The fact that “Foundations Jumpstart” (pretty much) isn’t Standard legal is a problem Magic have entirely brought upon themselves. J25 is fantastic but as WOTC launched it alongside, and branded it as, ‘Foundations’, a set meant to function as an ‘introduction to Standard’, when most of J25 is not Standard legal at all, it ended up being a complete self-own I cannot even begin to justify. I can only assume they did this because because it’s one of only two sets in 2024 without dedicated Commander product.
Except Foundations is just about Standard. The Play and Collectors Boosters are Standard legal for the most part, but everything else is meant for the wider array of formats. Jumpstart has always been aimed at eternal and kitchen Sink formats, with the exception of when they were directly tied to the story from DMU to MOM, with the double side order of Lord of the Rings. And people HATED those Jumpstart themes. I think the welcome decks are also in a similar vein. And Yes, I know how long Foundations will be on shelves.
Wizkids went from "we have no competition" to "our competition is kicking our asses!" Same thing happened to Sony during the PS3 and I tell ya, that either humbles a company real quick, or shuts them down even quicker.
Could you imagine if Magic offered a free foundations Jumpstart pack and then gave newbies 2-4? Those Jumpstart packs are designed to be half decks and combining any 2 makes a ready to play 40 card deck. They could have offered 4 or even 2 packs to new players and they could spend a lot of time combining them and could be a good foundation to introduce them to draft and limited formats the bread and butter to most LGS.
Hey man, im sorry for leaving this comment this late, ive been watching you for over 10 years, im just not a comments guy, love you brother from albania. We personally dont get the products you review, BUT i print cards and play with friends. If you like the conclusion after 5 years trying cards games, the friend group likes the most playing yugioh but randomized no meta decks, building digimon decks and trying digimon meta, an ok reaction to pokemon. My personal favourite duel masters but the friend group doesnt like it. They love digimon too much so every ''shield'' game seems inferior to them. The friend group turns out really dislikes mana systems, counting points, having little bits and pieces etc. The friend group likes playing cards and attacking sthe opponents face.
But they DO have disposable deodorant wipes, that's literally how some companies distribute cologne samples. FWIW, the Granblue standees game looks neat, but apparently there are a number of characters that were pre-order exclusive. This isn't uncommon for Japanime Games, but it's still pretty miserable from a completionist/fighting game enthusiast standpoint.
I know about the individual wraps, I mean like a canister where you yank one wipe and you can set it up at a convention the way disinfectants are at grocery stores.
3:10 "That's weird right?" No, that's pretty much what welcome decks have always been. They used to be cards from the most recent core set with one 0.25 cent rare but the decks have literally one use and that's for you to learn how to play the game. I honestly think it would be meaner to give these decks to someone and let them walk away with the impression that they could take this deck to a constructed standard event and not get completely housed.
Hasbro has been scamming their shareholders, why wouldn't they scam Pax goers? And if Granblue gets minis it should be the cute chibis from the gacha. Arcadia, Krosmaster and SDE already demonstrated that's the peak tactical mini form if you care about form AND function.

Not sure if you saw it, but at the d&d booth they were selling onslaught for a deep discount. I still thought it was overpriced though
I saw one person carrying a copy. Didn't bother to ask where it came from.
...How cheap?
@Kohdok I don't recall entirely, but I want to say 80$?
@@sinisterpuddle6655 if that's a 2 player starter, that's not *unreasonable*.
Yeah, if that was base retail I would be singing a VERY different tune about it.
12:50, I love that they really let you be Duke Devlin in this game. that's just objectively funny
The idea for deoderant in the form of disposible wipes is a really good idea, I think you might be onto something there.
They do exist, but in small hand wipe sized pouches. Clorox wipes sized tubes would certainly be a solid iteration.
It would also be nice if they could be Eco friendly.
I got to visit PAX this year thanks to your gamejam! Now seeing what randomized concrud disease I might manifest :D

Heeeeyy!!! 5:13 Magusha was awesome.

The Minimasters Tournaments were exactly that, though. Just not for newbies.
Gudnak must've used an Ambigram for the logo. (if you're curious on what that means, it's something arranged to depict the same word upside down.)
Been doing demos for Granblue Fantasy. It's been fun.

I'd love to see Shard Bugs at Pax in the near future. Great video.

Holy Cow
i love you kohdok!!!!
Nice video. I love cons.
Oh these are some cool tabletop games. As a GBF player that tactical RPG looks interesting.
Also wtf CIRNÕ??????
less than an onslaught starter but how many yugioh decks is it worth?
Ever Heard of the (CRYPTID FATES) CCG???
Was there anything Yu-Gi-Oh related at PAX Unplugged ?
Not really. Don't think they even had any events.
@Kohdok not even a simple tournament? That sucks

Any update on the long awaited Chaotic reboot ?

Hey kohdok a bit unrelated to the video topic but I was curious if you were gonna do a video on beyblade X
I would love to hear your thoughts
It's "Las instrucciones", not "Los instrucciones"
