Just realizing this car looks much smaller on camera than it is in person... It's not quite the rally-infused GT-Four Celicas we loved from the 90s, but it's a crazy affordable daily that's all too capable. Enjoy!
Recently had a 2 gen at the garage and its legit. but we put it against a sf5 forester sti and loss but It held its own. But there's lots of cars likes these ppl don't know exist like the airtrek which was the outlander in the states and many more. #DontRaiseThePrice
I have a Caldina GT4 that looks exactly the same as the one in the video on the outside, same blue and even has the factory fitted optional roof rails. I also have a Honda Civic FD2 and was surprised to find out that the Honda is actually wider and longer than the Caldina. The Caldina is roomy - I throw a couple of bikes in the back easily, along with loads of other stuff. It's a bit of a Tardis really - bigger inside than outside.
Owned a 2004 N Spec wagon back when I lived in NZ a few years ago. Great wagon, but ruined by the 4 speed slushbox. Very common for owners of these to swap in the manual from the previous gen Caldina (GT4 ST215)
@@Andy-qp7eq"unjustified hatred"?? It's not not that. Have you driven this car and one manual swapped? It's night and day, modern automatics can be very good, the Caldina one not so much.
yo im liking the introduction bit at the beginning of the video. it was well done & it set up the stage for the driving phase very well. great job as usual, dude. keep it up!
i own a 2005 toyota caldina gtfour and have loved owning it. have never had problems with it and it gets up and boggies. i’ve raced a few people and they’ve always been confused and asked me what it was lmao
Yup. Best car I've owned and I[ve been through a fair number of cars. I like it so much that I've been driving it for over 10 years. Can't imagine what I'd swap it for. Everything seems to be going to CVT in my region. I may well simply stick with my Caldina long enough for it to be classified as vintage.
im loving the 02 n edition i currently own. mods that the car now has is coilovers, flexfuel conversion, catback exhaust is on its way :) cant wait to enjoy the upcoming years with it
US$6000 fresh off of the import boat from Japan here where I live. I'm mighty tempted. There's not much in that price range around here that's reliable, practical and fast.
I’d love to see you review an Ht81s Suzuki Swift or Ignis Sport from the early 2000s they are FWD 1.5 vvt short ratio manual. I think you’d get a kick out of it.
Ironically I own a caldina gt four n like in the video, but also another car I own is a Suzuki Ignis sport. Both great cars. The other fun car I have is a Toyota Glanza v P sport, that one is tuned quite a bit tho 😅
Its crazy how caldinas, airtreks and foresters even the mitsubishi colt are seen everyday on my island but no one talks about them on the internet but we tune the hell out of them for so cheap.
I have owned and use it for past 10 years (N-Spec). Beside wear and tear, it bear Toyota durability tagline and the maintenance like normal car as long as no crazy modification. The only downside is “brake” and “4 speed auto gearbox”. If they could put in brembo like those Scooby and Evo that will be great, because I could sense the original braking system sometimes can’t match the fast braking. Even though it almost 20 years, it still has a fresh look if compare on those European car at that time. Sadly it is an underrated car in comparison with other legendary JDM and believe this is one of the most powerful Toyota at that time because it rule by Subaru and Evo.
Have had mine for 4 years now, still love it... Except the damn auto box and the oh so common cracked exhaust manifold! Upgraded to an st205 manifold and ct26 turbo, which solved one of the problems.
Hey, im interested in picking one of these up. This problem you mentioned is this common? How much does it cost to replace? Are these are reliable as regular toyotas?
@@leftylooks-sm8cr I've seen quite a few cracked manifolds but also have seen many with no issues at all with nearly 200,000km. Otherwise it's pretty typical Toyota reliability. Parts are just a bit harder to find being an import.
