The state needs to stay out of people's lives, however if they wanted to let people camp around his property and hunt bears that should be fair game too. I like that he can live how he wants but I also like that people can shoot bears on public land.

You just never know how a bear is going to react.
I'm truly baffled at the hypocrisy. Bears mainly attack humans because they are afraid of us, and try to defend themselves or their cubs, but people condemn what Charlie Vandergaw does, feeding the bears and reducing the fear that bears have of humans, under the guise that this will create more bear attacks. In fact, what this man is doing is REDUCING the chance of bear attacks by showing that bears don't need to be afraid of humans. Though we do hunt for sport which WILL make more bear attacks.
Those few square meters for the house inmidst thousands of acres of nature. It is our ALL space or are we supposed to move to the moon. Only a certain physical distance is required once in a while like at night or when they have cubs or we have small children. Simply respect certain rules in nature and you will be respected too. He actually believes that he’s not hurting anyone?!, really? Number one, he is harming the bears because he is habituating these bears and if he dies then who will feed them then? Number two, he is creating a situation where these bears are viewing all humans as source of food so any human becomes a food source. And three, when these bears become a nuisance they will be killed. So he is actually hurting humans that have no say and he is giving these bears a death sentence
Im 70 , no way I could start to do what he does, diabetes has slowed me to a craw , having bad time with feet and legs but I'm with him , at our age a person should do what they want to, if you die , you die
I just don't understand this crap! Bears have been raiding anything they could get into for years! This guy is simply giving them their own space. Us humans for years have been taking away their homes and land. Do these people not get it?
Man these bears are gonna be bears in the long run and they're gonna end up eating these people as soon as they stop feeding , The bear this guy's gonna feed the bears no matter how bad the bears want to eat him up
It would be wonderful if we could just walk up to any ole' bear we wanted to, and give them a big cuddle, and a few treats, just like we can do with our beloved pets at home, but no, they are wild and totally unpredictable. Not only that, but each bear is different some by nature, some by species, and yet others by circumstances at the time. Just like humans, they may not always be in a good mood, or trust, and think like humans do. They may react instinctively at any given moment, and for any number of reasons, which could result in injury or death to any animal or human in close proximity. For these reasons, it would be nearly impossible to predict the outcome of an encounter with any wild animal, let alone bears. Feeding bears could habitualize them into seeking out food around human camps, and housing, with a large potential for disasterous results. I think it's appauling to bait animals to be hunted for fun, and those who do this are NOT brave at all, they are just cruel, uncaring cowards. The bears should be left to their own natural devices, to forage as nature intended. Feeding also has the potential to draw animals together into closer proximity to each other than they might otherwise have been, increasing the danger of tensions, stress, and communicable diseases to be spread, or violent clashes between animals causing injuries or death to other animals, or even to humans. We should all be very aware of the potential risks of indiscriminate interactions with wild animals, not only for our own safety, but also giving strong consideration to the health and safety of the animals that share our environment.
Damm I hope this man doesn't become another a Timothy Treadwell, he's damm lucky to be alive n I just don't see anyone doing what he's doing. I just hope they don't travel to other people's cabin.
killing an animal is just like killing an human theres no diference even tho i come from a hunter family i wish no more then live with the animals... id give up Everything to live with wolves or bears. but the rest of my family hunt mose or "älg" in Swedish.. i dont give 2fks iw Always loved esp wolves and i dould offer the rest of my life to live with em! but bear do amaze me.. their grade in the nature is amazingly high. and the way they live. esp here i northern sweden. they sleep almoust 7 months a year! if you dont belive me? COME WATCH! they are just Amazing... tho whe have Brown and black bears no Grizzlies!
Bakeon* --- I tried living with a 3/4 wolf dog once...Boy, did that NOT work out. It tore all of my blinds off the windows, looking for an escape route, and chewed a big hole in a very expensive leather chair that I owned. Still, it wasn't her fault. She was a wolf...Not a Golden Retriever. Finally found a good sancturary, for her to go to, where she could live out a good life with other wolf dogs.
If you truly love bears, then humans need to stop being selfish and let them stay wild. They are not our friends… they are amazing wild animals. Because of his regular interactions with these bears, an entire Bear family may have to be euthanized just so one guy wants to bond with them. If you truly love bears, scare them when they come around humans, including yourself.
I see nothing wrong with a bait site to study and watch them, but if he feeds them all the time the cubs wont learn how to survive on their own its a sticky situation.
Lol..!!! Camera guy: " I really shouldn't be ALONE in the Woods with nothing more than a Camera , a Stick and a Grizzly." .....Yeah THINK..???

He actually believes that he’s not hurting anyone?!, really? Number one, he is harming the bears because he is habituating these bears and if he dies then who will feed them then? Number two, he is creating a situation where these bears are viewing all humans as source of food so any human becomes a food source. And three, when these bears become a nuisance they will be killed. So he is actually hurting humans that have no say and he is giving these bears a death sentence
HIS CHOICE TO LIVE LIKE HES LIVING.
CHARLIE IS A GROWN MAN, BUT IF CHARLIE IS IN HIS RIGHT MIND, THN GUESS IT'S HIS CHOICE
Do these people not get it?
humans have to kill anything that moves shame,This man was indeed a lovely person.
Is he dead? What was his last name?

Everyone who believes that grizzlies can't climb trees needs to see this about the 11 minute mark :)
Man these bears are gonna be bears in the long run and they're gonna end up eating these people as soon as they stop feeding , The bear this guy's gonna feed the bears no matter how bad the bears want to eat him up
Seeing the intro....how the fcuk are Grizzly and Black Bear tolerating each other? Don't Grizzly hunt Black Bears???
All he is doing is setting his beloved bears up for killing. Damn hunters bait animals to murder them. He’s helping the pos hunters
Så att döda en ren är samma sak som att döda en människa? Let me guess..du är vegan.
Could just feed birds, deer, dogs, cats... why u gotta feed bears lol
Proud animal killer at 19:11 .
He does not have the constitutional right to mess up the eco system
I see nothing wrong with a bait site to study and watch them, but if he feeds them all the time the cubs wont learn how to survive on their own its a sticky situation.
