Boeing 787 Dreamliner was my most wanted LEGO set since I was a kid. I finally bought one used in really good condition at the beginning of the pandemic. Sadly I don't have a good place to keep it, but definitely a favorite set of mine.
I just shed a single tear after hearing someone say that Lego DACTA was "uninteresting". They are the only series of sets that I collect / piece together. I didn't have the typical experience since I was homeschooled and spent many years drooling over the Lego DACTA catalogs. I had a few sets but most were far too expensive. I will say it makes perfect sense that they cost much more than normal sets. I can't begin to explain it all here but they sold at a lower volume than traditional sets and had an incredible amount of work put in to them. Each set had multiple builds teaching different concepts and had thick teachers guides / lesson plans that were sold alongside them, not to mention software. Also the chapter in the video is misspelled as "dakta" 😅
22:30 video: “maybe late ‘70s, early ‘80s” Me: the graphic design of that box is late ‘60s, maybe early ‘70s. Bricklink: 1969 Me: nailed it! 😁 Also, I want those letter bricks. Dunno if I want them $50 worth, however.
18:33 let me say something: IF the pricetag is from a shop in Brazil, it is written in portuguese. We do not speak spanish in Brazil. We speak portuguese. "Nós não falamos espanhol no Brasil. Nós falamos português".
23:52 Picked that up myself at NYCC, but never got a chance to get it autographed. Only $40 beans but now, regular in box is around $350- sans autograph. The designer is Marcos Bessa. He designed the big UCS Helicarrier. He was at NYCC.
Another teacher at my school gave me about 10 to 15 LEGO dacta sets! They came in yellow containers and had instructions. And one of them that was huge in a red container.
That first set: there were two versions, both released the same year, with a tiny change in the build, and the other one was in a regular box. I don’t know how “limited” that limited edition version is-it was the one I saw the most, but I remember seeing the other version later in the year. But splitting a set run between two different packaging surely makes both versions rarer than a typical/comparable set from the theme or era.
I got the lunar lander 10029 at quite a amazing price from a charity shop here in the uk. New in bags with instructions (just no box) apart from that brand new. And I paid the massive price of £2.49.
This is very interesting. Everyone has a different way to define what 'rare' is. I am surprised to not see a few sets in this compilation: the marina bay architecture set, the mars rover, the Hayabusa, the Shinkai 6500. Those sets are very rare and valuable. I guess the limiting factor is their presence, or lack thereof at the store.
Is there a European Lego collectors market and do they have different sets that are more collected over there? What are the differences in collectibles between the two (if there is an Asian market- maybe there are multiple differences between collectibles).
I'm surprised they didn't show the small kit behind them from SDCC...77903: The Dark Knight of Gotham City. That one goes for like $500 - $600 right now. I believe those are rare too? But not sure.

I’m a new teacher and one of the older teachers at my school knew I love legos. And she gave me about 10 - 15 LEGO facts sets for free.

Incredible sets. Always fascinating to see old gems!
I just found the little dragon the other day! Got this set for my birthday when it came out, but it has been in the bin for over 15 years.
The Panama canal is awesome. I love how the Speed Champions show the car they're built to mimic

If the shop is from a neighbor country, fine.
Was digging in a bin that was donated to me from a friend and found the viking long boat base, mast and sail.

Those black bushings are very useful for Bionicle MOCs, which is why they're usually gutted.
I also have the vikings one. I think. Might have sold it a long time ago. Need to go check.

Star Wars is real - it was just a really long time ago and really far far away.
Rio 2016 set going on for 250 bucks here in Brazil lol
I have the boeing dreamliner set they showed in the video. The box is almost perfect condition. Been sitting in a tote, sealed up.

Star Wars is real, it’s just that it occurred a long, long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.
Crazy. I was here about 2 weeks ago and remember seeing that anniversary bucket thinking “who would buy this?”.
The designer who signed the con exclusive brickheadz is the awesome Marcos Bessa :)
Have the 40225 - they sold them at the Olympics Venues, never saw them elsewhere.

Great video. I didn't realize how expensive the education set got..
Dr. House has several cool sets!
How much for set 400025?
Signed porta-potty definitely worth more lol

Cool
Nice ^w^
Alphabet tile bricks returned recently, in one of the Lego Dots sets.
I think with the custom made none official sets you missed the topic of this video. According to this every moc can make it to place 1 of such lists.
I had the airplane one but I broke it fr

the dreamliner is not rare at all. many used one sold on ebay for $150-200
Signed by the designer but I don’t know who the designer is…..so just a random scribble then 😢
it's 1969 for the alphabet bricks :)
spanish in brazil.... big oof
