“The Game” is another good one. My favorite scene is in the beginning when he enters the play of the game. He doesn’t realize it had started. He’s In a cab, the cabbie bails, gets trapped, cab goes off into the river and he’s freaking out how can he escape. Then he realizes he had this door handle in his pocket. He had the solution the whole time!! When he calmed down. Controlled his fear, he got out. It’s been long time since I saw this, but that memory came up for me recently, so I searched for the Clip. Then I find a clip from “The Mask”in someone’s video. It was the scene where The Mask draws a cartoon handle so he can flush the water down. So he created his solution through his imagination. Manifested into his reality to solve his problem
I always thought Dark City was the most amazing sci-fi I had ever seen, and wondered why it didn't make more of a splash. In addition to its symbolic depth, it is a masterpiece of suspense, dialogue, characterization, atmospherics, and aesthetics. I sensed its significance at the time without understanding it.
That was a brilliant analysis! I would like to expand on what you said, although I will probably ramble some. (My apologies in advance.) One movie everyone seems to forget is The Thirteenth Floor, which came out the same year as The Matrix. It wasn't a raging success, but there are some occult meanings in it, as well. In that movie, there were several levels to the games. The humans on the top level created a lower level, which in turn, created a level, etc. They could enter these matrices at will and "possess" the characters. Another interesting thing about the top level is that their world was built on water - as if it were above "the firmament." In Westworld, the hosts were patterned after humans. I don't remember the quote, but Dolores alluded to the fact that because the hosts were created in their image, she saw the good in humanity. Even in Westworld, the "Man in Black" had his consciousness placed into a host, as did Bernard. In the Bible, it says "Let us make man in our image." What if we truly are in the image of our creators? And by that, I don't just mean looks; i mean character. I bring all of this up because it's very, very clear to me that as clownish as this realm is, whoever runs it has a very human-like sense of humor - often juvenile and very dark, but still human. I also believe the "elite" and their minions know exactly where we are and what's going on. It's a gut feeling. I don't think this place is an experiment and I'm not sure they're feeding off our energy. Perhaps they use us for entertainment, which would make this the most advanced video game one could imagine. Or maybe we are the players and when we leave, the game ends. The phrase "As above, so below" in this context makes a lot more sense. So does the term "higher self."

And 13 th Floor has a ton of stuff in there as well...yes this "created in their image" is something I have not taken enough time to explore and research, but now with what you said here I see that I should add that to what I am looking at over the next month. It was also interesting to note that both the agents in The Adjustment Bureau and the Strangers in Dark City had a distaste to water, probably alluding to their machine-like nature. But yes, Neo was fully expected by the Architect, which makes me wonder the Demiurge expects us to fight. There may no need to fight at all, but simply detach and leave.
I've been thinking that too. Neutrality and standing in our power is worth considering. Clearly the consciousness of humanity is being intentionally dumbed down and coralled. The controllers appear artificial and machine-like. My biggest question is how badly do they need us and what for? Also, what are they most threatened by?
Its also worth considering with the architect example you've brought up, that a highly advanced quantum computer could have crunched all the variables to be able to both predict and manipulate the future to its own end. If that's the case, our weapons may well be the weapon of faith and belief as these are variables which are difficult to quantify and predict. Following one's heart may be the key to it all.

This gives my age away (sorta), I owned Dark City on VHS tape originally. I bought it shortly after seeing it in the Theater and being blown away. My ex-wife (now) thought I was losing it (then), she couldn't understand what I saw in the film, which I've since replaced with a DVD version in my collection.

The original Blade Runner did some of these themes as well. The replicant Rachel had memories implanted that were actually someone else's. They were so real to her she didn't question them. Only when she did the test to reveal a true human did she realize she wasn't one. In this world it rains nonstop and the way out was "Off World".
Just found this channel and I am a few videos deep. The context of everything makes me feel like these kind of discussions are what I've been missing from my life. The videos I've always been looking for, without knowing I've been looking for them. I'm 31 now and thought that I went through a bit of an awaking in life about 10 years ago...but only recently I feel like I really didn't go through shit and only now am I discovering how little I truly truly know.... I had that same feeling of thinking I went through an awakening when really it was just the beginning. It’s a constant journey of de-programming and getting to the true self. The only advice I can give is to follow your heart. Each of our journeys is unique for us and it will do you no good following someone else exactly. Of course videos like this and other guides are welcome but don’t take anything for absolute truth unless you have experienced it yourself. Be fearless too. Don’t worry if you seem crazy to others or even your own mind, it’s part of de-attaching from this upside down world. Anyway that’s what’s helped me, I’m still on my own journey as well
@@creatorworlds3424 I would advise something similar. It is very difficult to not have a solid foundation of beliefs because it can make you feel crazy. This is why I feel you must always return to the heart, since too much time in the mind can also make you go crazy. The healthiest one can potentially do is detach from the world. If you truly want to be ready to leave, then there cannot be anything here holding you back. This still means you can act out of love and kindness towards others because it’s simply a more enjoyable experience to do so.

Yes I agree. It was one of the reasons I wanted to put something in my book beyond just "here is the cave" but some ideas of what to do about it. Perhaps part of the whole thing is just to keep people distracted exploring the cave endlessly, never thinking "but what about an exit door."

Something like this happened to me and my ex once. We woke up one morning feeling like we had been turned on, as if by a switch being flicked. It wasn't a normal waking up. We seemed to have come to at the same time and neither she nor I could remember going to bed, let alone sleep the night before.
Howdie, that was very thoughtful. I instantly saw those films were captured by a palimpsest. They were a rewriting, and an over writing, of the theme of awakening. I could see them as avenues created by David Bowman entering the ‘monolith’ at the end of 2001. And as for the theme of ‘false enlightenment’ leading to ‘false awakenings,’ the film Enter The Void deals with these themes in a much more brutal, but no less a phantasmagoric, manner. It may be fascinating for you to consider this later film as a part of this palimpsest. It features a character who enters into a Bardo state and it’s consequences, and ends in a paradoxical way in rebirth. But is it out of the womb, or matrix, of rebirth? Fascinating insight you have captured. Thank you!
Nice analysis! Dark City always reminded me of Edward Hopper's "Nighthawks" painting. Throughout the years, many viewers of the painting have noted the powerful emotions that it seems to evoke. Feelings of loneliness, isolation, alienation. Even dread. All of which are very much in line with the overall mood of Dark City.

Talk about coincidence, I just finished watching 1899 on Netflix and the in the show DIRECTLY REFERENCES PLATOS CAVE! Not going to give spoilers but it is in the vein of the movies talked about here. 1899 is the most expensive german show produced. Netfliix partly sponsored it but the German Motion Picture Fund gave it 10M Euros; the largest it has given to a project and it's not even a movie! And it is distinct (for me, that is) that the characters talk in their native language based on their nationality in the show. So the german crew speak German, the spaniards talk in spanissh, etc. etc. And for me, I don't even find it confusing, thanks to the subtitles haha. The makers of 1899 made DARK also on Netflix which I think is better, not taking away that 1899 is still a decent watch.

Hi Howdie. I just caught your THC interview and I was moved by something you said and wanted to reach out. You go into the allegory of the cave and you speak about the layers of deception on the reasons of why we are in the cave, and the fact that in all our manipulated mockingbird teachings (oral, written, and visual) no one stands up on their own and escapes the cave, they are either taken out of the cave by someone else or some other scenario. You go on to talk about the dread that comes from this, the dread that comes from knowing that no matter how far you go down the labyrinth of discovery of the nature of our reality, you never truly know if it’s you standing up, or if its something else dragging you out making you see it wants you to see. You talk about how you want out of this soul school sometimes. And Greg who I have always known to vibe with exactly the intent of the guest and nail it, and never really guide from personal bias, didn’t really meet you in that bleak place you were speaking about. Which was surprising. He talked about how he hasn’t had personal loss in his life that can help him understand where you are at in your journey. Meanwhile we all live in this hellscape of life. We all ignore the hell that this life truly is for our own sanity. The endless questions get exhausting. And sometimes as you rightly said you just want to go home…. What we call “the world” (ever changing experiences that seem to happen in tine and space) in is in fact a reflection of the incessant activity pf the mind that needs to hold on to something seemingly “else than itself” to confirm its existence. we seemengly cannot get out of the cave because we unconsciously are fascinated by it and we don’t realize that we are co-creators of it. The “trick “ is to redirect our attention away from the “outside” experiences and direct it to the source of creation within : the stilness/consciousness/ beingness of which the mind itslef is a product (and not the other way around). That’s why you can’t think your way out of the cave. You can only awaken from it. Once identification with ego is realized there is no one that is reincarneted and no one affected by karma anymore. In fact the “cave” none other than the result (an outside projection) of being identified with the body/mind.

I shared this movie and the D code on the loudspeaker, and I think it's one of the most on point movies. I think the universe even regrets ever making it because it shows a lot of truth.
I see a pattern in all movies. Anyone who experienced narcissism will know what I'm talking about . At first evil was cosealed in movies, presenting the victim responsible for all the misunderstandings and problems, making it feel guilty and at the end of the movie, the concealed evil protagonist would forgive the victim and they got married. Nowadays the evil protagonist is not concealed any more, but is presented as a troubled soul that has empathy,so you should forgive him. Like bullet train protagonist or spirited protagonist. Where I'm getting at, with all the above is that npcs were concealed and you took the blame at the past. Now npcs are exposed so you are supposed to feel pity for them. Conclusion: they fed of our guilt in the past, now they feed of our compation. Indifference and of course not believing them, will probably starve them off. I think they can't survive if they show their real self, that's why all these lies. If a preditor has no prey to eat, it dies. We must collectively wake up and they will disappear. If no-one believed them back at 2020 what would they have done? They depend on the believers, called enablers at narrssisism theory. Anyone who believes them is an enabler. If they run out of enablers, game over for them. They are probably at a real predicament right now, THEY are running out of food. So they project that fear to you. A narsisist only resorts to force and terrorism, when he is exposed. Hold on people, this was their extinction burst and instead of helping them, it just exposed them more!

Perfectly said. Howdie misses the simplicity of the metaphor: the city is dark and oppressive, while shell beach, as a metaphor for nature, represents freedom. Humans are imprisoned in civilization, through our learned dependence on it, and deliberate brainwashing to make us forget the true way. Howdie has succumbed to the lie that shell beach never existed, despite all our genetic memories screaming that it did and does. The transformation of an ethical, healthy hunter gatherer into a serial killer represents the ultimate triumph of civilization.
I've never liked the ending of this film. That pan-out revealing the world to be a closed system didn't sit well with me due to the questions it raises. If we figure out the truth of this realm, is there yet another layer to the onion? Is it turtles all the way down?

From William Gibson's view, whose books were said to be the foundation for the Matrix, Johnny Mnemonic, a character from another of his novels was the prototype for Neo, and that Neo was the perfection of his predecessor. What's interesting is that in the movies, Keanu Reeves portrays both Johnny Mnemonic, and later, Neo. Also I think the casing of all men for the strangers has three reasons: dark sorcerers or priesthoods throughout time from Sumer to Canaan to Carthage and through to present have been men. Most secret societies are Fraternal Orders. And well... Most of Hollywood puts from the rough. So you potentially have Mystery Babylon archetypes being portrayed as the strangers, and Hollywood is shares their affinity for sodomy. It's a little disturbing that a child is one of the strangers, the only one that appears to express emotions, albeit only sadistic pleasure in his work. That means it's a dead child if they are using bodies as vessels. It's a form of subconscious trauma for an empathetic audience to see. Myself counted in that. It's unsettling.

Just now listening to this analysis video however, I've pointed to this move as one of my all time favorites for many years. It suggests the power of the individual like no other. It's more of a documentary than science fiction in that the arc of the protagonist is one of the True Spiritual Student to outgrow and escape what Christ calls "this world." The goal of dissolving the prison of time/space through Realization of the Real Self.

Another thing about the adjustment Bureau that I don't think a lot of people picked up on the symbolism of, Is that Matt Damon's character basically frees the devil from the basement. The devil, as I view him, becomes the new chairman, and basically imprisons the old chairman, the white-haired Caucasian (God?) And of course for his part in releasing the dark "man" the basement, Matt Damon gets what he wants. Who knows what he just unleashed on the world, but hey, at least he's happy, for now. They portray this as a positive change of guard in the movie, but I don't buy it. He is the fair and Enlightened one, and the old man [old ways, disciplining father] was too strict, right? hey, do you think knowing what we know now that the fish could've been an individual you know like somebody else. Because I've noticed on all the movies are decoded that there's this universal rhythm we're like the villain plays a good guy. The good guy plays the villain and there's a lot of like weirdness to it. I was trying to figure out who the Dutch brothers are in this.
The Matrix was written in the early 90s so I dont think it took anything from Dark City. It just happens to have similar themes. Paralleled thinking as it were
I really like the idea of the universe manifesting some movies. It would be out of character for the same degenerate production houses to also put out these profound pieces. The universe Intending it seems as plausible if not more likely than anything else. Dark City is definitely Matrix part one. For even more narrative background into the Matrix, "The Animatrix" is a must, especially now as it's storyline mirrors what's currently going on socially with AI and people being angry at it's effect on the arts and other industries.

Is memory itself, the thing and the capacity thereof an artificial construction, and that memories are a religion that binds us here, letting go of the memory is a memory wipe, the one thing we all fear. Death which is elimination memory, amnesia, it's that moment we get born again into whatever we allow ourselves to accept. So now is all there is if you do not choose to learn something as real. This is a screen, you accept this is a screen you are looking at. At one point you were told this is a screen and you accepted that and put it in memory. The hell is memory, habit, ritual, and routine that's what manifests a world, dream shit over and over until you know and remember the dream and are living it through memory. The future is dependent on memory, the future the way we were taught to think of in terms of what is manifested next.
Awesome analysis. Another movie, albeit lesser known and not as well made is the Ninth Gate with Johnny Depp. The number “9” representing the reincarnation loop (as anything multiplied by 9 can be reduced back to 9). Also, hence the number “9” house that the couple get trapped in in another film about archonic entities using humans for their energy Vivarium 2020.

“The Game” is another good one. My favorite scene is in the beginning when he enters the play of the game. He doesn’t realize it had started. He’s In a cab, the cabbie bails, gets trapped, cab goes off into the river and he’s freaking out how can he escape. Then he realizes he had this door handle in his pocket.
He had the solution the whole time!!
When he calmed down. Controlled his fear, he got out.
It’s been long time since I saw this, but that memory came up for me recently, so I searched for the Clip. Then I find a clip from “The Mask”in someone’s video.
It was the scene where The Mask draws a cartoon handle so he can flush the water down.
So he created his solution through his imagination. Manifested into his reality to solve his problem

I always thought Dark City was the most amazing sci-fi I had ever seen, and wondered why it didn't make more of a splash. In addition to its symbolic depth, it is a masterpiece of suspense, dialogue, characterization, atmospherics, and aesthetics. I sensed its significance at the time without understanding it.
That was a brilliant analysis! I would like to expand on what you said, although I will probably ramble some. (My apologies in advance.) One movie everyone seems to forget is The Thirteenth Floor, which came out the same year as The Matrix. It wasn't a raging success, but there are some occult meanings in it, as well. In that movie, there were several levels to the games. The humans on the top level created a lower level, which in turn, created a level, etc. They could enter these matrices at will and "possess" the characters. Another interesting thing about the top level is that their world was built on water - as if it were above "the firmament." In Westworld, the hosts were patterned after humans. I don't remember the quote, but Dolores alluded to the fact that because the hosts were created in their image, she saw the good in humanity. Even in Westworld, the "Man in Black" had his consciousness placed into a host, as did Bernard. In the Bible, it says "Let us make man in our image." What if we truly are in the image of our creators? And by that, I don't just mean looks; i mean character. I bring all of this up because it's very, very clear to me that as clownish as this realm is, whoever runs it has a very human-like sense of humor - often juvenile and very dark, but still human. I also believe the "elite" and their minions know exactly where we are and what's going on. It's a gut feeling. I don't think this place is an experiment and I'm not sure they're feeding off our energy. Perhaps they use us for entertainment, which would make this the most advanced video game one could imagine. Or maybe we are the players and when we leave, the game ends. The phrase "As above, so below" in this context makes a lot more sense. So does the term "higher self."

And 13 th Floor has a ton of stuff in there as well...yes this "created in their image" is something I have not taken enough time to explore and research, but now with what you said here I see that I should add that to what I am looking at over the next month. It was also interesting to note that both the agents in The Adjustment Bureau and the Strangers in Dark City had a distaste to water, probably alluding to their machine-like nature. But yes, Neo was fully expected by the Architect, which makes me wonder the Demiurge expects us to fight. There may no need to fight at all, but simply detach and leave.
I've been thinking that too. Neutrality and standing in our power is worth considering. Clearly the consciousness of humanity is being intentionally dumbed down and coralled. The controllers appear artificial and machine-like. My biggest question is how badly do they need us and what for? Also, what are they most threatened by?
Its also worth considering with the architect example you've brought up, that a highly advanced quantum computer could have crunched all the variables to be able to both predict and manipulate the future to its own end. If that's the case, our weapons may well be the weapon of faith and belief as these are variables which are difficult to quantify and predict. Following one's heart may be the key to it all.

This gives my age away (sorta), I owned Dark City on VHS tape originally. I bought it shortly after seeing it in the Theater and being blown away. My ex-wife (now) thought I was losing it (then), she couldn't understand what I saw in the film, which I've since replaced with a DVD version in my collection.

The original Blade Runner did some of these themes as well. The replicant Rachel had memories implanted that were actually someone else's. They were so real to her she didn't question them. Only when she did the test to reveal a true human did she realize she wasn't one. In this world it rains nonstop and the way out was "Off World".

I had that same feeling of thinking I went through an awakening when really it was just the beginning. It’s a constant journey of de-programming and getting to the true self.
The only advice I can give is to follow your heart. Each of our journeys is unique for us and it will do you no good following someone else exactly. Of course videos like this and other guides are welcome but don’t take anything for absolute truth unless you have experienced it yourself. Be fearless too. Don’t worry if you seem crazy to others or even your own mind, it’s part of de-attaching from this upside down world. Anyway that’s what’s helped me, I’m still on my own journey as well
@@creatorworlds3424 I would advise something similar. It is very difficult to not have a solid foundation of beliefs because it can make you feel crazy. This is why I feel you must always return to the heart, since too much time in the mind can also make you go crazy. The healthiest one can potentially do is detach from the world. If you truly want to be ready to leave, then there cannot be anything here holding you back. This still means you can act out of love and kindness towards others because it’s simply a more enjoyable experience to do so.

Yes I agree. It was one of the reasons I wanted to put something in my book beyond just "here is the cave" but some ideas of what to do about it. Perhaps part of the whole thing is just to keep people distracted exploring the cave endlessly, never thinking "but what about an exit door."

Something like this happened to me and my ex once. We woke up one morning feeling like we had been turned on, as if by a switch being flicked. It wasn't a normal waking up. Howdie, that was very thoughtful. I instantly saw those films were captured by a palimpsest. They were a rewriting, and an over writing, of the theme of awakening. I could see them as avenues created by David Bowman entering the ‘monolith’ at the end of 2001. And as for the theme of ‘false enlightenment’ leading to ‘false awakenings,’ the film Enter The Void deals with these themes in a much more brutal, but no less a phantasmagoric, manner. It may be fascinating for you to consider this later film as a part of this palimpsest. It features a character who enters into a Bardo state and it’s consequences, and ends in a paradoxical way in rebirth. But is it out of the womb, or matrix, of rebirth? Fascinating insight you have captured. Thank you!
Nice analysis! Dark City always reminded me of Edward Hopper's "Nighthawks" painting. Throughout the years, many viewers of the painting have noted the powerful emotions that it seems to evoke. Feelings of loneliness, isolation, alienation. Even dread. All of which are very much in line with the overall mood of Dark City.

Talk about coincidence, I just finished watching 1899 on Netflix and the in the show DIRECTLY REFERENCES PLATOS CAVE! Not going to give spoilers but it is in the vein of the movies talked about here.
1899 is the most expensive german show produced. Netfliix partly sponsored it but the German Motion Picture Fund gave it 10M Euros; the largest it has given to a project and it's not even a movie!
And it is distinct (for me, that is) that the characters talk in their native language based on their nationality in the show. So the german crew speak German, the spaniards talk in spanissh, etc. etc. And for me, I don't even find it confusing, thanks to the subtitles haha.
The makers of 1899 made DARK also on Netflix which I think is better, not taking away that 1899 is still a decent watch.

Hi Howdie. I just caught your THC interview and I was moved by something you said and wanted to reach out. You go into the allegory of the cave and you speak about the layers of deception on the reasons of why we are in the cave, and the fact that in all our manipulated mockingbird teachings (oral, written, and visual) no one stands up on their own and escapes the cave, they are either taken out of the cave by someone else or some other scenario. You go on to talk about the dread that comes from this, the dread that comes from knowing that no matter how far you go down the labyrinth of discovery of the nature of our reality, you never truly know if it’s you standing up, or if its something else dragging you out making you see it wants you to see.
You talk about how you want out of this soul school sometimes. And Greg who I have always known to vibe with exactly the intent of the guest and nail it, and never really guide from personal bias, didn’t really meet you in that bleak place you were speaking about. Which was surprising. He talked about how he hasn’t had personal loss in his life that can help him understand where you are at in your journey. Meanwhile we all live in this hellscape of life. We all ignore the hell that this life truly is for our own sanity. The endless questions get exhausting. And sometimes as you rightly said you just want to go home….
Home, to an understanding of it all, the cosmic laugh. The oh…That’s what it all was.

What we call “the world” (ever changing experiences that seem to happen in tine and space) in is in fact a reflection of the incessant activity pf the mind that needs to hold on to something seemingly “else than itself” to confirm its existence. we seemengly cannot get out of the cave because we unconsciously are fascinated by it and we don’t realize that we are co-creators of it. The “trick “ is to redirect our attention away from the “outside” experiences and direct it to the source of creation within : the stilness/consciousness/ beingness of which the mind itslef is a product (and not the other way around). That’s why you can’t think your way out of the cave. You can only awaken from it. Once identification with ego is realized there is no one that is reincarneted and no one affected by karma anymore. In fact the “cave” none other than the result (an outside projection) of being identified with the body/mind.

Just my first thoughts here where I intuitively must say, 'you cannot exit' from in here, because it's a trap. Another thing is, that when you look at the sky, maybe all those stars, the lights in the night-sky are simply visible, because 'they are holes punched into the veil'? while behind 'this shield' it's a complete ocean of light altogether?...
This would explain why the main structure of the night-sky (as the wheel/the canopy turns 😉) stays the same. ... hmmmm?

I see a pattern in all movies. Anyone who experienced narcissism will know what I'm talking about .
At first evil was cosealed in movies, presenting the victim responsible for all the misunderstandings and problems, making it feel guilty and at the end of the movie, the concealed evil protagonist would forgive the victim and they got married.
Nowadays the evil protagonist is not concealed any more, but is presented as a troubled soul that has empathy,so you should forgive him. Like bullet train protagonist or spirited protagonist.
Where I'm getting at, with all the above is that npcs were concealed and you took the blame at the past. Now npcs are exposed so you are supposed to feel pity for them.
Conclusion: they fed of our guilt in the past, now they feed of our compation.
Indifference and of course not believing them, will probably starve them off.
I think they can't survive if they show their real self, that's why all these lies.
If a preditor has no prey to eat, it dies.
We must collectively wake up and they will disappear.
If no-one believed them back at 2020 what would they have done?

The consequences of our individual choices of behavior, conscious or unconscious, co-manifest, proportionately, in our collective human experience. We are perpetuating this unnatural parasitic slave construct by OUR free will choices through a false belief in authority and moral relativism, that only exist within this illusory, unnatural simulation that we, to our own demise, continue to perpetuate as long as we continue to engage and capitulate within it.. We are forgetful that separateness is an illusion. It is with forgetfulness that we consent to that which causes harm to others and possess a false belief in the authority of others. Our consent is always our choice, despite the illusion of fear. Moraliity/Truth/Natural Law is not subjective.
Given Natural Law, the archons/parasitic simulators MUST have our acquiescence to that which initiates harm to ourselves and others (war, circumcision, carnism, abortion, jabs, etc), iOW, self-servingly emulating them,. the antithesis of Natural Law/Prime Creator/Truth/Reality, so that we perpetuate their illusory matrix. It is only when we reconnect with Nature, align to Natural Law in our individual choices, that this simulation ceases to exist, proportionately, The more the merrier.. The simulators are totally dependent on us forgetting that we are divine co-creators, with free will choices governed by eternal Natural Law, not government, religion or usury. Our consent is everything! Illusory hell or natural heaven, is always our individual choice. Natural Law -> Empathy/Service to others -> heaven/authentic freedom. Moral relativism/Service to self? -> illusory hell/slave simulation.
Perfectly said. Howdie misses the simplicity of the metaphor: the city is dark and oppressive, while shell beach, as a metaphor for nature, represents freedom. Humans are imprisoned in civilization, through our learned dependence on it, and deliberate brainwashing to make us forget the true way. Howdie has succumbed to the lie that shell beach never existed, despite all our genetic memories screaming that it did and does. The transformation of an ethical, healthy hunter gatherer into a serial killer represents the ultimate triumph of civilization.

Great analysis. I wonder if Minority Report's John Anderton is an aside to these movies. You have the bald psychics who reside in water. The manipulation of events which have been overseen by John Anderton watching a screen and using his hands like a conductor. When John sees himself in the screen and the lady who is watching from another screen says, " I don't know what I'm looking at or something like that.
There is even a link to the Jason Bourne movies. When Jason Bourne is found floating in water and rescued he has no clue as to his real identity

Dark City 1998 = 666 X 3 I saw the movie in Munich and was very impressed.
My companions not at all what irritated me again but I was also secret R.Steiner reader at that time.The predecessor of Matrix? That is an ingenious conclusion...
Not only it's predecessor in story but the Matrix literally reused some of the city sets that were built for Dark City!

From William Gibson's view, whose books were said to be the foundation for the Matrix, Johnny Mnemonic, a character from another of his novels was the prototype for Neo, and that Neo was the perfection of his predecessor. What's interesting is that in the movies, Keanu Reeves portrays both Johnny Mnemonic, and later, Neo. Also I think the casing of all men for the strangers has three reasons: dark sorcerers or priesthoods throughout time from Sumer to Canaan to Carthage and through to present have been men. Most secret societies are Fraternal Orders. And well... Most of Hollywood puts from the rough. So you potentially have Mystery Babylon archetypes being portrayed as the strangers, and Hollywood is shares their affinity for sodomy. It's a little disturbing that a child is one of the strangers, the only one that appears to express emotions, albeit only sadistic pleasure in his work. That means it's a dead child if they are using bodies as vessels. It's a form of subconscious trauma for an empathetic audience to see. Myself counted in that. It's unsettling.

Just now listening to this analysis video however, I've pointed to this move as one of my all time favorites for many years. It suggests the power of the individual like no other. It's more of a documentary than science fiction in that the arc of the protagonist is one of the True Spiritual Student to outgrow and escape what Christ calls "this world." The goal of dissolving the prison of time/space through Realization of the Real Self.

Another thing about the adjustment Bureau that I don't think a lot of people picked up on the symbolism of, Is that Matt Damon's character basically frees the devil from the basement. The devil, as I view him, becomes the new chairman, and basically imprisons the old chairman, the white-haired Caucasian (God?) And of course for his part in releasing the dark "man" the basement, Matt Damon gets what he wants. Who knows what he just unleashed on the world, but hey, at least he's happy, for now. Because I've noticed on all the movies are decoded that there's this universal rhythm we're like the villain plays a good guy. The good guy plays the villain and there's a lot of like weirdness to it. I was trying to figure out who the Dutch brothers are in this.
The Matrix was written in the early 90s so I dont think it took anything from Dark City. It just happens to have similar themes. Paralleled thinking as it were
I really like the idea of the universe manifesting some movies. It would be out of character for the same degenerate production houses to also put out these profound pieces. The universe Intending it seems as plausible if not more likely than anything else. Dark City is definitely Matrix part one. For even more narrative background into the Matrix, "The Animatrix" is a must, especially now as it's storyline mirrors what's currently going on socially with AI and people being angry at it's effect on the arts and other industries.
There is a filmstudio called „Universe Films“ (or something similar) too, so it could have been the studio he meant, they made films like „eXistenZ“

Is memory itself, the thing and the capacity thereof an artificial construction, and that memories are a religion that binds us here, letting go of the memory is a memory wipe, the one thing we all fear. Death which is elimination memory, amnesia, it's that moment we get born again into whatever we allow ourselves to accept. So now is all there is if you do not choose to learn something as real. This is a screen, you accept this is a screen you are looking at. At one point you were told this is a screen and you accepted that and put it in memory. The hell is memory, habit, ritual, and routine that's what manifests a world, dream shit over and over until you know and remember the dream and are living it through memory. The future is dependent on memory, the future the way we were taught to think of in terms of what is manifested next.
So life is a dream, our real life is us in the dream state. Our memories are the death or sleep from our real world of spontaoues creation?
