    Thanks Ivan! Got mine last week and it is impressive. Definitely worth the upgrade compared to the Atom. The other thing I'm really enjoying is the "Autofill" option for VST plugins to auto map to the encoders, and as you said, up to 8 banks of 8 parameters at your fingertips. Just pull up Pigments or any plugin for example and press the autofill button on the configure window and you will immediately be ready to adjust the plugin. Works for effects too, and you only need to do the autofill once for Studio One to remember in the future. Used to be only on a Faderport, but 5.2 brought it to the SQ. Agree on the volume mapping by default. Thanks again for all of your videos!

    Thanks for the excellent review! I'm a huge Studio One user, and wanted something I can use for composition, drum programming, and general ease of use within Studio One - This definitely checks all those boxes.

    I have had the ATOM and love it, I do play real drums but love to use the ATOM for creating a beat template for my songs, I just bought a used ATOM SQ on Amazon to use with my mobile studio. Great job going over the functionality and explaining your likes and dislikes of the ATOM SQ Ivan! Great Channel.

    I've had an SQ since last summer and it's been a great addition. Agree with Ivan that transport controls, secondary controls, and versatility of the pads are a plus. Enjoy using the touch strip to modulate expression on VSTs.

    Man, it's time for an Atom Sq key 49. Great video. I keep coming back to it as I realize that there's not really any better of a daw/controller platform than Studio One and the Atom Sq. 🤷🏻‍♂️

    Thanks a million bro for fulfilling your promise promptly and for the deep dive video on the SQ. After watching this video I've now confirmed that I made the right choice to buy the SQ.

    I've recently got one. I like it, but I need to practice using it so that certain functions will be in my muscle memory -- that'll speed things up for sure.
    I'd also like the step input to work like an Elektron unit. Press and hold one or more steps, press a note and that note will be on all those steps.

    excellent overall explanation...I was eager to get started with the Atom SQ but have found it extremely frustrating with the huge learning cuve and NO "HOW TO" manual...I have found that even watching guys like you or Gregor from Presonus things don't work as they should...it needs to be stated that you must be in a certain mode or window or things don't work or aren't available to select..that is so frustrating...ex...Layout keyboard...often is unavailable ...no idea why!! thanks for the help...I will be watching more...just make sure to slow down a tad..and explain how the system must be set up prior to jumping into certain modes or windows...also...I have a problem with not having any sound when using impact xt or other instruments when I add a track...even though the track above was working!! any tips would be fantastic..thanks

    Nice review. I love the SQ for the sequencer, keyboard and for controlling Devices. But I also have the Atom for finger drumming and the Faderport 16 for controlling everything "transport" in S1 i.e. start/stop/play/record/mixing/looping and especially navigating a session with the FP is a breeze because the rotary knob you miss for that is present on the FP. I thing for that even the smallest FP would be a great addition.

      I have Atom SQ, but I'm going to have a look at Fader Port because I need a better experience with the mixer window. Thanks for the tip.

    Question, is there really no way to change the behavior of the encoder knobs in terms of how fast they move the knobs on plug-ins? Everything I'm seeing acts like there is not and it's hard for me to believe PreSonus has just ignored this obvious flaw in this otherwise awesome piece of equipment.

  • @tunesofeleven
    @tunesofeleven 3 года назад +3

    Sure, it looks hell cool. Honestly I don't know if it's just me, but won't using the keyboard hotkeys and mouse to navigate and all be more efficient, easy on your neck (as you won't have to move it down to look at the buttons on SQ and then look at the screen again and again), I know after using it for a while one would develop muscle memory and then it will be more easier, but why waste time on that learning curve?
    I am still unable to figure out how this piece of gear can help my workflow in a positive way.
    In a nutshell, I like Presonus trying out new futuristic stuff and would love to see this tech grow in coming years but as of now this just feels very gimmicky.

    • @tunesofeleven
      @tunesofeleven 3 года назад

      @@shango7942 yes probably not a hotkey for that but this is exactly one of the best example of what I am trying to say, I don't see that I will save a lot of time by choosing instruments using this gear compared to using keyboard and mouse, instead I believe using keyboard and mouse will be more practical and faster when you have many instruments in the list and you just want to type in the name in the search bar and load it in. What do you think?

    • @shango7942
      @shango7942 3 года назад +1

      @@tunesofeleven Good point in regards to searching for multiple plugins, cause I have a hot key for that. But also we tend to run out of hot keys combination and also the remembering of them. I think an argument can be made for both scenarios. But I do like the centralization of everything with the Atom Sq.

    I just bought it and LOVED it... should of gotten months ago but was a bit put off of how different it is. Now I love it for that its like a keyboard and drum machine AND controller in one. One con I found is that I cannot remove the Note FX within atom (I use Scaler anyway) which is a weird oversight.

    pretty underwhelmed with the presonus controllers. they're so tedious and slow compared to something like maschine or push 2. there's a whole huge bank of keys on there that could have shift functions for commonly used commands and macros but they're literally just wasted and the rotary knobs are dumb knobs...are you serious? i have to program each individual knob every time just like with any other dumb midi controller? stupid. they need to take some hints from native instruments and ableton. create something robust and proprietary and most of all FAST. there should always be screens over knobs indicating what they do, and they should have default functions like plugin/instrument control like they do on push and maschine. whoever is running presonus hardware integration needs a good smack to the back of the head
