This is probably my 10th time watching this video. I really vibe with your workflow, starting with Ableton's session view then finalizing the mix in S1. I WISH SO HARD that presonus would build a session view/clip launcher into S1. It would be a game changer for the DAW. Ive said it before, this is the one thing holding me back in S1. I'm going to get Ableton and use this same workflow. I also have the SQ. Thanks Gregor.
Presonus pleaseeeee expand on the ableton live integration for the SQ and Atom. Native touch strip support is much needed for note repeat, pitch/mod wheels. The SQ is really good but missing some key functions when using it with Ableton. Great video as usual 🙌🏾
Good to see Live and Studio One working in tandem. You are right Gregor, they have different strengths and work very well together. Thanks for the rewire tip which has been bugging me for ages.
Finally, a video that really shows what ATOM SQ, Ableton & Studio One's integration can do between them. I feel the same way going from ATOM creation to Studio One and all the plugin's & parameters transfer in on screen is super sweet. Your explanation of the "sequencing" is spot on, especially how you show shortcuts or little "gotcha" areas that if you didn't select or check mark would make it more difficult, ie the "freeze" to transfer part is the kind of information I need. I wonder could you do a video on processing & RAM reduction, yet still keeping the quality of the program running, monitoring, on the fly editing or impromptu "instrument racked" instruments. I'm always looking to reduce program, sound instrument plugin, mic record/monitor over processing and leading to either clipping or worse, crash.... Any and all suggestions or videos in that department will be most welcomed. I also have a LaunchPad Pro and Launchkey 37 to add in me "home" recording studio (tho if I'm only recording myself is it still considered a "studio" or am I a "onedio" .......
Please do more videos with both studio one and ableton!! Really good stuff and really helpful, would love to get some more technique on working with the both of them, since I’m kinda new to both and both of the DAWs look amazing. Always great stuff Gregor, love your videos and would appreciate a comment!
I'm a noob and have just gotten the SQ for my 50th. I just really wish you could chop up samples on it like you can do with maschine. Really miss that so am looking for older mk2 just for that ability. As always though, Gregor is the only actual youtuber that can hold my attention all the way through the video, so nice one man. Always informative and explains in great details.
Mannn that sounds awesome! I’m currently using studio one but I’m blown away by abletons push. Would you say (or you Gregor) that buying a push and using ableton and studio one/ rewiring is a wise step? Thanks ahead!
@@rotemcohen7425 Shortly after I wrote this I found out you can run channel outputs from ableton into studio one without using rewire (which just does the main outs) So I was running ableton with the push and maschine (software) with the maschine (hardware) both outside of studio one but running all their channel outputs into studio one.
Wow! New to Studio One from Reaper, got an Atom SQ because I knew Studio One would make their hardware kickass like their software. And I heard about the integration. My head is spinning from all the info, going to process and try to have some fun with this. Considering abelton as well, thank you for this video!
Love Ableton, I'm demoing studio one rn and honestly not sure if the workflow will be for me still. I do a lot of sound design too, but I think if I end up switching to anything it'll probably be Bitwig eventually. The modulation options give it more potential than all the other DAWs imo, it just needs to catch up to everyone else and sort out the major features it still lacks. I love Ableton though, I'm the polar opposite of this dude though I love arranging in Live, it's god mode once you know the shortcuts, but that does require actually learning the shortcuts which most people don't do.
There are some features you could replicate in Ableton, step recording, seeing the name of the parameter and seeing 2 lines of clips instead of just one at the time
Nice one Gregor... great vid as always. I like my SQ, it has great potential but am afraid I do not love it quite yet and to be honest I actually wish I had held off with the purchase for a while. As a person who likes to stay away from the mouse as much as possible I am impressed how useful the SQ is for quick arranging and generally navigating S1 however. I primarily bought the SQ for its main selling point which is "Tight integration with patterns" but it turns out I dont use it for that very much at all due to the fact that pattern automation cannot be controlled via the SQ. For me pattern automation ie velocity/repeat/delay etc is what makes S1's pattern mode so great and I reckon its a fundamental part of the pattern editor. Please Presonus give us an update that addresses this issue ASAP so that I can whole heartedly fall properly in love with the SQ. There are quite a few other improvements I would like to see but this is No1... I am happy to exercise patience for everything else but please finish the pattern editor integration as soon as possible.
Bravo and thanks. One thing optically that should studio one 5 upgrade its the colors. Colors loosing their "fidelity " when the background is black and when the background its more "white-ish" the colors are more pristine. They could also hive something more 3d to their colors...optical counts a lot..
I wonder how many electronic producers are using Live because other electronic producers told them to use Live. Actually I don't miss anything using S1 and I could do everything to form my workflow the way I want in S1 so far. There's nothing like the S1 Console in Live and I outweigh the Clip view with layers easily. The midi editing is improvable in every DAW but as a little thing, I have the start/ end/ length values to set notes individually. (Please let me fully edit midi events with the keyboard or at least with a controller. (YES, pls just copy the Maschine encoder midi editing and build it into Atom!)). There was nothing for me in the 5. update for me as an electronic producer, though, except for the mixer scenes. But this is just nice to have.
In Cubase12 you can set up a midi scrpt to look for Looking for serie notes C1, C3 let the script find all matching midi events for you. Ableton is primitive with midi editing. Reaper is much better.
Can you all logically explain why you guys left out the 16 level option in the DAW that you created this to seamlessly work with??????? This is a feature that this controller has.. But not in its own DAW??? I bought this and was SHOCKED I couldn't access this feature in Studio One. This is essential to drum programming and you almost got it right. This should be universal especially since it's available in the DAWS YOU DON'T EVEN SELL!.LOLOL Please fix this.

Brilliant - always amazed every time Gregor shows us the synergy between S1 and Live.

Ive had the Atom SQ for about 4 weeks and this video has changed the game for me . Cheers Gregor

Best video ever!!!! This is exactly what we're wanting to do in my studio, using Studio One and Ableton together. Thanks much!!!🤩

That’s a great company. Not afraid to show the benefits of concurrent products.
This is awesome. I just got the SQ yesterday. This will let me keep my push at home and take the SQ with my surface pro or future MacBookpro.
Gregor is amazing. His videos are so informative

Please make more Ableton Tutorials. This is an amazing tool.
I left ableton for studio one. Never going back.
Me too!
Why? What major advantages does it have which Live 11 doesn't?
I use the Ableton Push 2 in Live running through rewire into Studio One!

@@TheVenusProjectInfo does that push MIDI out as well as audio? Or just the audio output channels?
that tune funky Gregor.... I just got my ATOM SQ about an hour ago. Time to dig in!
How do uou manipulate samples in the Impact XT soundset. For instance change the key of a synth loop and split up across the keyboard?

Brilliant insights ! Ill wait for these feature before buying sq.
my problem is, that i don't get the Atom SQ blue LED, it is still green. Would be fine, if you show Live/Atom SQ prefs settings
Can you launch scenes with the sq ?
danke Gregor das war sehr wichtiger Stuff ... LG
please built a Rewire kind of connection between studio one and live!🙏
i'm just finding out about the sq1. been looking for something like this to control ableton...
Ah. It looks like I want one of these now.
Hello. How can I "quantize" using presonus sq with ableton live?
Good info... and another great shirt. :)

does the step sequencer mode work in ableton live?
Came here for that
I dont know what instrument plugin do i have to use (
Where do I get a space-kitty t-shirt?
Fantastic!

The step sequencer doesnt work in Ableton and is there a chord memory mode?
"Make that bixtch shorter..." 🤣😂
I wish i could do this with Bitwig
Halfway through the video I saw his shirt. At least the Dutch get it.
That’s so Amsterdam ........
