- If you’re a corporate executive lamenting the recent declines in worker productivity, there’s a pretty easy fix: Pay your employees a wage that 👏 actually 👏 reflects 👏 their 👏 labor! (via akestriarose on TikTok)

FINALLY!
I've said it forever. In 50 years, productivity has gone up
Wages have not.
The only people who dont want to work anymore are thr business owners!
I've been saying this forever (I'm 45) and it is soooo refreshing that this is FiNALLY get the platform it deserves.
A message to all employers. You get what you pay for.
You explained the whole concept beautifully. I tend to think the same way about the situation. What corporate America doesn't seem to understand is that the kids today are much more astute than they were when their leaders were younger. I think this is a good thing because they have to protect themselves more.
Thanks to technology, productivity can remain relatively high due in some sectors like financial and IT, where I could see it drop in more manual labor work like factories and retail. The exploitation of employees is pretty disgusting at this point in the US and the importance is tilted heavily to shareholders, which is absurd. If these companies don't want to pay fair wages, then at least agree to Senator Sanders 32 hour work week (full pay) and give us some time back.
There paying the illeagles really well
Always look out for the employees
The graph she is talking about is from "Raising America’s Pay: Why It’s Our Central Economic Policy Challenge" (Bivens et al. 2014)
A house that I bought in an unremarkable neighborhood in 1986 for 35k (roughly 92k today's $) sold for 241k in 2021.
Inflation and the decimated value of the dollar are bigger problems than wage slide.
All 3 issues are a result of the corporatization of America- and both R and D have sold us all down the river.
The funny part is that when you are extra productive you`ll get punished for it by being given more work to do for the same pay. There is no benefit side to being productive these days.
And then when you're no longer useful to them they'll replace you with more productive workers
I agree with this. If I can’t survive with the paycheck, don’t ask me to do the maximum while you lazy people steal from the workers
The productivity should go down if people start working bare minimum. If so, the chart should show the trend too. If not, something is seriously happening.
Spot on
I would attribute a certain large part of the decline of productivity being a by product of companies, paring back employees, combining jobs of multiple people and lack of hiring, was just burning people out. They didn't care about turnover because there were legions of people to just grateful to have a job. Companies have also been scaling back benefits across the board for years.
Same in Australia.
No self-respecting employee would increase their productivity for low wages unless they're incarcerated or migrant workers, neither having any other choice. I've owned numerous businesses where my employees were paid well, they had good benefits, and they in turn did their work to the highest standard. It should never be about making huge profits off of others' time and labor.
it's called trickle down economics because it used to pour down but the tap was shut off. plus we're not being productive if we're out protesting just to get paid fairly. every industry has had to go on strike in the past few years and wages have barely gone up. they went up back when Bernie fought for $15, and they're going up again in July because Biden needs to buy votes. we have to fight to raise wages, but interest rates and inflation raises every year. crypto, meme stocks, OF and gofundme are how people are getting by because jobs are not paying living wages.
Citation Needed. While I agree, there's no "beautiful graph" or named source. An otherwise agreeable argument, but cite your sources, please
Don't be lazy. Do some research. Everything she said is supported by facts and it wouldn't take much effort to look it up.
I think yall don't understand what really happened.
Instead of needing to hire someone to do specialized labor industrialized companies can do the same thing with less unspeciaalized labor.
So even if you do know how to make quality clothes you'll never be able to compete with the people who can hire a bunch of lazy idiots and outproduce you anyways.
This is why companies can make so much, because the margin of what they need and what they produce is wider.
Just imagine what you'd have to do to compete with a shipping company right now. 2 day delivery on everything while your major operations are run by high-school drop outs.
Require less and produce more. We all win that way so the biggest reward goes to those who figure it out.
That sounds like a bunch of bullsh!t. Akestriarose's explanation was articulate, well-researched, and supported by facts and data. That nonsense you spewed still has brown smudges from when you pulled it out of your @ss.
You can make the data say anything when you cherry pick the data.
The following comment got removed/shadowbanned. I'm attempting to repost it by playing around with the words....
*The mid-cla, ss has shrunk the most under successive D pre, sidencies, most of all under Josrph B.*
Stop the cen, sor, ship! Let ppl speak!
If your boss is an A*******,DON'T WORK FOR "HIM"❤
I’ve also noticed that as the world has become “easier” people have become more and more lazy.
what benefit is there in allocating 2 hours to do the dishes when it takes ten minutes to load a dishwasher? is it lazy to use tools? were paleolithic hunters being lazy when they started using bows instead of throwing spears?
Comment based on absolutely no data. Your opinions are irrelevant. 😘
Let me be lazy and I’ll let you be an extra hard worker to make up for it, deal? 😊
Way to out your ignorance and lack of perspective.
Good job w the self own?
Cheers
How is wanting to be payed for the amount of profit I make the company everyday make me lazy? You conservatives have really dropped the whole plot haven't you?
