined the Franco-Austrian war against France and got awarded with Lyon and Montpelier. After that i killed Provence and independent Avignon. Also i divided Milan between me and Ferrara. Next war is against that scumbag Ferrara:)
P.S. i got a serious problem with eventual bankrupting.
I would like to see a lithuania guide my game is just me struggling to get money
My Lithuania run I formed Ruthenia and just pretended money doesn't exist. Get money from wars and don't worry about running a deficit. Plus you get some bonuses from both the Lithuanian mission tree and the Ruthenia one if you want to take advantage of that. I recommend switching primary culture to ruthenian shortly after game start(destate non ruthenian culture provinces to do this). Sometimes you also get lucky and get a claim on Crimea from the estates which can be pretty good. Make sure to ally Poland and if you want to crush Muscovy early ally Novgorod and make sure to help them.
In my first few runs, Saluzzo was allied to Burgundy AND Austria rivaled me
Greetings from Savoy (but the french part) :D
Pegu! With all of the assorted achievements
I have a guide for Pegu! Check it out
Can you do a "Imperium Universalis needs to be stopped" its a really fun mod but I havent seen many youtubers make videos on it.
Yes! I'll do a video about it soon
Can u make a Great Horde guide?
Is it worth forcing Milan to release some minors, when you are chopping them up?
Its not that unusual to be able to strike Provence. Because when France is fighting England, they always will throw Provence under the bus. And i would go for this first. Italy can wait until it left the HRE.
Yeah this is true
I've always formed Italy as Naples. I just like purple color
I feel a bit cheated that we didnt get to see that wonderfull blue color :). Love your guides though.
You will do eu4 A-Z?
Coming this Sunday! Stay tuned!
@@TheRedHawk Nice
@@TheRedHawk Approved
What editing software do you use?
Wouldn’t it be smart to get an royal marriages with burgundy for a possible PU?
What graphic mod do you use?
Graphical Map Improvements
@@TheRedHawk thanks
11:52 after doing anything
I've discovered that it's better to ally Austria and ignore France since you need their lands to create Sardinia-Piedmont. If you capture their capital and a few forts, you can white peace and eat Provence no problem.
Provence also often allies Saluzzo, so in your war against Saluzzo you can force them to break their alliance with France
seen the guide and tried a game as savoy... france and austria rival me from the start... pikachu face
20k isnt there a missing 0? Also I like forming italy with Milan cause military dictatorship is fun
What dlc do you use?
I use all DLCs
Had a good start with this guide but then France decided to stay in the war against England for 15-20 years despite having every province on the continent and getting themselves in a bunch of debt so they could never help me in any future war.
You can form Tuscany as Savoy right?
Wait how does a dead nation gibe war reps ...
how did you integrate Genova so quickly? i coulen't overcome the -100malus when i was playing them until some lucky event...
and i like to keep the capital in Chambery, it swap your culture too, maybe not optimal but i like it
Placate their rulers, improve relations, send gifts, pay off their debt
Swapping culture makes you unable to create Italy.
yes but you can form France instead
"The absolute worst thing that can happen is Genoa allying Austria"
> Genoa allies both Austria and Aragon :(
i think you should make ottomans guide it is kinda hard
yes i am joking but i want a ottomans guide that will guide me to a ENJOYABLE WC burgundy WC was easy cause i had like half of western europe by 1490
Saxony guide?
I’ll add them to the list!
@@TheRedHawk yay
Please do Orleans
Ulm guide when?
Argh, was too late you saying to integrate Genoa before 1460. Should have told us beforehand :-)
oh yeah, I forget you don't get the fun stuff without the dlc
This guide doesn't work since Saluzzo is part of the empire. Austria won't let me attack them without them going to war with me.
Make a claim on Saluzzo and Austria won't go to war with you.
