Mikey, When you candled the egg, you didn't candle from underneath so you could see veins clearly. Also, candling from underneath you would see any mass in the egg and any redish colour around that is usually a sign of something living inside. It does look like there is veins from the angles you shone the light in from the sides, it also has a mass at the bottom of the egg that the light isn't travelling through, which is usually a good way to confirm if anything is alive in the egg. And the sealed cut that's black on the top of the egg, could be an accidental pip from something moving around with some strength inside, if the animal isn't formed into a solid body, the soft liquid egg tissue is known to seal eggs that have been accidentally pipped from inside and keeping the animal safe. If it was a dead egg, you would be able to smell it when you get near Pantdora, and definitely when you open the door and remove the soil off the egg. Because you haven't, you have a live egg. The question is, what's in it? Does it have legs or not. It's too big for a sailfin lizard egg. Could be a smaller monitor egg? I'm not sure it's big enough to be a larger species of monitor. I truly believe you have a snake. That was Dingo's opinion to. It's more the size of a small snake's egg, as well as the shape is more of a snake egg shape. A lizard egg, atleast all the lizard eggs I've had were long and thick, other than beardie eggs which are a bit bigger than finch eggs which I also raised. That egg, although thick, like a small monitors egg, it's still long, which in most cases is a snake. Please..be careful putting your hands in Pantdora, we don't want you getting bit by something venomous. Hmmmm, ya know. It was laying on the surface in the air, could have been buried in the soil to keep it warm in the sun, but the rain you had could have washed the soil away. You might have a Tabon in the egg. Tabon are from the Megapodes group of birds, and they are found in the Philippines. I've seen them driving from Mandaluyong to Batangas and in Tagaytay. Your place being in Cavite...not that far away. I've also seen Tabon in cages as pets kept outside in Mandaluyong. Their eggs would be about the size of your egg. Hmmmmmmmm??? Wait, really? It's been obvious dead since he found it. I've been thinking the exact opposite, it's the least drama ever and I am mostly annoyed by treating it like it IS drama when it isn't.

That tribute notice near the end floored me. I hadn't heard about him passing, and looking up the details was a bit eerie... Steve Irwin died in September, at the age of 44. Dingo Dinkelman (AKA, South Africa's Steve Irwin) got bit in September, at the age of 44...
Here to bring attention to the unspoken sub-story: AC's work out routine. Ambient backlighting doing us all favors and showing us his sweet gains. The cake is not a lie.
I continually wonder about this too. How can he be such a nerd (in the best sense of the word), edit such magnificent videos, care for ALL his terrariums and animals AND STILL have time to work out and have that gains.
RIP Dingo Dinkelman! Noticed from the credits and looked up in the net and came to know what happened to him. Very sad. I then watched the mystery egg video where he was talking about what egg it could be. So sad he is gone now !
this was one of the best episodes for me so far, the balance between the story and the technical stuff and also some crazy cinematic shots like the crab hunting, amazing episode
been here since the golden empire and i have to say this is probably the best series yet (but could we also get a update episode soon on the other ants like the fire ants
AC: “Welcome to your new home little rhino beetle grubs! Enjoy!” ❤️❤️ Grubs being attacked by ants: “AHHHHHH!!! AHHHHH THE PAIN!! THE PAINNNNN!!! WHY??!! WHYYYY!!! AHHHH-“
Hey don't be too discouraged about the egg. If there's anything I've learned from your channel, is that nature always finds a way. That said, if you are thinking that there might be something inside the egg, maybe it would be best to take it out alongside some pandoran soil to incubate it. That way you can contain the creature if it hatches or return the egg back to the soils if it's clearly rotting. Just remember to moisturize it every now and then, I imagine it'll be a much easier way to tell if it's rotting if you can smell it too
I want to throw this out here now: you cannot release snip and snap. Yes, they are more prepared for the wild than a true pet, but they are not even remotely prepared for actual nature. They have never even *seen* an arboreal or airborn predator. They have no tools or knowledge to deal with that.
Ok but what does that have to do with anything in this video or this channel. I swear some of y'all want validation and to feel included so bad you'll do and say anything. How about go to his channel and say something. Good fkn lord.
Those might have been pip markings, but I couldn't tell if there was anything inside due to the candling. Snakes make small cuts and slices in the egg to hatch. Might still want to keep checking on it for a while, and check hatching videos for snakes and lizards for comparison to your mystery egg.
Yeah! If the egg was rotting, it would feel different, harder and bloated This egg just seems to be from a thick shell egg laying species. Perhaps a lizard of some kind? I really really hope it hatches! It really looked like there was something inside, so many darker spots
For me it looked red and that would mean there is a life inside also telling is that when candled from down was dark and top was red. Also there is a change in color between first and second candling.
I don't really know a lot about keeping a vivarium full of living creatures and environment, but I genuinely want to know why you thought there was nothing you could have done about the rhino beetle grubs. Was it not possible to pull them out of there? And also wouldn't it be better to poke the ground before putting them there just to check if it's safe? Sorry if this question might upset you cos I'm sure you didn't mean to do that, but as a layman I don't understand how it couldn't have been possible to get them out of the vivarium and into safety instead of letting burrow underground into their deaths. And again, I'm not trying to confront you about it, I'm just genuinely curious, cos it was quite upsetting to see them dying like that.
So i found your other vlog and after like 5min on google i learned so much about you! I had no idea you had so much going on outside of the ant business. It makes me even more appreciative of the content you put on here.

Hi Mikey, RJ, and staff! It's been awhile. Things have been busy with teaching and I also bought the condo I've been living in and you know what a crazy, stressful process closing can be but I finished on Halloween! 🙌🏼👻 As for the egg... they can take a pretty long time to break down. Because the shells have to be porous to allow for air exchange... the white/clear part of the egg contains strong antibacterial properties. It's pretty cool. BTW... I too am having an issue with the pump in the river tank in my classroom lab and it really needs to work for the health of the 3 section riparian ecosystem. I use a pump that feeds into the back behind the rock wall and then goes to the upper pond before cascading down to the other two sections. But after 15 years suddenly the pump is working its way out of the hole the nozzle fits into hole of the plastic rock wall due to vibrations. I'm going to the hardware store today to look for a rubber gasket that might help hold it.
Great to see snip and snap doing well ❤ i felt so bad about yhe grubs, poor things. How is this show not on TV and streaming? This would be a hit worldwide on nature channels, or even childrens channels for educational purposes. Im perplexed that major television networks havent been trying to buy the rights to this.
@gianagigliotti6826 oh, I should hope so. However, I meant *THIS VERY SHOW* would be huge on TV as its storyline based, extremely educational, easy to understand and is tailored to an audience of all age ranges. I think this would be absolutely perfect for television audiences, genuinely. If I were a scout for the like of national geographic, or the nature channel, then I would be contacting my bosses and raving about this show to them as I know there's a market there for it.

As soon as I saw you had a plush for sale I went straight over to purchase it but sadly £100 is way too much for me.... That's a month's worth of gas for my home sadly. I hope someday you consider making them more affordable for us working class subscribers 🙏🏻 Edit. I should have mentioned that £50 was for delivery, but tbh £50 for a plush is still rather high. I love supporting RUclipsrs I follow, but this is a lot. I just got Moriah Elizabeth's plush and hers was only £10 and her limited edition playing cards was £25 this is affordable for me. But I'm sure he has his reasons behind his pricing, I'm just hoping in the future the price lowers, I'd love to have a lady death strike a Godzilla and snip too if he ever brought more out, failing that theres always eBay lol
Another great episode 👏 I really hope we see the Rhino beetles emerge later in the series. If enough survived, then perhaps they will be able to start a new population of them. That would be so cool. I still feel like you need a mouse, though without a natural predator, I would suggest just 1 and not a mating pair, or you'll soon have hundreds of them.

The problem is.. a 27min video only feels like 5mins!! I'm always left wanting more🤔... thanks for the great content 👍🏻
Agree!!
That's because there's A LOT of vocal filler and repeated information. These 27 mins only have about 10 mins of unique content.
@TatterNoho that's because it isn't just a science project documentary. It's made for entertainment, not really for information...and it does entertain! :)
Right?!?!
I would like to thank you for the continuous video's you've put out like these. It's like watching a nature documentary on tv but cut out all the less interesting parts. To see the lives of these creatures from so up close and mostly no human interaction is amazing, please keep doing what you are doing, being able to watch these back to back is like watching a movie.
Ugh, that egg is the worst cliffhanger! I've been coming back for three videos now to get the answer to what's inside, and now I've ended up subscribing. So much drama going on, and I love it.
Wait, really? It's been obvious dead since he found it. I've been thinking the exact opposite, it's the least drama ever and I am mostly annoyed by treating it like it IS drama when it isn't.
@Tinil0 It looks super dead
...but is it? 😂
It'll be a while until it's revealed alive. If it isn't alive then we'll have to see if any other babies turn up around Mikey's garden!
But I'm guessing that'll be a few months
The grub incident could just be a message to deposit creatures a bit more spread out.
RIP Dingo. I wasn't a viewer, but he seemed like a good dude. Never want a nature advocate to die that way.
@@matthewdavis3421 I'll definitely do that next time! Thank you.
@@AntsCanada Pre-dig some holes and test for ants, maybe try to integrate a percentage into Orchadia. :)
@AntsCanada Seconding both Nphen and matthew - poke around the soil a bit before putting in critters you're sentimental towards, and spread them out. Random, hidden ant colonies and other hazards could be nearly anywhere in there.
The sound effects during the jumping spider scenario were hilarious.
Never have I ever thought a spider was "cute" until now!
I’m glad even you have technical difficulties with you enclosures. I have an 8’ by 4’ by 4’ bioactive ecosystem with a 50 gallon pond and a 10 gallon pool that waterfalls into the pond and the pump constantly gets clogged and causes extreme frustration and flooding issues
The close up of little Snap hunting & flicking his tongue is by *far* the shot du jour: adorable, as is Snip’s beautiful iridescent blue. But there is *nothing* like the panorama of Pantdora at night, in the mists, under the full moon: it’s completely mesmerizing! You should try adding a whip scorpion that would be so cool. I’ve never seen how they breed and lay eggs so it would be cool to watch. Thanks for another awsome video.

Jumping spiders are so cool, I've even kept them as pets. You really can see those gears turning behind those cute little eyes❤
Ever try using your fingers to drum to them? I've done it with outdoor ones. Sometimes, they'll wave back or react in interesting ways. They're so smart.
They have such cute little faces. I love them.
When looking at the jumping spider move around, didn’t I seem like it was filmed in a stop motion fashion.
I once saw a wild jumper flying a kite. It would be funny if I was joking but I'm not. These guys are just so smart and playful, and sometimes absolutely fearless of humans. It's so amusing
@@DavidSinanan I've heard that some species use vibrations for communication, so that makes sense
I swear this man has mastered the art of the last second cliffhanger to keep you comming back.
I'm feeling the opposite way. It's like he starts an episode in the middle, shows you the end, introduces a new episode and it ends. It's driving me away from the channel
@@silspyro_5774 it's kind of getting to be a bit much... we don't need manufactured drama. Plenty of interesting stuff happens without turning it into a daytime soap opera lol!
Eh his "acting" and dramatisation is the one thing thats turning me off immensely. I'm sure it works for the tiktok croud or so but for me its just bleh.
I was LITERALLY about to comment "The cake is not a lie" you bastard lol
I notice every time. Homeboy is cut.
Ahahaha yeah he's a solid Canadian specimen.
He does it on purpose y’all. I would certainly rather see more of the vivarium but to each their own

Just remember to moisturize it every now and then, I imagine it'll be a much easier way to tell if it's rotting if you can smell it too
Antscanada is the only channel that pops in my feed in the first hour it gets posted.
Anyways cool video😊

I want to throw this out here now: you cannot release snip and snap. Yes, they are more prepared for the wild than a true pet, but they are not even remotely prepared for actual nature. They have never even *seen* an arboreal or airborn predator. They have no tools or knowledge to deal with that.
What a way to find out Dingo Dinkelman passed... Damn
RIP Dingo, a sad and sudden tragedy. Thoughts go out to His friends and family.

I was thinking the same thing. Those are pips!
Yeah!
If the egg was rotting, it would feel different, harder and bloated
This egg just seems to be from a thick shell egg laying species. Perhaps a lizard of some kind? I really really hope it hatches! It really looked like there was something inside, so many darker spots
Yeah. They kinda does look like pips.
I think something else found the egg and had a go at it maybe. If it was big enough to start cutting the egg, we would see it easier.
And again, I'm not trying to confront you about it, I'm just genuinely curious, cos it was quite upsetting to see them dying like that.
the incident with the grubs was painfully gruesome 😢

Maybe you shouldn't add things 13:20 in Pandora yet maybe the upper part of the canopy there is a lot more space

This is something I was thinking Bout recently, instead of always having a full moon. I'm curious if this would affect things if at all, but not from a science perspective, a naturalist
